I don't know how to start this off, but I think there should also be jellyfish. Jellyfish are interesting, neat creatures that could add a lot of color in the ocean biomes. I am thinking some jellyfish could be small and harmless (like box Jellies), only the size of a sea turtle egg, that could spawn twenty to thirty blocks underneath the surface. More exciting jellies could spawn fifty to sixty blocks below the surface(is that too far?) and can glow in the dark(bioluminescence). These jellies have tentacles (unlike their smaller counterparts(or cousins?) and can sting players and other mobs. Some jellies can glow different colors (i.e red, yellow, blue, purple etc.)and can have varying lengths. I am thinking the longest length could be about 4-5 blocks long. Jellies like these can be hard to come by and can be the most dangerous. running into the tentacles of harmful jellies will give you a poison effect for about 8 seconds.
Now, let's talk about what they drop. All jellies drop something called...Jellyfish Jelly. The smallest jellies can only drop 0-1 of the jellies, but the largest ones can drop 7-8. Dangerous Jellies also drop something called Jellyfish Juice. This "Juice" may look like a purple ghast tear and may be used in potions. When you combine two jellyfish Juices with a blaze rod, and three awkward potions, you get a potion called "The Duke of Jellies" this potion will give you a new effect (name is still in the works) that allows you to poison any mob you touch until they reach half health. However, this can only be used for ten-fifteen seconds. This could be useful if you are out of weapons and have yo use your hands to fight. The Duke of Jellies also makes you immune to underwater damage for a minute. Jellyfish Jelly also has a use. You can craft "Jelly boots" in a crafting table, just like normal boots are crafted. Jellyfish boots or their unofficial name: "Jelly Boots" can make you jump higher and can increase your chances of getting struck by lightning in a storm. This is a good thing, however, as these special boots absorb the lightning, and give you the ability to shock mobs you hit, much like the Duke of Jellies potion does. However, you will only gain half an armor bar(?) while wearing these boots and they can break after three or four hits from a zombie. This means you have a really fragile, overpowered piece of footwear. The boots also may have a squishy sound when you walk (not the Spongebob squarepants sound though, i find it kind of annoying if you keep walking).
Furthermore, turtles can eat /kill any type of jellyfish. Any type of jellyfish can wash up onto the shore of beaches, but players can only pick up the small harmless ones, by right clicking. If a player returns a washed up jelly yo water, it will spring back to life. After a day on the shore, it will die. If a player tries to pick up a dangerous one, they will automatically get poisoned while holding it. The poison effect will increase will increase every second until the player dies. Also, attacking large Jellyfish will result in you getting poisoned, slowly, until you kill the jellyfish you attack. This shoud be easy, as they are easily defeated
Oh! There is also one special Jellyfish. This one is rare, like a pink sheep. This is called the golden/Notch Jelly It features a boxy, silver/white body, with two block long golden tentacles. Maybe it has a little golden beard like Notch, who knows? This jelly also glows the brightest, rainbow colors. They could flash all the colors of the rainbow slowly in the dark. Killing this special creature only takes one hit with a fist to kill. Killing makes it drop a stack of Jellyfish Jelly and Jellyfish Juice, along with a special item called the Royal Jelly (this is just like jelly juice, but gold and silver), that extends the effects of The duke of Jellyfish to five minuets. Also when you kill it, it makes a sad crying sound (because why would you kill this magnificent creature?) It also can be picked up and placed safely, when washed on shore, without any harm to a player (this only has a 2% chance, though). The Notch Jelly also is harmless to anyone, even turtles.
Also, Jellyfish can be bred. They drop about 60-70 little jellyfish eggs, only the size of exp dots(?) These eggs are an orange-red color. Jellies can be bred using algae or fish. Even the Notch Jelly can breed, but only with other Notch Jellies.
Lets talk colors now. The surface Jellies have no tentacles, and are milky white/translucent. Dangerous Jellies can have blue, orange, yellow, pink, or black tentacles and translucent or Purple, blue, orange yellow, pink red, brown, green bodies. These can also glow the same colors their bodies are. The most dangerous of the Jellies could also have head crests or something, like the Portuguese man o' war.
