Hello, this is my first ever release! I thought of this on Sunday and spent about 3 days making it.
It's Minesweeper for Minecraft. It plays much like the standard application (i.e.Beginner: 81 tiles, 10 mines, Intermediate: 256 tiles, 40 mines, Expert: 480 tiles, 99 mines), except that I can't randomly generate the play field, so I build beginner, intermediate, and expert play fields by hand. This also comes with a necessary texture pack that is supposed to match the theme of the Windows XP version of Minesweeper. I think I covered almost every item that would appear in this game type. The pack is necessary for gameplay to be fair because it gives the mines and the blank spots the same texture.
Video, other info coming later.

Make sure that when you win or lose and survive you put the items back in the chest you got them from and take the new items from the chest in front of the next challenge.
Installation Instructions:
To open your .minecraft folder:
In Windows 7: C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
In Windows Vista/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Application Data\.minecraft
Linux: /home/Your User Name/.minecraft
Mac OS/X: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
.minecraft Folder
The .minecraft folder looks something like this:
-bin
-resources
-texturepacks
-saves
-options.txt
Open the file with a standard unzipping program
Drag and drop (or extract to, if your unzipping program doesn't allow drag & drop)the "MineSweeper" folder into your saves folder.
Drag the other ZIP file into your texturepacks folder. IMPORTANT: KEEP IT IN .ZIP FORMAT, IT WILL NOT WORK IN ANY OTHER FORMAT!
Launch Minecraft, click on "Mods & Texture Packs"
Click on the MineSweeper texture pack entry
Click "Single Player"
The MineSweeper save should be right there
Make a backup of the save by copying and pasting the file, it should create a file called "MineSweeper - Copy" or "MineSweeper(2)" or something similar.
If there are any inconsistencies, bugs, miscalculations in the field, information I should add in the thread, etc. please let me know! I will try to fix it as soon as I can and reupload a fix. If this ends up being popular, I'll work on new maps and try to work out a texture pack or instructions on how to make your own field.
(If anyone knows of a mod that has blocks that break instantly with any tool or item, like a fist or a stick, let me know)
Please give me feedback on this and tell all of your friends, I want some publicity.
*EDIT* 4/14/2011
-Updated the map. Now it won't lag and destroy the entire map when you hit a mine.
-Found out that I'm not the first one to make a MineSweeper game type, though the other version is a mod, and mine is a map.

EXP: I've played Minecraft since the early Alpha stages. I'm an admin on a server that is going through a lot of updates. I like building towers and roller coasters.
reason: I'm looking for a server to hang out on while my main is offline, and I figured a whitelist server would be fun to play on since there is little chance for griefers. I'm generally a polite person, and I try to provide comedic relief.
did you ever greif and swear to never in the future?: I have griefed, but I had a reason for it. The admins of two different servers had been fighting with each other. One admin and some of his friends had griefed the server of the other admin, who was my close friend. I went into the other admin's server, spawned in a lot of TNT (this was before the hacking fix) and blew up most of the buildings. I haven't griefed one since then, because my buddy shut down his server and no one has ever griefed a server I was a regular on. I will not grief a server ever again.
This might be in the wrong thread, if so, I apologize. I just had an awesome idea for a weapon: A TNT launcher. Not a rocket or grenade launcher, but something that works like the bow and draws its ammo from your TNT reserves. It could be used for leveling mountains or killing hordes of creepers. If I knew how to code at all, I would totally make one, but for now it's just an idea.
I vow to perform my moderating job dutifully, though I will only be on every other week for personal reasons, suffice it to say it is related to family issues.
