Internet connection is ~450mbps, I doubt that was the problem. I say was because I solved it myself.
I used the /kill command to respawn, then moved the server "world" folder to the single player Minecraft "saves" folder, then loaded up the nether from there. When I was sure that it worked, I just put the world back in the server folder.
I've been hosting my own server through Hamachi for the last few weeks and finally got around to creating a Nether portal. The first time I entered it, I got the normal "downloading terrain" screen before the connection timed out. Every time I try to reconnect now, I get an error message that says "Failed to connect to the server/ java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information"
I'd guess something went wrong between me teleporting to the nether and the nether being generated for the first time on the server.

If I were to give one of you a Techne Model file, could you make it into a working, passive mob mod? I've been trying all day and just can't seem to understand how the whole process works.
I'm starting to work on a District 9-themed adventure map and want to replace the villagers with the prawns from district 9. I'm relatively new to modding, having installed a few mods but never having created one. So I was wondering if it would be possible for me to model an alien with Techne, then have someone replace the villagers with that model. I'd also create a texture pack, although I'm not exactly sure how to map it out.
Also, if this is possible, how detailed can I get with the model?
I was thinking of jointed arms and legs and antennae on the head as well as possible protrusions for detail on the body. The facial tentacles would be texturized.

java -Xmx1024M -jar minecraft_server.1.8.1.jar -o true
PAUSE
in a .bat file.
I'm wondering if I can amp up the allotted RAM for the server so it actually generates the nether because I've got 16GB.

...How do I do that, exactly? And what is MCP, a mod?
Also, what would I do in the temp file, just add files to it?

Thanks for reading, if you do.
