Necroing is better than duplicate topics, for one, it makes searching a ****load easier.
And it means all the ideas for the topic can be summerised, and the idea can actually grow and maybe get some attention, be recognised by those that matter.

Sure, it may be difficult to read through 100+ pages, but its much harder to read through 10 topics stating.... mostly the same ideas with little variation.

Don't have time to read through 100 pages? thread owner should be competent, and summarise the idea as it grows, in the main post.

OP doesnt have the time? huh, well then maybe he shouldn't be making topics.
If you don't have the time to put into an idea, or discussion, you can't discuss it, which makes making the topic redundant.

Unless you want others to discuss it, by all means, make the topic, but hand over command of the topic to someone who is actually interested in the idea.

Oh yes. We should alllll be constantly checking the thread we've made and update it, even 5 weeks later. Thats just silly. No one reads beyond the front page, anyways.

Regardless, its a bit overdone, and a sudden change. I also personally feel there is a small bias in the locks, espically in negative threads that are saying they really don't like X.

I highly, HIGHLY, doubt you do anything you just suggested. I don't think anyone does. Thats a bit steep, and new threads after a few weeks keeps topics and discussion fresh. This is what alot of good forums I goto allow.

If we're going to go into robot mode and be very harsh on little rules such as these, I'm sure it'll cause far more problems then it'll ever solve, I've seen many a forums die or go up in flames in such a way.

Sabby is locking threads due to duplicates. While there are duplicates I will put my personal opinion here not to offend anyone.

I believe the locking is a tad overdone, digging more then 3 pages back usually refers to outdated posts, and thats really close to necroing. Sometimes, its best to start fresh posts, as to facilitate better conversations. Ever try reading through a 100+ page thread? It gets a little hard to follow.

I would ask that the moderation team calm down on the duplication thread locks. I understand if its duplicates on the first page.

Also, just because theres a thread stating someone doesn't like notch, or a poll on that, with a moderately good post of serious discussion, doesn't mean the thread should be locked. if its not in general discussion, it should be moved. If theres people trolling or flaming in the subject, that should warrent individual actions.

Please do not lock topics because they conflict with your opinions.

posted a message on 1.8 Breaks TNT Cannons
all the "STOP WHINING GROW UP GET OVER IT I DONT USE TNT CANNONS SO YOU ARE A LOSER" aside, I think I'll try and you know, intelligently respond.

Im not sure why you'd need moving water for a TNT cannon to work, really. You just need the water to prevent it from destroying stuff. Otherwise, line of TNT or a stack of TNT activated via redstone upwards, would allow you to really acomplish the same thing, as far as "sending" the TNT you plan to shoot.

Moving TNT entities aren't required to make a cannon, however, them NOT moving is definately a bug. All entities are supposed to be effected by flows.

    Quote from Dantevortex

    @OP

Minecraft is not intended for cannon making. There must be a better reason why TNT no longer floats. (don't know if OP is trolling or not. SO going to check the floating TNT.)

Notch also made TNT rebreakable, and only activated through redstone or switches. I was happy that he did.

Minecraft is for building. I mean, by your logic, why even build a house, or even use redstone for making clocks/repeaters/combination codes/list goes on, for that matter?

I mean, damn him, he's trying to do something CREATIVE.

    Quote from TheDraco

    *facepalm*

You really think its that difficult to write in coding to toggle hunger on and off?

    Thats not the hard part.

The hard part would be making it so each "consumable" item has two different uses, based on which "mode" is available. It just seems like it'd be hard to give the same item ID two different abilities that can be toggled in game, or even out of game.

It'd be a whole new type of thing in minecraft, as no other item in the game does this currently.

Im not trying to be offensive, Im sorry if it seems that way.

posted a message on Hunger: The reason it needs to be possible to Disable it
This is a small portion of the community that needs it for PVP. It's also not something you can quick fix, that'd be like making an entirely new game mode. I am really sorry it effects you this way, but the current design goal is to make survival, well, more survivaly.

I can however, try a few suggestions to cope with the new patch; there will undoubtily be mods to change this, hopefully in tandem with the modding API.

