Looking for someone to help me out with this, I've poured over the documentation and still it isn't working.
I have tested my json's for errors, they have none. It is somehow acting like its not even there, even though my ingame "/roguelike settings list" command shows my custom loot rules as active and default.
Anyone have issues with this that they can help me with? The link above has one of my json's that SHOULD work in it, if you can find a problem I'd be greatful
Had to pop in and comment on this thread so I can keep track of it...
Love witchery, its one of my all-time favorites (and it pains me to see it not update in SO long!)
And anyways this server has awesome mods and is still fairly minimalist so I can appreciate the heck out of it!
How many active players do you have usually? And also, do you have a discord setup? Its all the rage these days you know.. Lol. But seriously, its free, set one up..
Gonna also say the weird auto-step wehn using stairs or slabs (the char literally jumps instead of walking up them). Bit annoying but nothing too bad.
Yeah, now this I did notice, your character seems to want to jump over them, and automatically. And I do not have auto-jump on (who does? Its really annoying..)
I wanted to mention also, I've observed that 1.11 is apparently really easy to transition to (for once!) - many mods were able to update within a day of Forge releasing (and Forge had beta builds out the same day as 1.11) - so you might wanna plug this into 1.11 and see if it compiles without much tweaks - at least to get an idea whether it'll be a pain or not
Because a moving ship is changing coordinates, when you place down a relay from immersive engineering it sets the cords down for it, it doesn't update them 24 7. The mod wouldn't be able to update the status of these relays either I believe.
The ship doesn't move relative to its subworld coordinates, which you call only see when you are connecting ether generators to the control block. Idk - I think that it should be able to work given some tweaks to make it so, unless the entity of your ship is registered differently than I think it is? Hard to know that without some documentation or input from @thebest108 - I'll wait for what he says on that
The cannon is derpy as all get out and doesn't seem to want to attach to the ship properly (at least, after it is made into a physics object). It also cannot fire past a certain arc, or something? Aim it up, attempt to fire, and you'll see
The engine blocks (which I seriously love, btw) extend into a second blockspace but don't actually take up two blocks, meaning you can place a block INSIDE their front section, much clipping!
The issue with block updates and needing to relog does in fact seem to be related to other mods - use the mod compatibility minimod and it does fix this! So use it!
I tested it in conjunction to Immersive Engineering, to see how it handled multiblocks: The short answer is, pretty impressive. I made a cove oven and put some coal in it and tada, it worked perfectly!
Tested it trying to make some power generation: Nothing worked whatsoever. I don't think it was properly understanding what the kinetic dynamo and thermo-electric generator were trying to do, I configured it every possible way and it did not generate power. Or at least, WAILA doesn't think its generating power? IE doesn't have GUI's for those blocks so there's no way to tell otherwise..
The Waterwheel and Windmill from IE are multiblocks that are placed from a single block, these appeared to be a bit buggy. The center block seemed to work but the other blocks were non-physical. The windmill did spin tho, which looked badass on an airship let me tell you, that is reason alone in my mind to try to get Immersive Engineering fully compatible with Valkyrien Warships!
Also - I really think the engines need orientation mapping - meaning, if you place it on the side of a block, have it rotated 90 degrees so it looks like its attached sideways. Sideways engines on the sides of your airship probably look badass beyond belief!
I do have to say: I placed some TNT and a lever on my ship, to see how it might act like a bomber... and hot damn, it works perfectly! So, much congratulations to you on that!
Okay! After having looked into this now finally, I have some relatively easy to fix (and probably already coming!) things for you to take to heart!
First: The Control Block GUI needs to be overhauled! It needs tooltips when hovering over each field explaining them in at least decent detail, and it needs BASIC words beside the fields for at-a-glance control. Such as: The top field needs to say, MAINTAIN HEIGHT or something next to it, and etc
Secondly: Recipes and resource costs! I mentioned this before in my comment (before I had looked at the mod myself) and it is still a very important thing to take a look at! The recipes I think are actually not bad, with the exception of the cannon which does not yet have a recipe (lots of iron blocks!). What I think it needs though, is resource costs for the Ether Compressors. Make them work like a furnace, essentially! Give us something that we have to work at in order to keep us in the air!
Third: Keep up the good work! The concepts here are fantastic, and I really do want to see you succeed! The mod is pretty darn awesome and I have high hopes for you! Thank you for all that you've done, and for what you have yet to do! You can always PM me if you need someone to help test stuff - I have a dedicated server that I use for myself and my friends and we switch in and out our own private modpacks all the time, and I'm sure we'd enjoy giving this a thorough stress testing!
Last - do you have a github setup for posting issues? The MCForum page is hardly helpful for keeping track of bugs
EDIT: With additional reflection: I think that the control block GUI should also have buttons for increasing and decreasing too - instead of having to type the field every time. The height should have maybe, +10, +1, -1, -10, and the others have just +0.1 and -0.1? This would help a ton
Question for everyone: Does this mod have any survival mode compatibility yet? I mean, are the blocks craftable and can you play without using commands all the time?
And a side question.. it is possible for in the future (config maybe?) to make the engines consume materials to generate lift? Like, coal/wood/burnables for starters, and ideally add in compatibility with mods later? Coal coke, for one such example. I mean, hell, if you could go so far as to generate electricity on the thing and have Immersive engineering external heaters work with the engines.. omg.. Lol. Amazing.
Anyways the physics look balls to the walls awesome by themselves, and I realize its a buggy, early version.. But this is exciting stuff! Minecraft mods have loooong lacked vehicle options that really made sense to minecraft and applied sensible physics that were ALSO survival friendly. Here's hoping for the future!!
Indeed it was. Also, on the theme of the structures, I remember the archmage tower that allowed you to unlock the augmented casting mode way back in AM1, It gave me an idea, how about "special" structures that can be used to summon one of the guardians, but just for decorative uses, and obviously they would be in disrepair, but, again, they are just for aesthetic purposes.
This is a very good idea!
I love the idea of fancied up arenas for each guardian, that spawn a bit broken down but more or less ready for use! A floating ocean temple for water, a sky-temple waaaay up high for the air guardian, etc etc!
i don't mean an enormous village but it'd be nice to see something different, you know? i know that mods like to just add onto the existing villages, but imo it just feels bland to add onto the already existing one. i mean if it's that hated i can just do the villager in existing village.
I like the idea of completely magic themed villages, I would make them spawn totally different than normal villages though perhaps? Maybe even make the villagers a bit different than normal even, as in, not just reskinned testificates with different trades.. but rather, mage skinned, battle-capable mages than can be traded with like villagers? Idk that part might be wanting too much..
But having the villages be very different I think is the right idea.. Like, a floating city with very magey styled homes? A huge bonus would be to have them spawn like villages do, meaning rather than a copypasta city, they spawn procedurally with different configurations and paths between the houses? I don't know exactly how tough that is to code, but I'd figure you'd just have to copy the village coding and modify it to your needs? Idk, this would look really badass though..
Just imagine, a city with a big mage tower, a few libraries, a prebuilt crafting altar (probably a low-tier one, but it could vary a little). That'd be an awesome thing to stumble across! Maybe I'll make a city as an example and share some screen shots? I suppose I could even export it into recurrent complex if it turns out decent

