I suggest notch makes custom servers premium only, and gives the well-known non-member modders membership, for as long as they keep at it.

It'll save him a ton of time if he just leaves hacks as they are and makes it optional to disable them, rather than adding them to the official thing, nobody'll lose anything important anyway.