If thats not apllicable, you may wish to try having your PVP matches with better armor, and weaker swords. Alls your soups are doing really is extending your health bar; the regeneration may even add strategy to fighting.

Again, Im sorry, it doesn't seem like it'll be toggleable without modding; maybe someday it will or maybe you'll find PVP more enjoyable. Its tough adapting, I know.

    Best of luck!

posted a message on Notch removes cubes and jumping?
I hope he does. Jumping is extremely overpowered; you can dodge low attacks by other players, and jump between gaps put in place to protect someones home. This is an unfair exploit and should of been removed forever ago.

Oh, sure, Im sure all you cheaters out there are going to complain that your trick "jump" puzzles into you house won't work, or that you won't be able to pillar. But thats for noobs and cheaters and losers.

Also, I believe the cube nerf is great. Cubes present too much hazzardous terrain for the average minecraft player, it has sharp edges and I find even my self a professional minecraft player constantly hitting the corners of it. Please use soft, next-gen spheres.

Also, I would like to inquire when the sword and bow nerf are comming out? Both greatly outshadow fist, hoe, pickaxe, axe, and shovel, in terms of damage.

Also, please make all the above weapons harder to use and require a charge up; this game needs less noob weapons and more skill based ones that require timing and aiming.

I hope notch hears me out I am the best player ranked 1 on the ladder and deserve my opinions on good balance to be heard.

posted a message on Giant Mushrooms Suggestion(For easier construction)
Hi. I've been a bit of a shroom fan in this game, I've collected them and refused to eat them, they are just awesome.

But, when I heard about giant mushrooms, I told my self, Im building a house out of giant mushroom. Now that I've tried the pre-release, I know that it won't be possible.

Nor will it ever be possible to "place" mushroom blocks.

HOWEVER! If the coding for the "shroom" trees were tweaked so that there "leaves" aka caps, were to be able to overlap/replace other leaves like tress do, it would be possible to "grow" them and make walls. Currently, it is not possible to grow them close enough to make a wall.

    What do you think?

This statement seems to sum up the additude of the forums about getting a new computer.

At least he admits it honnestly, though.

posted a message on about fog toggle and its removal.
Why are people so adamantly opposed to it being reimplimented? I just don't understand the hostility to these people who want it back; its very scary how hurtful and insulting people are getting over such a trivial topic! (Both Sides)

I think there should, at the least, be a new option to help those who have lag issues out.

A button that refreshes the game, and reloads chunks, sort of like toggling the fog key. Make it bindable, but not bound by default. This would appease everyone, I hope. I mean really; is it going to hurt those of you who don't need it, if its added? Its just a small fix.

Let us try and congregate our feelings about this in this thread, where we can keep it civil, and not spawn topics about how the game is now unplayable, or how people need to stop whining because the f key needed to be removed.

    Thanks in advance, Minecraft Forums.

posted a message on Pre Releases...
Unfortunately, I think you people are misunderstanding certain things.

You let your bias overcome your decisions between "complaining" and "Giving your opinion what you dislike."

Is it not a beta testers duty to test the game not just for bugs, but for unenjoyable game mechanics? To express our opinions is to make sure we get satifaction. If enough of us "Complain", it should warrent further investigation into the matter.

Telling people to grow is hardly any more efficent of solving the matter, nor is taking up space on the forums with a complaint thread about "complaint threads".

I would advise you all go do what you adamantly suggest... And beta test!

Oh humble readers of these forums, why so angry at a man asking for a single thing back? It disturbs me how willing you are to lash out for something that wouldn't hurt anyone, but benefit the few who need it.

Indeed, the man is not even asking notch to impliment much. Merely return a shortcut to the game that has helped the poster acheive a better state of play.

Times are tough! A new computer is not always an option, we are not all so privilaged to have that kind of money laying around.

Won't you give this man his wings?

And so sayeth the community of Minecraft,
    those who do not assimilate shall get thee shaft;
Why shant thy paupers get a great game?
why shant thy poor be gifted with its fame?
why shant thee giveth onto them a crutch,
if their Clockworks are neglectable as such?
    NAY! the nobles shall say,
    the pauper must pay,
    what he should haveth free.
