Yeh good on him for having the balls to stand up against it. Indie finds a way around these things run by the big companies (when they become too focussed on spamming ads, collecting data, and changing things against community wishes) anyway!

I just wish the trapped chests had the same texture as normal chests. That way it would give a bit of excitement and uncertainty for the experienced players rather than just catching curious noobs.

I really think it is about time Mojang gave Jeb some much needed backup instead of trying to pretend their whole company doesn't exist and that they should invest so little money helping him out to improve the game!

posted a message on Kelvin or Celsius?
    Quote from Exalted Kezia

A bit offtopic but It boggles my mind that the US continues to still use Fahrenheit AND Imperial measurement in this day and age. Couldn't you guys just do the world a favor and switch over already? :P

Anyway as some users have already stated Celsius for every day reading of the weather forecast and Kelvin for more precise and scientific calculations when dealing with sub-zero temps. But I guess it all depends on the field or program that you go into.

Heh, the funny part: While i was in the states I was talking to a scientist at NIST (he is an expert on measuring time and wow did he have some great stuff to say on the science of time measurement) I asked the same thing about why they don't use the metric system. He laughed and said "actually we (NIST) use the metric system. I get asked this a lot and the fact is, the USA did switch to the metric system in 1988, we just haven't caught on yet to the fact that we have switched"

posted a message on Does cracking you neck/knuckles really give you arthritis?
    Quote from WhiteSlate

I doubt very much that it increases the risk of Arthritis. Arthritis is an autoimmune disorder, when the lymphocytes in your bloodstream attack your own cells in your joints. This is a cellular/genetic process, not so much a physical one, so I cannot see how cracking your knuckles would in any way affect this.

It might well have other physical impacts such as wearing down joints (I have no idea), but it definitely will not increase the risk of Arthritis.

I just wanted to shed some light on the topic as a member of the medical community:

There are two types of arthritis; rheumatoid arthritis (Which IS an autoimmune disorder caused by your immune system attacking your synovial membrane) and osteoarthritis which is due to wear and tear on your joints.

So what whiteslate said isnt entirely true, but it is true for the rheumatoid variant. Osteoarthritis is very much a physical process from the grinding of your joints. This is why it is most common in the hips of elderly people, because those joints bear a lot of the body's weight over a lot of time. Eventually the ball-like part of the femur will wear through the cartilage. And then it is bone grinding on bone when you move, which is not pleasant. This feels like you have sand in your joints. Rheumatoid arthritis often occurs in the fingers, and makes them very stiff and feel swollen (it can also sometimes occur to young people, leaving their hands disfigured and less functional earlier on).

Can you get osteoarthritis from cracking your knuckles? Well lets just say the damage is negligible if you do it every now and then, so not really. However, as with all things, don't overdo it or you probably will do some damage. keep it reasonable.

First of all, I really love this mod! It makes the game so much better in my opinion.

I was wondering, would it be possible to allow ladders to be attached to a platform block while it is moving? I'm not sure how tricky this would be though.
Basically I want to create an escape hatch by having 3-4 bits of ladder running from the base of my elevator 'cage' up some platforms and onto the roof of the elevator. I was stoked when I thought of the idea and placed the ladders on the platforms, but then I realised that they pop off when it moves.

I came to this post intending to be helpful, but after reading through and noticing your aggression towards some people and insults to windows (my preferred OS) I have decided otherwise. Be aware this is probably how others feel too when they read it. If you want help, be a little nicer and willing to at least acknowledge if not accept some new ideas without coming across as overly critical and ungrateful.

Well, when btw has been updated to 1.3.1, it will be possible play with BTW on server regardless, because of the server/client merge that has happened in the last update.

Mmm I was wondering about that too, I (being a casual and not so technical player) didn't understand really if Jeb was saying the merge meant that all mods were automatically MP compatible or not.

I have to ask: why are the minecraft quizzes on YouTube instead of being done either as a web page or in flash or anything else? It seems really inefficient with all the page loading/watching ads etc. Is it just to make money form multiple video hits on YouTube?
