dude this suggestion is awesome. I personaly think that you should have rouges. rouges would be aggresive to everything including mobs except other rouges. there should be like hidden fortresses depending on where they are. in a jungle there fortress would be a treehouse. a treehouse has a 10% chance of spawning on any jungle tree. in snow biomes there would be giant igloos. they spawn on ice and also have a 10% chance of spawning. plains and extreme hills/hills would be a normal fortress. these have the same spawn rate a normal villages in vanilla minecraft. deserts would be the same only it would be made out of sandstone. mushroom island would have the fortress made out of dirt. i made models in my world. They will also come in different sizes
good idea, just needs to be fleshed out a bit more
I PLAN ON UPDATING THE THREAD WITH ALL THE STUFF RECENTLY TALKED ABOUT BUT HAVE BEEN REALLY BUSY WITH SCHOOL....
7 assignments and everytime i finish one i get another one.

See this newbies? This is an ACTUAL suggestion. HEROBRINE is not a suggestion. This is!

I think this idea is really good but some of the ideas are stupid. I think this is how it should work
The villages should be about 3 in a group, seperated by about 30 blocks
The villages will be developing, starting of small and neighbourly
They will have walls which they will expand to build the city and only made out of wood
There will be war, over excessive land, stealing and previous attacks
When they are at war they will try to burn down the village but the villages will be ready to stop the fire
There will be reputations but it only affects the quality of the trades
There will be soldiers, iron golems and traps
So basically everything i already have.
One thing: No way villages are ever going to spawn so common as 3 within 30 blocks, do you even know how far that is? thats a tiny distance.

Maybe you should try and assemble an team of coders, I'm sure you can find tons of people who can help you(and you will need it considering the size of the project).
It just seems like too much work for me as i already have so many things going on.

just wondering, what's the difference between a king and a leader?
The villagers call their leader a leader until they have upgraded to a castle. Then they call their leader a king

Yes this sounds fine and good, and i love the idea, but your asking to add another whole "game" to minecraft.
If we started on a blank page, BRAND NEW GAME! And we put everything you suggested into this "new game", it would hold up pretty well with some minor changes to your character.
If it was put in, it would be asking Jeb to drop everything he's doing and start working on this. It sounds like no updates for a little less than a year.
I love the idea, but it seems too much in one little area. It's like making a 5000 word long post on how we should improve trees. About how there should be a few thousand types of trees and dozens of ways of cutting them down and making them grow and grow and drop seeds and tip over and hit the ground.
You've put a lot of thinking into this, but your asking them to put a whole new "game" into the game.
I'm not saying this is a bad idea, i'm just saying it's overboard. Wayyyyyy overboard. You've thought this out well, so well that it would stand on it's own without needing minecraft anymore.
I know people say that an idea shouldn't be thrown away because it would be a lot of work, but this...this is a LOT of thinking and planning, a bit too much thinking and planning.
yeah, i know its alot to add, but not all needs to be added.

I like most of your ideas, but I completely disagree with the races. I think the testificates are already good enough and your other ideas are incredibly cliche. Atleast the vanilla testificates are original...
The rest of your ideas are very well thought through. I think it would be extremely hard if not impossible to code this though, maybe you should try to make a mod of this.
The first step is to learn code....
It will be a long and painful road, dont worry though, next semester im learning my first bit of code. Will help me learn java if i already know a different language

An NPC castle and potentially war? YES!!! I'd love this! Then you can make your own kingdom which is actually inhabited and operational. Plus, on servers, players can make forts and have wars, or in other words, a new kind of PvP. MEGA SUPPORT!!!
Yes, because if people do enough good things for certain villages then they can join that village, meaning you can have many players on one villages team and many on the other, then you can tell the king to send his troops to war against the other players village and huge NPC/player vs NPC/player combat ensues, would be very interesting!
Oct 24, 2012thanks for all this positive feedback about races, will be updating main post once im done with all my current school assingmentsPosted in: Suggestions

Also, I was thinking custom architecture for each race? In a creative world, I have been creating an Arabian style city, except made out of pillars called Ufar and a cavern/mountain fort town called Redmurk. Redmurk is simply carved into the sides of mountains, and goblin designs are very egyptian esque.
yes, another good thing. I like where we are going, the races do need a lot more focus right now

THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDED, would be a great improvment for minecraft

Looks awesome, but the amount of changes you seem to be suggesting seems to be enough for a 'Villager Update'. 1.6?
I can only hope!

