Alice Wovenleaf was born amongst the royalty in the grand elven city of Runaria,
founded by her father and named after her mother. Her mother grew very ill at the time of
Alice's birth and passed away during. Stricken with both overbearing sadness and
unimaginable joy, the elders of the city swore with her father to protect the darling
princess from all evil that sought her. Her father was King and she was next to rule, though
she was brought up quite sheltered. No boys were ever allowed to be in her presence so as
not to woo her towards them. The only men in her life growing up were her father who was
not always there and the elders who only talked about old things and how the world is
changing. Alice had no friends and was very alone except for the occasional handmaiden.
Alice ventured out to the palace garden often in her youth, the elders taught her
many a simple magic to grow grass and flowers, as well as a young sapling or two. When she
became older she learned the ways of water. She loved water almost more than her plants,
often building structures and statues made of vines and foliage surrounded by waterfalls and
ponds. Her artwork was so revered, anyone lucky enough to be in her presence would obtain
one, and cherish the piece for as long as they would live. However seeing as how almost no
one saw the princess, not too many were so lucky. Now that's not to say no one KNEW there
was a princess. Alice was known far and wide as the most angelic elf to set foot in Runaria,
so much so some called her angel akir, using the ancient elven language for a royal
When Alice was finally of age to marry, her father announced she was to be wed to a
prince from the city of Midori, the green city over the sea. His name was Amasu Kronis and
he was a handsome elf of high stature. He was respected by all and accepted into Runaria with
open arms. Though sheltered Alice was nonetheless displeased. She had never been with a man
before, what was she to do? She reluctantly accepted him, however, never spoke a word. The
two were inseparable, Amasu had fallen in love at first sight and had no intention of
letting her slip away. Alice remained faithful for her father's sake, and eventually warmed
up to Amasu, and fell in love herself. They were to be wed finally after four years of
silence and three of laughter. The wedding was set for the day of Spring when the flowers
were brightest and the sun shone strongly.
Three weeks before the wedding, the princess was out gathering berries with her
prince for baking later that evening. She knew she shouldn't be out as far away from the
city as she was, though she thought herself to be quite protected with Amasu. He was a
warrior after all, a skilled swordsman.
Unfortunately, a blunt smack to the back of the head was an easy way for the Dark
Elf to take him mostly down. Amasu struggled to fight off the two Dark Elves that attacked
them as he yelled for her to run away. Thinking of nothing but following orders as she had
been raised to do, she fled and hid, watching her soon to be husband fight and ultimately
lose. The Dark Elves took him away and never looked back.
Alice waited for two days, hiding, waiting, watching, before she ran out of food and
water. Amasu never came back, and he wasn't going to. She went out to the exact spot they
had been attacked at. There in the grass lay a small clam shell necklace that had belonged to
Amasu. Alice hung it around her neck and wept for her love lost because she couldn't do
anything but watch. After another day of sobbing, she decided to leave. Starving and weak,
she panicked when she realized she didn't know her way back home. Alice picked a direction
and walked as far as her legs would carry her, eventually fainting near a human city called
Ravenholm. Some human had found her and taken her to Cormyr to an INN to rest and recover.
When she awoke, Alice was distraught and scared. The tavern keeper asked her name
and all she could do was remember what her father had told her when she was very young. "If
you're ever caught or unsure about your well being, don't breathe a word of us, keep it to
yourself and lie. Steer them away and don't let them know who you are."
"M-my name is Akir, and I'm t-traveling." Akir spoke for the first time and Alice
was no more.
Akir is soft-spoken and somewhat shy. She is serene and gentle. She is beauty and
she is grace. All who see her fall for her eventually, though she won't breathe a word why.
Akir now resides in Aeonis' Seanchoille, run by a council of four elders, she takes solace
in them and tries to lead a normal life without letting on who she really is. She tries to
blend in by being happy and pretending everything is OK.
Akir can often be found in her tree home ("the one with the blue stuff, lazuli
that's it!") or on the beach ("'Cause it's pretty and means a lot to me."). Her hobbies
include sewing, baking, building, plant life, waterworks, and fishing.
Just don't ask about her past because "It's n-nothing! Absolutely n-nothing..."
wow, really nice story, have you posted on official forums?
