If it matters, I've been running my server since 1.7, and people have been able to connect easily. I think that the update to 1.1 caused this; I'm going to reinstall the server software and see if that helps.
I've had my server for quite a while now, but recently, when people have attempted to connect, they started getting timed out. Even though my ports are forwarded (25565 TCP/UDP, Private and Public), this still happens. Usually, when someone else views my server from their client, they get a "Polling" message, and then a "Can't reach server" message, and whenever I try to check if the server is online, it shows as offline. I'm using the vanilla server software, version 1.1. I'm on OSX version 10.6.8. Can I get any help?

like above, if the server ip is filled in the properties files, then remove it.
else check if you dont have any server running in the background, i don't know how to check it on mac so you have too google that if you dont know it yourself
I am not sure because sometimes my internet does not let me access my routers webpage it says something like this page is controlled by 192.168.?.? which is mine and then after i reset my router again it works. give it a go it may work after you reset your router. How long was the power outage? Because sometimes you need to keep your router off for about 30 seconds before you turn it back on.
Reset your router in your house it should sort it, or it may have reset/ changed your ip just check that you have port forwarded on the correct ip which is usally something like 192.168.?.?
I did check that the port was forwarded on the correct IP. Also, the router was turned off by the power outage, so I guess that was somewhat taken care of?
You truncated your server.log, which limits what we can tell of your issue...
Imma take a stab at the dark (not really since most people do this)...
Is server-ip filled out in your server.properties file? If so, for ****s sake... remove it. Having that anything but blank causes this error more often than other instances running...

This started happening about two days ago, when there was a power outage. I was running the server fine, but when the power came back on, I couldn't run the server with this error message.
[WARNING] **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[WARNING] The exception was: java.net.BindException: Can't assign requested address
[WARNING] Perhaps a server is already running on that port?
I thought what was happening was that because of the power outage, the server still believed it is running, so I restarted my computer.
No dice.
So, does anyone have any solutions?
UPDATE: When stopping the server (which still does not work) I get this error.
[SEVERE] Unexpected exception

This has not been fixed yet, any replies would be appreciated!

The server IP in server.properties is the internal IP (the one YOU use to connect to it).

79.45.256.267:25565
(That is probably not a real IP.)
Did you try that?

The outage lasted about a day.
