How can I disable those annoying hunters? They often attack creepers, many explosions, and my domain looks like the battlefield of WW2.

    posted a message on [1.8.7 / 1.7.10 and earlier][update 4/23] MCPatcher HD fix 5.0.3
The patcher doesn't work correctly with Minecraft Extended and HD textures when I use mods with 16x and HD textures. Some textures are seem to be overlapped and item textures are interlaced. Could there be a fix for that? I tried to get rid of 16x textures by resizing them, but Minecraft crashed with the such error:
    java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Width (0) and height (0) must be > 0

Smooth landscape and cubic structures break the impression.
Structures are called structures because they are assembled from straight lines and geometric shapes :smile.gif: Making the manmade blocks cubic despite of smooth natural is needed to have an ability to create beautiful buildings and other structures. But they may be supplemented with additional blocks of different shapes, like slopes, corners, furniture and so on.

Hm, thanks for your suggestion, Lama :smile.gif: I'll ask moderators to move the thread to the proper place.

One of the reasons that Minecraft is fun is because its simple.
That's why there're many threads about exploration enhancement :smile.gif: The game needs an extensive growth.

When you are wearing them, you power anything next to you.
Pressure plates will do the work in most cases.

It'd be much easier to hide secret doors
Anyone in redstone boots > no secrets at all.

I can't pretend how the transition between normal and on-wall horisontal rails will look like... And minecart shoult fall if its speed will decrease under some level, of course :smile.gif: I think, for some creative or "LulzCraft" gamers it will be useful, but not for all the masses though.

Still think the current way of "everything is cubes" would work best...
In Minecraft — yes. But what if it can be used in some other "dig, craft & build" game?

I meant how am I supposed to acquire cubes of construction material from a smooth surface like that
Like now, by digging/mining :smile.gif: The only difference is when you dig out a single block, the pit will not be cubic, but will have the slopes.

how am I supposed to fit said cube on said surface if it isn't perfectly level?
Manmade blocks will be snapped to the cubic grid as normal. Here's the sample of some manmade (gray) pillar, which is built on smoothed landscape:

That's the main point of an idea, natural blocks can have different (not only 90°) inclines, but all manmade will be cubic and perfect :smile.gif:

There would have to be different shapes of blocks which would greatly decrease performance on the chunk generation
No, geometry like this can be built as fast as cube-based.

the entire point of Minecraft is that everything is pixelated and blocky.
But it's blocky because its world is blocky :smile.gif: What if world will be smooth-shaped, how graphics style can look with that technology?

Plus, where am I expected to find blocks in all that mess?
This should be applied only for natural blocks such as dirt, stone, etc. All of manmande will consist of cubes, of course. World is still voxelized, but it only change its appearance to be more natual.

I want to investigate what people think about non-cubic, but still voxelized landscape. It looks like this:

Of course, this techique is only applicable to natural landscapes/materials, manmande structures should be represented with cubes as normal :smile.gif:

How HD textures will fit in the such world? Will it reqire a non-cubic entities and mobs too?

P.S. I know that that's impossible to implement in Minecraft today or ever, this topic is created only to determine, what people think of the world that is not based on the square.

P.P.S. This can be not applicable for only Minecraft, but for some other sandbox, voxel-based game.

UPD: Resetted the poll, thread was in wrong place and results were not relevant.

Also, space (or unlimited sky height) can't be implemented due to technical reasons: skylight needs to be emitted from the top of the map. Then, if there's no "top sky", there's no lighting calculations.
