Sorry for the typo in my post but as the title still said, servers.minecraftforum.net, right here, is the website we're talking about.
That's what I mean, too. I've got the auth token they say to have in the MOTD, but there is still no verification taking place.
Nov 9, 2012We had a bit of a hiatus, but we're back and ready to dig into the game.Posted in: PC Servers
Mar 20, 2012Asphodan posted a message on WorldPainter - graphical & interactive map creator/generatorPosted in: Minecraft ToolsQuote from Captain_Chaos
Well WorldPainter did warn you that was going to happen!
When you Import a world from an existing map you're supposed to Merge it, not Export it, to get the changes back into Minecraft. Also you need to remember that WorldPainter is a map generator, not a map editor. It's capabilities of modifying existing maps will always be limited.
You should also know that WorldPainter makes a backup any time you Export (or Merge) a map that already exists so your old map is still there in the backups folder (which is next to your saves folder in the .minecraft folder).
Would love for a way to disable Caluclating Lighting. This is the one step that should be optional; I don't mind crazy shadows, but I do mind the large difference it makes in time it takes to export.
Jan 3, 2012Added most players to the server. Enjoy your promotion!Posted in: PC Servers
Oct 29, 2011I want to stress that this is still very much in-development, even the Minecraft core is still developmental. But for the most part, it is stable and enjoyable.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
I don't want to go into a lot of effort to promote a "temporary" server, but I want you to understand that this is not a new server - it is just Bettercraft testing and finding the various incompatibilites that have arisen since 1.9. We're working on them, and thought it fair to give everyone a shot at the new toys.
You can find our full, detailed thread here:
However, if you just want to get on with the game and start playing 1.9 Minecraft, in all its modded glory, just log in:
In order to actually play Minecraft 1.9, single or multiplayer, you have to download the client file detailed here:
Follow our discussion of 1.9 here:

The title says what it's intended to be; single-player, but better: More people and features without the griefers.
Utilizing a additional worlds and custom plugins to manage them, Guests are restricted from the main population. While this is discouraging to some, it is a boon to many. The tutorial is more than a maze of signs, it is a barrier that safely protects the time you've invested into your creations, from the idiots that would seek to harm them. Before they can even build, they must face the IQ and patience test that is the Noob-trab.
Should someone be patient enough to figure out what they're doing wrong, they will be magically teleported to a place that will send them to a transitory world. This transition world will enable communication, and allow the player to gather their materials before being taken to the main land to fight with or against everyone else.
Due to this system, traditional Griefing is near unheard of.
While your creations are protected, your valuables are not. Bettercraft provides ways for the rogues of the land to go and take the treasures they demand, without doing harm to their victim's time invested. The destruction is undone, but the loot is not. Should an adventurer be clever enough to find your valuables, they are lost to the rogue. But your home will not be left in shambles in their wake.
As you explore the server, you will notice several things that shift your online game-play, while keeping the core of Minecraft intact.
The first thing you'll notice is that you get Experience for the different acts in Minecraft. There is mining, woodcutting, even archery. The more you do something in particular, the better you are at doing it. For harvesting skills, such as mining, you can even get extra drops.
You might also notice, as you run around, that you are given what we call Chunks on the server. The easiest way to gain this money is to just play the game, it'll build up over time. There are many ways to gain your chunks, and even more ways to spend it. The economy is looked at closely, with many checks to keep it balanced.
Sparing you the question of if you can trust your neighbor, and making misdeed tracking so much simpler, everyone is given the tools to determine who damaged what, when, and how. They can then submit a ticket with our Moderation queue system, ensuring a prompt return of their demolished building or illegally stolen goods.
Sometimes you feel like building, and sometimes you feel like really building something special. Bettercraft offers this in two modes. Outside of the regular Survival Worlds, there is a shared creative world, which periodically resets, which any member can access from the comforts of their home. No damage is suffered and no items are lost. All items are infinite, and you will find increased flexibility in your permissions.
Then you can have your private world, which resets only on your request. Anyone may visit your world, to see what you have created. Yet, if you do not add them to your friends list, then they may not edit anything.
•The server is primarily managed by Asphodan, the owner and currently only Administrator of the server. Twenty one years of age. Extensive experience with MMOG leadership, making his first foray into server administration. He understands how to find, and take care of, the majority's needs. And sometimes, even their wants.
•Under him are his Moderators, selected after an extensive period of getting to know them. No position of power is given to someone just because they've asked; it is ensured that they are not only capable of handling their responsibilities and not taking advantage of their position, but also willing to do so.
12GB of memory ensuring server stability.
3.5GB RAMDisk, ensuring fast world presentation.
Dedicated 100M line, ensuring we'll never leave you behind.
The Bettercraft is primarily a survival server, although any grand creations you make are just as well insured against our anti-griefing methods as anything could be. We strive to maintain a mature environment; and the general rule of thumb is to not do, what you don't want done to yourself. Because it will probably happen, many times.
The rules are always subject to change, so posting them in multiple locations can lead to people being confused. For that reason, there is a central location for all behavioral guidelines: http://wiki.bettercr...index.php/Rules
How to connect
Well in case you missed the image at the top of the thread, you connect with the super-simple bettercraft.net IP, and then press Enter. If you have not registered on the forum by then, it will prompt you to do so. And after doing so, you're in and free to go.
Sep 18, 2011Just want everyone to know that we're on 1.8 now. =)Posted in: PC Servers
