Also, if your computer is not an up to date gaming rig, I wouldn't try to run more than a dozen or so mods. As far as the shaders part goes, I've never tried to use them, but I would just leave them out. You're going to need a good computer to run shaders.
Right now I'm playing on an HP Envy dv7, and while I'm not able to play really truly big modpacks, Yogcast might be one example, or with Shaders, I can play plenty of modpack just fine with Optifine, such as Project Ozone 2 or FTB Infinity Evolved, which are both fairly decent sized packs. So you can play modded even with a less than great computer, just maybe not one that's a decade old and probably not massive packs or with Shaders.
What is the brand, model number, etc of your computer? Or if it's a custom build, what are the rest of your specs? This article on PCWorld might help you, but since you are asking the very general question of how to upgrade, then for you it's going to be very hard to upgrade it without knowing all the technical stuff. Also, if you are running Minecraft off a computer with HD 4000, then the rest of your specs must be pretty low, and if you are going to attempt Shaders, you probably should just really get a better Gaming PC. You will be able to play modded minecraft without upgrading, but with Shaders, no.
It's a possibility that that was just edited in, assuming the video was actually recorded in Minecraft and wasn't totally created in some video editing/creation software.
It's a crash involving not just Immersive Engineering, but also MineTweaker. Immersive Engineering is trying to load support for MineTweaker, but it can't find a method in MineTweaker. Ergo the crash. This exception, NoSuchMethodError, usually involves something with versions. Perhaps one mod is in 1.7.10 and the other 1.8.9. Perhaps one mod is built for a particular version of a mod. The latest version is MineTweaker 3.0.10B. Try updating MineTweaker. That should fix the issue.
Well, there's the vanilla block called the barrier. You need to use commands to get it in, and you'll only be able to see it when you have a barrier in your hand.
Do you know what the mods were? Advent of Ascension has greatblades, which are larger and longer swords, and I want to say that Chocolate Quest has some, but I'm not sure.
Really? In some both the modpacks I referred to you could still do normal world gen. Besides, isn't that what's done during the world loading? Blocks, items, mobs, etc. are loaded and whatnot during game loading, so the block dirt would be loading the same way whether in a skyblock or not. Does Garden of Glass do it perhaps? It's in both packs I've seen.
1. I think Fun Ores or maybe interaction between Fun Ores and Progressive Automation, but I'm not sure. I'm not familiar with the code for either mod as a mod dev would be; I'm just looking up the classes referred to in the stacktrace.
2. There's a difference between meat ores, which the pig ore is one, and the mob ores, which include the enderman ore.
3. Fun Ores:

Ars Magica 2 requires the Animation API. Download and install.

The dev versions are meant for a development environment, where things are slightly different. Thus, dev versions won't work in a normal environment.
Also, please give us your crash report in regards to the issue with immersive engineering, but do so in a spoiler please.

Looks like it's a problem between Optifine and Ars Magica 2. Where's the Optifine file located? This is what Ars Magica says in its FAQ:
You do not need to remove Optifine. I myself have played with both Optifine and Ars Magica 2.

What's your fml-client-latest.log? Also, try deleting and redownloading Ars Magica 2.

Also, you wanted to use it to get ender pearls? Take a look at lines 555-557 of the Fun Ores config. It appears as if they won't drop ender pearls.
