There's a 500 MB Limit for uploads to Realms? There have been several times now where I have been frustrated by how many things about realms like limits etc are not written anywhere, at least not when I looked, despite the fact that it is supposed to be a professional service that we are paying for every month. If there are limits of any kind they need to be clearly listed in the service description, whatever they are. Like the original limits in the number of times you could download your world. There were none listed anywhere and yet they did exist, I have the screen shot to prove it. That may have changed since then just like the download method has, due to my interactions with the support team early on.

Apparently so. I couldn't add my 1+ GB edited world with Mojang support also saying my "world was too big" which I I found stupid. For an official service that they want upped as a "basic" and official service I found that limit to be too small, too limiting, and too stupid. 2 or 5 GB would be fair. Having an upload limit at 500 mb and an option for it just defeats the purpose of having one.

I also agree that I haven't seen any limits of ANY sort written on their Realms page, though bits and pieces may be found on Wiki and the forums. You have to search for them if you want to know them. I was also annoyed when I heard that there was a download limit, but I guess that can be officially justified by bandwidth abuse they've mentioned loosely. I agree that everything about Realms needs to be clearly listed, just like how 1.8 needs a bug fix.

When I asked when they will up the limit or if they'll fix stuff has gone unanswered, probably for obvious reasons I'm not aware of. Minecraft has become a negative experience this August onwards for me that I'm not sure what to do with it anymore. My buddies also on the fence, or even striking from my suggestions and frustrations as well that Minecraft is not a fun game anymore. It's become a guilty pleasure and a negative experience I want to play it, it just doesn't want to be played.

    Quote from MineCrak»

Well, my official Realms server went from playing smooth for me to being almost unplayable once it changed over to 1.8, and I was given no choice in the update it was automatic..

So I am paying mojang every day for a server that I cannot use... I guess that means I have even more reason to be upset than some. I'm paying daily for a service I can no longer enjoy. Hmm, that should be actionable... It wouldn't be if they allowed me to keep it at 1.7.10 but they don't.

I'm with this guy here. I'm now burning away days because Mojang finds it perfectly fine to release 1.8 without any praise or hype, and to not fix it either with it needing serious 'medical' support. They simply say "1.8 is up! Knock yourselves out!" without any actual professional 1.8 blog post or hype. Only a semi-happy tweet to only find that it lags like a rotten pile of **** - like a snapshot basically. What we've been given is a snapshot pretending to be the full release because Mojang either A) Doesn't give a **** or B) They have external issues to take care of that's screwing with their old habits of instantly patching up any issues. They haven't commented back at any social media for the last 5-6 days, or from what I can find. They're being suspiciously quiet.

I can barely play on Realms. I can't go near water and I have to stay in a little bubble of an area if I even do want to play. Being in water causes the rendering to slow own even further with the added bonus of more lag. I have to rely on people with less lag to do resource runs along with their impatience of going into /gamemode 3 to gather supplies further away. They still obtain lag so it isn't about having a better computer either, it's about the poor messy coding done on Mojang's side of things. It feels ominous only because they're being needlessly silent right now with a game version needing a serious fix the choppy lag we're getting, boats de-syncing and being imploding happy, and with two-block tall flowers showing the purple version glitch upon break-up. It's still unstable and unpolished. It feels like a snapshot that has been given a costume to pretend to be an official 1.8 release.

1.8 is the first version where I'm both happy for the features while also being highly disappointed with how you obtain mob heads AND the unplayable unstable choppy lag and performance. It's mostly the performance I hate for this 1.8 side of things. I'm basically forcing myself to play so I don't waste away my Realms subscription. The more Mojang pushes off the 1.8 fix the more I feel ripped off. I already had my toes stepped on when trying to upload a modified version of our Realms map to only hit the 500 mb limit. I'm now thinking of swapping hosting when I find the time is right and when 1.8 is fixed

Edit: I can curse all I want. I don't care, give me all the warnings you want. I don't even go here as much as I should. I'm just here to vent how useless 1.8 is right now with how poorly it is performing like a snapshot and with how Mojang is stealing my Realms sub thanks to 1.8.

I plan on seeing if window size makes any difference.

