Ok, so it turns out it was corrupted entities. I noticed some lines on server start indicating it was "Keeping entity [x] that already existed". I'd never seen those lines on startup before. So I used the kill command and suddenly lag went away and server stopped crashing. Definitely appears to be a bug in 1.10.

Well look, while it might be nice to have those arguments which I can find no info on anywhere (and I'm beginning to question whether they actually exist). I'm certain it isn't required as I've never had them before. I'm fairly certain 1.10 has corrupted something. My only question is can it be fixed or do I need to revert to a backup and abandon 1.10 until they bring out a patch to prevent this?

Mc is slowly getting more intensive CPU and ram wise but your crash report shows watching server which is like a safety net to stop the server as it can't tick fast enough and to prevent damage. And your java arguments are incomplete as they only show your ram configured these need to machines your hardware same as you do in your client

So what you are saying is that 1.10, a pretty small little patch, suddenly means a 4 player server requires more RAM than 5GB? I'm just not buying that. It crashes when I'm the only one on, so really a 1 player server requires more than 5GB? Where as 1.9.4 ran perfectly fine, and 5GB was really overkill.

As for these java arguments, unless you have documentation on them, your statement is meaningless to me. My server is set up as Mojang suggests it right here... https://minecraft.net/en/download/server. Simply stating "finish your java arguments" doesn't help, I have no idea what that means.

Your server is shutting down due to lag try upping your ram and finish configuring your java arguments to match your hardware

That has never happened prior to 1.10 though. There are only 4 people on this server and it has plenty of RAM. I've been running this machine as a server since 1.2 under the same conditions.

I'm fairly certain this is a new issue with 1.10.

I'm suddenly getting a constant server crash almost immediately after starting up. I've been running 1.10 all day today without a problem, but suddenly this started this evening. This is a vanilla private server.

Or, you know, sleep and skip the night entirely.
    Or build fences/a wall.
Or light up a large portion of the surrounding area.

It's not that difficult. Also remember that the game gets harder the longer you stay in one place now.

I have fences, that doesn't help, zombies still see you. The other two suggestions are only usefull playing solo.

Still too much then, they need to adjust it down a bit more. I spend the whole night fending them off and get no work done, not to mention cleaning them up most of the morning. Might as well just sit in my house.

Doesn't matter if you pay attention to your surroundings. Because what are you going to do if you know there is a zombie there? Your going to attack it and begin the endless wave.

I'm not totally against this idea, but I am against the exponential growth. If they made it so that spawned zombie can't spawn zombies it would be better.

At the very least make it so that zombies spawned by zombies can not spawn zombies themselves. Seriously, you can't do anything at night anymore, except fend off endless hordes of zombies.

Actually they are un-able to sue or file a lawsuit. they have Putt-Putt trademark... Not Putt Putt. Therefor they are unable to sue or file a lawsuit for a phrase that they do not own. They may own "Putt-Putt" , But they do not own "Putt Putt".

Actually that doesn't matter. You can't have anything too similar either. Just ask the guy selling "Eat More Kale" T-Shirts.

posted a message on What do you think of using randomness as a way to balance the game?
If that's your definition of rouge-like then every video game ever made is rouge-like. All games have some degree of randomization in the world or enemies. We are talking things like enchantments. The types of things where you have to grind to get what you want, and may not, rather than selecting... "I want to buy the [x] enchantment".

Personally, I kind of like the randomness too. But I can see how people who bought the game expecting it to be casual play rather than rouge-like might be a little miffed that every new thing added is becoming a grind to get.

It's rogue-like gameplay. Comes with the territory.

I think what they are getting at is this isn't a rogue-like game. Mojang seems to be reversing direction on the game play style and that is alienating people who came to this game for it's casual play.

    Quote from RainbowBeefcake

Hey guys, I'm looking for a survival server that is up all the time that my friends and I can play on. I've looked around at can't find anything I like. I want to be on one that doesn't give stuff to those who donate or vote for it, I don't want to be on anything huge or with too many plugings. The only plugin that I find necessary is essentials or really just anything that allows you to lock chests and set home.
    -Thanks a Million,
    RainbowBeefcake

My server is basically that. Most of the plugins are administrative to combat griefers. Other than GriefPrevention and a little bit of Essentials there isn't much more you need to know about for the users.

I'm a mod developer and I don't want this. I would like the API so I can develop off of snapshots and be ready for release on time... but I don't want them to slow down.