This is kinda like the milliner mod but much more in depth, I congratulate you for this.
I was also thinking they could have emotions to what kind of biome they are in (this means implementing new villages). Say a village in a ravine would have a bit of fear when it turns night or a village in a jungle would be in extreme fear when a zombie or a player walks in holding any kind of axe
Mabye, might fit it with what the guy below was talking about
Quote from flashman7870
how about each race could spawbn in all biomes, but has a larger chance in some then others? IE Noses are most likely to spawn in forest or Taiga.
Humans are most likely to spawn in plains.
Pigmen are most likely to spawn in swamps.
Goblins are most likely to spawn in jungle or desert.
And Dwarves in mountains, ravines or large caverns.
YES YES YES!!! im loving this!

I like all the ideas, I really want smarter NPC's in the game, although the only things I'm not sure about are the new items. I think that a few of them could get put in, but not all. Also, I think the Nosemen should only sell non-combat items and no pickaxes, making them a farming race. Like this, each race would have a different ability, so the Nosemen farm better, the Goblins have more numbers, the Dwarves mine better (like you mentioned), the Humans would be good crafters, although I haven't thought of the Pigman abilities.
Okay, i almost have enough stuff to add to the main post.
Also, pigmen could grow apple orchards? just have a special type of tree only around those villages that drops an apple every 3 minecraft days.
Stuff to add will be:
Leaders sell a map locked on the town with a marker where the town is, and add that marker to all other maps so you can find your way back.

Minecraft is not, and never will be, an RPG.
Oh no the butthurt, I DONT WANT RPG!!! OMFG!!! kids are here... seriously, it would just be a world option, you can completely ignore it.
Quote from ludo0777
I agree they should be improved, but I don't want vanilla minecraft to be to much like an rpg. On the other hand, villager battles would be fun to watch!
thanks for voicing your opinion better that the last guy, dont worry it would be a world option, and yes, i would love to just stumble across some villagers in a fight.

This is a really well written post, it would be awesome if we could like purchase property or just begin to build at the village, but villages are rare though!
i dont want you to have to build property, the npcs would just ignore areas in and around places where there is lots of user placed blocks while they build
Oct 20, 2012Posted in: SuggestionsQuote from epicfireblazedragon
well at first you wanted it to be a forced feature, then someone suggested it as a world option
anyway, my suggestion is (not sure you heard this before..) is that if you a close to a king of a faction and you are his advisor, and one of the villages in the faction maybe is losing a fight or is falling behind in crops or something, he should give you temporary ownership of that village in the faction so you can fix it up and help them out for a while. The king would give you a -Marked- map so you know how to get there. Anyway, good idea, maybe a bit too much because minecraft would get too much attention on villages, and please consider my suggestion
i like the marked map thing, but i dont think you should take over the entire town to help someone out who is behind, you can always put an emerald in their chest and that would raise your reputation with them and they would be able to start up their farm again.
Might add the marked map thing to the main post when i get the time

I like the way villagers are now, they don't need war and factions, and as for the names and families they are not really necessary. I like the basic idea but not how you want it.
i really hate repeating myself, but just like every other single time someone has said this, i say: Thats why i am suggesting it as a world option
Oct 13, 2012getting the same problem, its very buggy at the moment, if i put two items in and they go over the experience cap when i try to rename i can only backspace once, then the menu breaks, and i have to close it.Posted in: Future Updates
also, has anyone tried combining items and then renaming the item you get from that, to see if you can rename super strong items? Hope they remove the cap....