    To explain another theory, thus:

If things are working well Steve should be in a sphere like this - so that chunk distance is shown by the foggy edges.

When I encounter severe lag and chunk problems it looks more like the second image - it's almost as if the game loses track of the "center" of Steve's world and fails to render the chunks far enough in advance that suddenly the void appears.

In 29b the chunk loading works like the left image - you can see this very well in the ocean biome.

In 30c and beyond it acts as if the game doesn't know at time what it should be rendering - hence the splotchy mess of missing chunks in many of my screenshots.

This could explain why 1.8 sitting at the edge causes a long wait - until the game realizes "Ooops! Steve is here and not over there - here, let's render these chunks now."

This basically sums it all up. You would have to walk to the edge, wait a bit, let it load, and continue while rinse and repeating the process. Becomes a tiresome game of patience. It's much worse on water, in the ocean biomes. It takes twice to four times as long when boating than it does walking, running, flying in creative, and such. I would have to stay in that little bubble doing stuff or else it'll lag; Lag worse around oceans and lakes.

The way 1.8 chunks render is quite odd. When you move everything would slow to a crawl in chunk rendering to only speed up when you stand still. It's as if you're moving in slow motion like an Enderman teleporting to new chunks.

posted a message on Flying Mounts
I'm sure the title alone will scare and somehow threaten other Minecrafters somehow. People always feel threatened somehow. I don't see why it shouldn't be added seeing as how far we have to travel and with how anything above the clouds is ignored in creation building. I also know no matter how many times I'll mention this as well that it'll never appear in Minecraft seeing as how boats haven't been polished, fixed, or looked at in any way by Mojang. Also waiting on 1.8 to be fixed for its choppy lag. I'm also suggesting this because I'm outright frustratated with how useless boats are.

My suggestion, as with many others, would be to add a either a dragon, bird, or some original flying Minecraft mount you can breed and take care of to fly around the vast Minecraft world. Many have tried to add flying mounts and vehicles with varying success. I'm suggesting this for vanilla because for one "BOATS ARE [CENSORED] USELESS!" due to how overly fragile and sensitive they are de-syncing. People use horses, make tunnels, use railways, or simply fly in creative or teleport to where they want to go. Fix boats or give us flying mounts, but I guess that's just adding a bandaide to the issue.

And before you shoot this down as well think of the wasted space above the clouds. Nobody really builds there. Adding flying mounts (similar to those in Pixelmon) would most likely nudge people to build sky bases all that more often to stay away from hostile mobs and such. Seeing as how boats are also useless this would be an interesting way to travel with how far people build.

    Suggestion 1:

    - Fighting the Ender Dragon to obtain its egg to then merge it with a wither star for a 20% chance of hatching. Keep fighting withers to obtain more stars to hatch your own minature version of a black dragon. You can then fly using an in-game trophy mount while capping it off with 1-2 at a time per name/avatar. Balancing it with hunger with flight (think how sprinting drops your hunger) to match it to horses and railways should be a proper way to do such by feeding it wheat blocks. Adding a delay effect to the hunger to prevent force feeding to further balance it with horses.

    Suggestion 2:

    - A Mojang created flying creature that can only be tamed by feeding it 10 Wither stars and 1 Dragon Egg. Needs to be taken care by feeding it wheat blocks to travel further. Attaching hunger to it to feast on wheat blocks should balance it with horses and railway, and as a "end game" transport.

    Suggestion 3:

    - For those that fear the idea of flying mounts should accept the idea of flying creatures in the sky to give it a "lively" feeling. Adding creatures into the sky (think bats also) would encourage people to build up in the sky and to hunt in the sky. Right now anything above the clouds is wasted and ignored space. I know I can try mods, that's not the point. Trying to make vanilla a more fun base to play with thanks to how mods keeps showing us what we can do.

    -------

    In Short:

I guess no matter what I suggest it won't be added and people shall consider this an over-suggested item. Giving it a try anyways while allowing the thought to sink in some more. As a recap - only suggesting this because of how useless boats are and because of Pixelmon treats its birds in mid to late game flight. You would already have other modes of transportation set up that flying would simply compliment them. Having a tiny flying dragon or original bird type would populate the empty Minecraft sky while also allowing us to travel vast distances more appropriately without cheating or venting.