Server down?
0
Had to pop in and comment on this thread so I can keep track of it...
Love witchery, its one of my all-time favorites (and it pains me to see it not update in SO long!)
And anyways this server has awesome mods and is still fairly minimalist so I can appreciate the heck out of it!
How many active players do you have usually? And also, do you have a discord setup? Its all the rage these days you know.. Lol. But seriously, its free, set one up..

Haven't seen Growl around - hope all is well!

This. They definitely don't work I'm afraid.
Wanted to chime in on the new world crash bug - does not happen for me. Must be with another mod? Optifine would be my first guess as I never use it
0
Yeah, now this I did notice, your character seems to want to jump over them, and automatically. And I do not have auto-jump on (who does? Its really annoying..)
I wanted to mention also, I've observed that 1.11 is apparently really easy to transition to (for once!) - many mods were able to update within a day of Forge releasing (and Forge had beta builds out the same day as 1.11) - so you might wanna plug this into 1.11 and see if it compiles without much tweaks - at least to get an idea whether it'll be a pain or not
0
Weird, that wasn't happening for me when I was testing it last night, and I was making new worlds constantly for another bug with a different mod..
0
The ship doesn't move relative to its subworld coordinates, which you call only see when you are connecting ether generators to the control block. Idk - I think that it should be able to work given some tweaks to make it so, unless the entity of your ship is registered differently than I think it is? Hard to know that without some documentation or input from @thebest108 - I'll wait for what he says on that
0
Why not?
I mean, I get why it doesn't work NOW.. but why can't it work in the future?
Also....
Here's a video to help people through the basics...

Okay, some testing!

0

This is a very good idea!
I love the idea of fancied up arenas for each guardian, that spawn a bit broken down but more or less ready for use! A floating ocean temple for water, a sky-temple waaaay up high for the air guardian, etc etc!
