Quote from MCZaphelon»Of course I don't blame Notch. Owning a company as large as Mojang has got to be a difficult job, and I understand his position (I actually think the deal was finalised at 2.5 billion dollars, and that's an insane amount of cash). And, of course, I speak from experience, being an avid community man myself. I'm maintaining a mod at the moment, and over the course of the past two years in particular, I've noticed that it's become increasingly difficult to update, and cater for the people that use it. I think many people have found that over those two years, the modding community has dried up.
The game has become better, by a great deal since Beta, which was when I took up Minecraft. I've just been getting the feeling recently that Mojang have become somewhat unreliable at delivering important features that the game's future will rely on. After all, the community is perhaps the most crucial aspect of Minecraft's success, and limiting people's ability to create mods is not going to have a positive outcome. However, on the other hand, I must admit that the recent work on Command Blocks has me a little more optimistic.
Trust me, the last thing I want to become is another run-of-the-mill 'whiner'. All I'm saying is, it would be nice, and I think change is good for Minecraft at this point.
I can understand him wanting to sell. Not so convinced Microsoft is the right buyer in the long term.

In 1.9.2 if you want a new normal EnderDragon the only method seams to be putting Ender Crytals on the End Portal. That re-sets the ender crytals on the towers of Obsidian and turns off the portal as well as spawning an EnderDragon. If you find yourself stuck at The End that's no use unless you have either ender crytal ingredients for enough crystals or access to creative.

I've been trying to use Dragon Phase. Works fine in 1.7.10 but has no effect in 1.9.2. You just get a floating invicible EnderDragon anyway in 1.9.2. (Just managed to get the flying one with no health bar on the unpteenth attempt in The End). Still can't get a normal one in 1.9.2.

In 1.9.2 the Dragon Phase stuff doesn't seem to work. I could summon a normal EnderDragon using it in 1.7.10 but even in the End you just get the stationary, invincible version in 1.9.2

I wish optifine could be put in the mods folder but it causes Minecraft to crash and the only version of Optifine for 1.6.4 I can find is a jar file anyway. The version I have for forge is the one or 1.6.4 at the web address you included in your post.

I got it working with one version of Optifine & now they have brought an up date out and it appears to be impossible to update optifine installed this way.

Apparently. Everything went down: Teamspeak, website and server. My son, who was a mod till it shut down, had to find out what was going on using Skype and he was told it was permanently shut down.

Didn't work for me & attempting a normal update of Optifine caused my Minecraft to crash. I can't give a crash report because it also made it grind to a halt. The crash report is visible only for a moment during logging off- the only way to get to do anything with the file as it is left stuck trying to load constantly. I do have Smart Moving, Zan's Minimap and Too Many Items as well as forge though.

My oldest son (Minecraft username: Creeperguy639) was one of the moderators until it shut down suddenly today. Apparently until then they had enough money to keep going & then suddenly they didn't (as if money had vanished from the server's accounts). Its shut down permanently. Minecraft has lost what was a superb server- good grief protection, friendly mods, a modreq system for reporting any grief, etc.

You can use the Hack/Mine modpack using the technic launcher. It doesn't need to be updated to Minecraft 1.3 to run it that way. I downloaded the Technic launcher originally to play Tekkit but I have been playing single player Hack/Slash mine more than Tekkit having tried it out just because it was an option on the launcher I had no idea what it was.
Hack/Mine is one of the modpacks you can choose to use through the Technic launcher. It doesn't affect you main minecraft files as it has its own copy of minecraft in the technic launcher's app data folder instead of the .minecraft one. Everything you need to play it is downloaded automatically when you choose Hack/Mine and then click log on.
I hate it when you have to go via adfly especially as I accidently downloadd something I didn't want (which turned out to be a virus) when I clicked on what looked like where you needed to click to download what I wanted.
Search for the Technic Launcher. Hack/Slash mine is one of the modpacks you can choose to play on the Technic Launcher.