    --------

(Edit: With Mojang being sloppy I'm just about to walk out the door of Minecraft. 1.8 is unplayable, boats won't get fixed, and my buddies left to do other things so I'm just about to leave. Hoping that a miracle shall happen with a flying mount and flying mobs to keep me still somehow attached to Minecraft.)

posted a message on Is 1.8 Lagging for you? POLL - Let's settle this issue!
Hmm...Minecraft has become quite unplayable with the 1.8 lag it released. Going anywhere takes bloody ages because you have to stop and start in travel numerous times. Chunks form very slowly when traveling, speeding up back to normal when you're standing still. You move forward roughly 3-10 blocks, wait, move, wait, move and wait. You shall see that the rendering slows down when walking and speeds up back to normal when standing still.

I basically had to stay in one settlement area to basically do anything. My computer can handle this amount of stress, especially from modding and other types of games. It's just Minecraft being improperly coded (look at the ignored boat desyncs) that's making your computer read unnecessary coding or struggling to keep up with rendering....Or whatever is actually happening that more computer-knowledgable folks might now.

I found the chunk rendering to be worse around water. Maybe it's the caves, or maybe it's because it's the ocean biome. It lags a hell of a lot to the point a 2-5 minute trip turns into a 10-15 min trip. I still managed to get to where I needed to go after much venting and frustration, especially with how useless boats are.

There's also the occasional teasing "Look! I'm running perfectly fine!" periods where the game would run smoothly for a quick 5-10 seconds. Quite irritating.

(I guess this is why Mojang wasn't proud on Tuesday when refusing to link to any 1.8 content. It was a down-played "1.8 has been released!" with no blog-posts of any sort. No excitement, just release.)

Update after update I keep seeing the boat de-sync bug being "Fixed". It keep happening and it keeps being horrible. Horses are better, same with Minecarts. Minecraft is now in need of a boat update to fix the insanely buggy and overly fragile boat system with how far behind it now fell with other updates. I'm annoyed at people who ignored the reddit suggestions and Mojang for not simply giving us a real boat, or a sturdy one like this guy mentioned for us to cross oceans and lakes appropriately in an actual sturdy boat.

Give us an actual sturdy boat, or one that can withstand a fair number of coastal bumps due to bugs with one that has a single chest in it as a bonus.

Minecraft is in serious need for better sturdier boats. I don't care if I'm necroing. Minecraft seriously needs this! I'm outright ed off and furious with how boats are inferior pieces of paper.

posted a message on Does anyone think that zombies are just way too annoying?
I do agree they are annoying, but that's what makes them zombies. That's what they are....They're annoying and they swarm. Start enchanting your swords, getting loads of stone & iron swords in your inventory as spares, and move around a lot. Don't stand in one place. Move to the left and right, jump and kill them. Expand during the day and do indoor things during the night. Just do what the above poster said.

Also, I find them perfectly fine. Sure, they are annoying but I've now adapted to deal with them by always having more than one sword on the hotbar when using stone tools.

From what I seen they'll stay disabled until they feel that the lag they produce will be satisfactory to enable them again. They'll most likely enable them with basic (sub) command lines, or so mentioned in the Tweet I saw. Have to build up and wait until it's ready.

    - Villagers still being more or less brainless. They can't defend themselves still....I keep having to use dirt blocks to keep them stuck indoors until I'm ready to be able to protect them.
    - Seeing rendering issues in Minecraft that allows you to see through the world and into the void. Constantly.
    - Minecraft Realm's trigger-happy idle booting script that boots between 1-5 minutes (or 10 seconds idle).
    - Griefers that grief you then complain that you griefed them when you pay them back for griefing you. You then get attacked by moderators which then forces you to up a private server over the years that then leads back to Minecraft Realms. I prefer my quiet private little server area where I can build happily without people pretending they're all so special when destroying or claiming your goods.
    - People who only play Minecraft in creative then whine that the game is boring. This also extends to disabling creepers and adding anti-mob plug-ins. Play in survival and on SMP with friends. Playing with people and expanding your project list should help you have a nice session. Try building a city or something other. (Sure, people can play how they want. If you're going to whine Minecraft is boring by ripping out the meat of the game then that's where I start to question your thought process and your attention span.)
    - When heavily built Minecraft maps corrupt, get lost, or can't be hosted properly to play long-term. Many memories get lost.

