What kind of compatibility does this have with Mystcraft? This mod looks great but I would really like to find out what it would take to get this guy to work.. Maybe Not Much! Though I must Also say that ExtraBiomesXL support *perhaps a small addon pack?) Would be stellar!!

I like it, I am all for new mobs/npcs, I have my own thread about a neutral/friendly npc too.. yours is more detailed and I like it but mine about Knights is good in its own right. I support this idea

Uh...no.Don't change something that dosn't need to be fixed.

Seems a bit smallminded, isn't progress better than stagnation?

    Care to elaborate at least?

I will be happy if the API will let me include this in my own games/servers I guess

Maybe but really iron golems are fine, and this wouldn't make much difference, although there is one thing that needs to be added, iron golems need to be in all villages, normally by the time I get to a village they are all dead, so why can't they have protection when they are weakest

What you said at the end is exactly the reason for Knights. Iron Golems are much stronger, but even a small village will have 1-2 knights.

I definitely think that Knights would be a lot better than Iron Golems, with the villager-like attributes, they would do a better job being in the Right places... Iron Golems get stuck, wander around the wrong side of villages.. in my experience they aren't all that effective

Plus I feel like knights would fit into minecraft really smoothly.. they wouldnt seem out of place at all..

Side note, maybe make dark knights in the nether that are aggressive? Just thought of that, seemed halfway decent

I have a gigantic list of awesome things that I want in minecraft, absolutely huge, but there is one thing that I want much more than anything else: Knight NPCs.

    Let me explain.

Think of this NPC as nearly a direct counter to a zombie. Melee, lives in villages, can spawn with random armor, has a sword, fights back when attacked and guards other villagers who get attacked.

Their Behavior? Mostly the Same as a villager, but with a slight add of iron golem like protective code. Lives in houses at night, kills zombies as needed.

Lets face it, Iron Golems are neat, but wouldn't it just be better if the villagers just pulled out swords and fought for themselves?

Now, I had originally thought hey, just add a militia-type villager spawn to the natural spawn, every few villager eggs you spawn will get you a militiaman. But then, I figured better to distinguish them more, give Them their own ID. Then also, they could have natural spawning conditions like Iron Golems, only much simpler, like one per three registered doors.

They would only have slightly more health than villagers, but more armor if it spawns on them, and they always have an equiped sword (or possibly bow? Both even?) Though the swords material would be Random.

Anyhow, enough me.. What do you guys think?

Yup, above poster has it pretty clearly, if you need really in-depth detailed instructions I'd recommend doing a search, as this is a common question and there have been many guides written, probably even a few official ones..

Snapshots are fun, welcome to the club
