The update hasn't affected my FPS, I am still getting 200-something FPS (with performance balance). Unfortunately the damn server-to-client lag keeps ****ing me up.

    Lighting glitches, lighting glitches everywhere.

It practically ensures every chunk looks like ****, I'm surprised more people haven't pointed this out.

I might as well post what every other pompous and ignorant person on the forums will post.

    "Deal with it."

But honestly, these bugs seem pretty serious, I guess these will be added to the already near endless amount of bugs, I guarantee most of these will be overlooked by the time 1.3 is out, hopefully the credits glitch will be fixed though, seeing as how it's game breaking.

Jesus! another one of these threads? I swear, there are fads popping up every now and then on this forum that people whine about.

*whining about pistons was once all the rage
*whining about the full release has also been a what-you-must-do subject
*Voicing your opinion about poor terrain generation belongs in here too
*whining about books needing leather was hip

:( there has been so many of these threads I can't remember them all

Because lag isn't an issue right?

That's impossible. Every real game has glitches no matter what.

You can't deny that running off of a server causes a RIDICULOUS amount of bugs. As it stands single player isn't even playable (obviously), but even if the major issues are sorted out we would still have to deal all of the synchronization issues.

The Server-to-Client architecture needs to be completely reworked and optimized.

In case anyone disagrees with me, please ride in a boat in singleplayer.

Whether or not these issues will be fixed remains to be seen, as we have heard nothing.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would want it implemented the way it is now, it needs to be drasicly optimised so we don't have to deal with all of the desync issues.

I've had no lag whatsoever with the Snapshots.. The closest thing to that is the glitchy boats.

NPCs, arrows, maps, boats, minecarts, etc all lag. Basically all entities lag now as a result of the client having to sync up with the server. I haven't even touched on the chunk generation lag/chunks not saving at all issue.

The great part is everyone will experience this, regardless of what setup they have. All input must be synced to the server, sure it's not immediately noticeable, but it's much less enjoyable playing when everything isn't as fluid.

I have no problem with never updating Minecraft again, I love new content as much as the next person, but these server-to-client sync issues cannot stand.

They are actually making the game faster. It is a snapshot, I would imagine you would expect bugs such as lag.

Don't be so presumptuous, as long as a server is necessary in connecting to the client there will always be lag, there is absolutely no way around it. The best we could hope for is making as many action client-side as possible, it won't fix the input lag, but it would at least make it less noticeable.

If by "new Minecraft" you mean laggy and unresponsive gameplay then I hate it.

posted a message on Does the 12w21b courput your world?
I've noticed certain world chunks don't save at all after leaving the game. It's not even a load glitch, the blocks literally don't exist anymore because the chunk itself was never saved.

    Welcome to the new Minecraft.

posted a message on 12w21b bug: mining into the void
At the moment all of the bugs which currently exist in multiplayer now exist in singleplayer. Data has to be synced between the client and the "Server", which causes a whole host of problem like these.

I haven't heard any mention of whether or not these these bugs can be circumvented, but right now the entire community is assuming it will all be fixed before 1.3 is out.

Just back up your saves and you should be fine for now.

It's a shame boats will no longer work correctly from now on. (Among other things)

Yes yes, I understand it's a SNAPSHOT, I get it. But the simple matter is, client to server lag can never be fixed, only optimized.

The boat is just one example, and the most easy to observe.

As long as this type of personal server-to-client architecture problems like this will always exist. Minecraft will never run as smooth as it once did, because now every action has to be synced with the server.

I won't complain until the actual update is out, but I guarantee a lot of these bugs we see will still persist, as there is no real way to circumvent them.

It's a biome generation glitch which can occur during chunk loading.

Known bug, and not too uncommon. I've noticed it mostly occurs in servers.

    Quote from Captain_Chaos

Ah! Thanks for finding this out. I'll make it so WorldPainter only renders the topmost block as Mycelium, and any lower blocks as Dirt (like it already does for Grass, so with Grass you should not encounter this problem).

Awesome, thanks for your response. :)

    I'm glad I noticed it.