    -------

The thing with survival vs creative I see is the whole earning bit. You earn everything you gain vs creative where you can just grab anything and everything from the menu. Survival you have to fight, dig, mine, and survive to then shuttle the goods to your base, or bases to build and use. The blocks in survival tell a story while the creative mode blocks are just simple decorations. There's no adventure behind the block you placed in survival. Did you fight hordes of zombies, get blown up by creepers, have to rebuild, starved, or spent days grabbing a block? Those kind of adventures radiates more than something built in creative done during a boring night or a rainy day. Those that play in survival shed blood, sweat, and tears to get all the resources they used in their builds vs those that can easily get the items from the menu in creative.

I can be more impressed with my survival builds because I kept strugglings to get those. I can then tell people how I got each and every block and from where. I can say who gave me what block or item while boasting or sigh at specific scenarios. It's painful when a survival map gets corrupted or lost due to all the memories, adventures during building, and the connection to both gaming and real life attached to various trigger blocks in-game. You could easily make and fill a library with all the books of all the stories that each block has. Would take twice or three times the effort in creative mode to get the same kind of memories and stories that people are so proud in when boasting of their survival builds. I will admit I do tend to mix the two on occasion while trying to keep them balanced. Three quarters survival with 1 quarter creative. It's just more fun in survival due the story-telling part.

From my side it isn't about being elite or competitive. It's about looking back while being proud of what I built along with what I went through to build it. As for others, probably the same. Maybe they were actually being all high-and-mighty about it. Be the elderly who enjoy telling you stories from 'back in the day' :P

posted a message on Very Upset with the New Boat Mechanics
Ya, I was used to the old way but I'm the type of person that usually adapts to chances. It was a bit annoying at first and now seems interesting. My issue isn't the controls but how it keeps combusting on every little beeping thing!

I had no real issue except for boats always being treated as paper boats. You hit something and it simply explodes, especially on lilypads or server lag somehow causes your boat to explode 20 blocks elsewhere. I didn't see a horse hurt itself in the cacti I left up nor drop into a ravine from lag. I personally see myself cleared of the side of the terrain to only end up boat-less because the game registered me hitting land 20 blocks away. FUUUUU!

I'd love boats to actually be at the ocean water block they're supposed to be on, not something registered elsewhere. I'd also love more boat types to match the outdated one in vanilla (no mods), and a cargo type boat. I'm shying away from boats in how they love to explode. I can always craft more but no, screw that!......I want more sturdier boats that are just as important and personal as horses and as Minecarts were >.>

    - Storage boats - sturdy boats with double chests on them that don't explode when you hit a water-mine of a lily pad. Something for the ocean biome.

Then idk if anyone else remembers this but I am pretty sure they said they were going to make minecarts work as boats in lava.
They never said that, and if they did then I am gonna go ahead and say cite your source.

I forgot when, I think it was around the the 1.8 (silverfish and etc) update and beyond when Minecarts were thought of being used as boats in lava. I guess something happened and they forgot. I remember the ponderings, just not the tweet or the source. Was watching an MC roller-coaster video of it also being quoted. No sources, just vague memories.

I hate sunflowers - it breaks the sunflowers that exist in many mods, including one of my own. I don't think the feature is necessary, at it only pointing east is pointless.

    The particles are good, though.

Mods are second in line with Minecraft being first. Too bad :P . If Sunflowers work in a similar fashion to the one in FTB then that would be neat, even as bio-diesel fuel for later tier two furnaces and appliances. About that time they got updated as well in vanilla.

Keep poking Jeb and Dinnerbone to have the sunflower interactable on Twitter and Reddit. When you guys complained about the overly suggestive +18 art of a carrot it was changed to something more appropriate. Keep pushing on Twitter & Reddit to have sunflowers direction switched and all.
