    posted a message on Where would you like villagers to go from here?
    With the addition of "zombie sieges" during the nights now, as well as the addition of the villagers reproducing, I finally felt like the villagers had a purpose: survival. Before, villagers were just kind of there; they would run around outside by day and inside their homes at night, and besides that they really didn't do much. After watching some villagers run inside a house to escape from a mob of zombies, though, and watching the zombies break down the door, I really felt for once that they were survivors like the player, albeit weaker and more vulnerable. This is a great point to go off of for the villagers, and I personally would love to see them add some additions to capitalize on this. Some additions I would like:

    *Ability to farm their wheat and store it in chests, as well as the ability to mine and smelt
    *Can craft basic recipes to improve their/repair their homes (torches,doors,paintings, etc.)
    *Ability to breed animals and store them in pens
    *Ability to make new homes (maybe?)
    *Player would need to win the villagers respect before being able to interact with them
    *The player can do this by killing X amounts of zombies or saving X amount of villagers during an attack
    *Once this is done, the player can freely access the villagers chests and buy "rare" items from them
    *The player can sell items he/she has to the village (except for weapons and armor) for an amount in iron/gold/diamond
    *Player can lose these rights by failing to keep the villagers alive or by killing a villager
    *Villagers would slowly advance in "technology" until the point where they can use redstone and minecarts
    *Villagers would never be able to fend for themselves, hence the players need to defend them

    That's the basic direction i'd love for villagers to go in, but what are your ideas? Should villagers be a religeous group dedicated to the church of notch? Should they just serve as a safer place to loot? Could they be recruited as allies? Post your ideas and critques here!

    The writing isn't meant to be legible; translated into english, it would just be a bunch of random words with no relation whatsoever to the enchantment

    I certainly like the new biomes, but I agree with what the others have said; in it's current state, the terrain is way too predifined and doesn't have enough variation. Alot of the little things I enjoyed in 1.7 (tiny water pools sprinkled around, a small isolated forest, an epic cliff rising out of the ocean, etc.) are gone, and it seems like every mountain or swamp biome I visit is the exact same! If Jeb can fix this and add back all the quirks I loved about the previous engine (and they fixed some of the things others in the topic have mentioned), then I'd consider it on par or even better than 1.7

    really,the only reliable method is to go FAR away from spawn and hide your base. If you don't want to leave, then place your chests underneath the floor (cover them back up with smoothstone, obviously) and put a decoy chest on the main floor (fill it with cobble, a hoe or two-nothing valuable). Preventing them from raiding your farm is trickier, the only real option is to move it deep underground and cover up the entrance to it.

    1. Envoronmental damage is pretty much everything-TNT,Mobs,fire,fall damage,etc. Forget the link, but Valerius_Maximus made a vid of him surviving a giant TNT blast with a full set of Protection IV armor; it essentially blocks all damage

    Now i'm not mod illiterate, but for some reason whenever i've downloaded the file i've gotten a zip file instead of a .jar . I've got no idea how to install it this way,so is something wrong with the download or am I doing something wrong?

    Okay, so I recently upgraded to a new computer and transfered most of my files over. I had to redownload Java SDK 1.7,but all my MCP folders and Minecraft files were intact. So,I've been working on a mod (all I've finished so far are the ores and toolsets) and I decided to add a block that spawned TNT when you clicked on it. I use Eclipse to edit my files, and no errors appeared when I saved my files. No errors during recompiling either...now,normally I don't run startclient.bat because I figure if I have no errors then i'm set,but I decided to try it today because I haven't added blocks that respond before. When I ran it,this error message popped up:

    I thought it odd,but I had no errors during recompile or reobufscating,and it ran fine on my old computer,so it must run fine,right?

    ...and of course it didn't.After I added my mod to my jar and logged in,I instantly got a black screen.No error message.Just black.I tried it again,same thing,except this time it was stuck on the "Done Loading" screen.I have no idea what happened (and I can't decipher the error message I got during startclient),so can anyone can help me figure this out?

    You need a seperate folder in minecraft.jar for all of your item pictures, it should have the name you specified in your code (if an error appears, double check the names of your picture and folder)

    Great tutorials,these have helped me out alot! One question though...If I wanted to make the grenade create fire as well (e.g. an incendiary grenade) without messing with the explosion code,how could I do that?
