Using magic Launcher 1.0.0 with optifine hd a2for 1.4.6
Everyone who is claiming that using dirt blocks and staying safe instead of an unsafe door isn't cool, you're thinking about the solution the wrong way.
You don't change zombies back into not breaking doors, you change zombies into breaking dirt blocks instead.
Of course, the dirt will break down much faster than regular doors
That way, the door is not nerfed into an inconvenient deocration, and the rest of us get the enjoy the increased difficulty!
The problem with the issues that you want fixed is that its extremely inherent to the game itself.
When a new person joins the server with nothing, what else do you expect when someone else thats logged in with a crazy amount of hours with loads of resources at his disposal?
As much as you don't like it, when you have nothing and you go against someone with iron armor+sword, you're chances of survival SHOULD be so little its frustrating. Iron is 2 tier equipment, 2 levels above bare. It should take little to no skill for them to kill a bare person because they prepared and worked for the equipment. There shouldn't be a "fair chance" it should be favored towards those better equipped.
This is a valid argument, your arguments do not refute it in any way.
There is absolutely nothing you can do about people being jerks and abusing the system. Thats just how every PvP game goes.
There's also no fix all solution against lag. You just have to deal with it.
There are some ways I can think of that can fix this problem, without devaluing equipment.
-Make sprinting with armor on slower than with no armor/shorter sprinting duration with armor on than no armor.
Legitimately, I think thats enough to keep the balance to make sure the guy with armor should almost always win while giving the underdog a chance to survive. No need for fancy critical hits or negating damage for blocking. In terms of combat balance in general, I think leather should be made MUCH more plentiful. 1-4 drops per cow. Always guaranteed 1 drop of leather. Easier access to lower tier of equipment should alleviate the huge disparity.
tl;dr
The game could use some balancing. But from the solutions and reasoning you are putting forward, all signs point to you being a little *****.
I absolutely hate it when people go ahead and start saying that when depression comes into a discussion. No, I'm not being a self-centered jerk that thinks my problems are far worse than everybody else's. That doesn't ****ing mean that my depression will never be justified. I know there's some starving child in Africa that needs help WAY more than I do, and I would really love to help them by all means, but goddamn, since when was that a reason for anybody else to not be allowed to feel down in the dumps?
All my limbs are amputated. All my friends and family are dead. I was conned by my ex wife who was able to take my children (who are now dead) and my money in court, who was cheating on me with multiple men since we were fiances.
Besides the point on graphics, and other issues against the developer aside, the negatives of the game are completely valid. And its something we've been trying to point out all along. You can say all you want, it doesn't make these points any less valid. Minecraft 1.0 is not complete and does not live up to hype and even general standards of selling merchandise.
The light at the end of the tunnel is that Notch has finally left the development head. Jeb now taking over seems much more promising and hopefully we can go back and enjoy the game even more.
With the train of reasoning you guys have, MS paint would be a AAA title and you guys would gladly toss all your money away like a chump just because there is an "infinite" amount of things you could do or "content".
I personally dont think minecraft was worth $30. I had a tough time convincing myself/a lot of friends that it was worth $20.
No matter how you stack it up, multiplayer/mods is what gives minecraft most of its replayability. Thats how COD can charge an outrageous $60 for relatively little content.
In fact, mods by itself and all the varieties can make it totally worth $30.
However, its the fact that Notch has not added mod support technically makes the pricetag reflect vanilla only.
Basically, Notch is justifying the relatively high price through the value of the minecraft community. ie, mods, multiplayer servers (which is community supported, Notch does not maintain official servers AFAIK)
Vanilla singleplayer minecraft 1.0 is worth 10-15 IMO.
