Well actually it's a little more shaded than that (top half lighter bottom darker), but in a nutshell you're pretty much right.

In most cases I simply used the color that was present in the middle (not shiny nor shady). In some I used a middle-tone color, like the iron ingot, ender eye and minecarts... I agree that Mojang would use multiple colors for outlines instead of removing it altogether.

Actually, the ingots, emerald, ender pearl, ghast tear, saddle, bucket, water bucket, and lava bucket look really nice.

Yeah I liked the buckets a lot... but as I said I like realism anyway.
The worst is tools and armor IMO.

I decided to help Mojang on making the default texture pack consistent... If you liked the food without the outline, this is what you want the rest of the items to look like:

If you don't like it, then you now understand why people don't want food without their dark outlines...

Remember that creepers are completely different than zombies and the like.

Oh yeah... so, have you tried putting a creeper head on a zombie?

They forgot to remove the outline from the spider eyes, golden apples, mushroom stew... the bottom of cakes and cookies as well.

I wonder. I will have to use NBTedit to try to get a creeper with a skull on its head (the reason I will choose creeper is because their model is similar to the character model, so it might work)

You can make mobs spawn with helmets (according to Sethbling)... did you try changing the helmet to a head?

I understand where your coming from, but re-texturing all the items like that would ruin the blocky theme Minecraft has used since the beginning that most long time players have hopefully grown to love.

Ask people to imagine all tools and itens without black outline... because now that food has changed, everything must be changed to be consistent. Say goodbye to your beloved blocky theme!

Oh... and even now, a couple months from the gravel texture change, a lot of people still think that they look like crap. But complaining about it has grown old, that's why they are silent about it.

In this case, time doesn't heal the open wound... you just get used to the pain.

If you don't like it, you can use a texture pack... isn't it the argument of the people here?
I'd love to see the complaints of the ones who like the food sprites. though

I like realism... that's why I always used JohnSmith as my texturepack. So, I could care less on default textures changes, but here's my 2 cents.

Minecraft has always been known for it's cartoony/fun look, that's part of what makes it's mobs and items so iconic. It's impossible to mistake original Minecraft textures to those made by tp artists because of how iconic and solid the artwork was.

While the developers have all the rights to change the artwork to something more realistic (removing the dark outline), because it's their game, this shows to me that they are slowly and purposefully steering away from that main aspect that made Minecraft look so unique.

Looking this new sprites, you can almost think that somehow Mojang stole the sprites from texturepacks like SummerFields or Jolicraft. And of course, now the Default textures are not standardized, as the rest of the sprites have outlines, while (some of) the foods don't.

People also have the right to like these changes... but they should be aware that they are saying to Mojang:
"We are ok with you guys making Minecraft lose it's Iconic and cartoonistic artwork, and look more and more like a custom texturepack... so keep changing it!"

    Woops, my bad! :D

I meant entities/items that are placeable. Anyway, it would be nice to have another placeable food.

Ohhh I'm so sad that we won't be able to PLACE pies the same way we do as with cakes.
    So sad...

Imagine it placed, then as you eat, slices disappear (traditional V slices)...
We are gaining all sorts of blocks on the game, EXCEPT placeable ones.

    I just had an idea:

Suppose the XP nerf is added as a server option? That way server admins have a simple way to either prevent or allow XP grinding as they please.

As for SSP... just don't build a grinder. If you complain about grinders, and then go and build one yourself... you have issues. o_O

    This is a good solution.

Oh no, someone finds something I don't like fun???!?? Remove it from the game immediately, everyone should enjoy minecraft the way I do.

    This post is so true.

People feel threatened by players that take the time to create a contraption that gives them advantage. Instead of leveling up to the challenge, they want others to be leveled down.
And let me make this clear... contraptions that are completely legit, take time and resources to be built and that only uses game mechanics as implemented.

I agree that is not fun.
I agree with destroying it on pvp servers if you do not like it.

Anyway, I agree with bluevein's post. The greater problem is not with XP farms in general, but with spawner-based ones, which require only a small effort and risk, almost zero resources to be built... so the risk vs reward is unbalanced in this case.

In other cases, people are whining because some nerds are spending hundreds of hours on their server to gain easy xp. They don't want to do that too, and they don't want to change to another server (xpgrinder-prohibited), so they want people to be leveled down. PS: I'm not one of those nerds.
