I hope to see renewable sources for things like gravel, sand, coco beans and maybe iron? (I know that people are looking at me wierd. Gravel = Arrows, Sand = Glass, Coco beans is the only food source that is not renewable and iron can sometimes be hard to find when you start in mineral-barren areas.) -
Sep 12, 2011AbeTheBlackFox posted a message on 1.8 Updates: Not Releasing Tuesday, Might UpdateIf you'd done your homework Cooldude, you'd know that when you have an Ender Pearl in your possession, the distance from which Endermen are aggro'd is halved. "Having an Ender pearl in your inventory will reduce their maximum range to the half, and you will therefore be able to get a closer look." http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/EndermanPosted in: News
The exp leveling will eventually yeild skill points, which apparently will be used to purchase upgrades for your jumping height, etc.
As I'm sure you've heard, the villages will be populated by pigmen as of 1.9.
As for the Strongholds, I've heard that Notch will eventually use these for "Boss" creatures. And as it is, the strongholds aren't empty. You just haven't found the residents yet. -
Sep 12, 2011AbeTheBlackFox posted a message on 1.8 Updates: Not Releasing Tuesday, Might Update1.8 will be better than Skyrim, even if Skyrim does release first.Posted in: News
Bethesda seems to be caring less and less about fixing major bugs in their games lately. It seems they're more concerned with mass-production. Eg. You couldn't do a damn thing in Oblivion without glitching quest lines (The Grey Fox never showing up, and being unable to delete spells from your list being two major problems that went ignored). Morrowind was just as bad, just in less horrific ways, there was still plenty of quest line glitches and cross-over errors, but it seems that the bug problems are getting worse. I pray for Skyrim to raise the standard, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Mojang is taking it's time, yes, but it's to ensure the quality of their content, not just throwing things at you, hoping they work. I have full respect for the developers, as I too would repeatedly delay an update to ensure that everything is operating at it's full potential. Personally, I'm having fun jumping ravines in the pre-release. -

I started taking screenshots since my 3rd world. It looked like crap back then, but like you said, true fans don't care. I think you'll agree with me when I say that if it takes them ages to fix 1.8 and release 1.9, I'm more than happy to wait. I'm playing The Sims 3 (PC), Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 and the pre-release 1.8.
My most favourite feature of the game is the active "trail and error" mechanics of the virtual reality. In no game I have ever played can I mine underground, break into a lava pocket and burn to death if I'm too slow to react. -
Sep 12, 2011AbeTheBlackFox posted a message on 1.8 Updates: Not Releasing Tuesday, Might UpdateWhoa, imagine the learning curve involved in that. To go from the game we have now to all of a sudden getting like 300 items in a major update. I think my head would explode.Posted in: News

I had to create an account just to throw my 2 cents in. Well, I can see how some people would be enraged about the delay of the release, if this is seriously the ONLY game they play, then yes, their life is "over". Which is really sad. There are plenty of games to occupy you for a few days til its out. no biggie. People like me learn to not fret over trivial things like this. It is just a game after all, the world isn't coming to an end, your lives aren't really "over" and for the love of God, quit threatening the people that created, work on, and brought you this wonderful game. It's immature, rude, and disrespectful.
Yes, they have given you the wrong date several times, but its alright, the game will come here when it does. you wouldn't tell a doctor to go **** himself if he said your wife was going to have her child tomorrow, then he said, well it might be in a few days or so, time will tell. Just let the men do their job, and wait. hell... go test the pre-release. I tried it and found the new terrain creation really great. Minecraft is STILL playable in 1.7, it didn't just become unfun all of a sudden. I enjoy Minecraft as I wait for more goodies to come our way.
If waiting for this update is really that painful, you might want to go to a therapist, because it seems you have serious dependency and attachment issues with this game. It's just plain silly how upset and shaken up people are getting over a game. And you call yourselves fans? You're like ravenous vultures clawing at each other and Mojang for some 1.8 flesh. And once this comes out, it'll only be a matter of days before you're RIGHT back here doing the exact same pathetic thing waiting, and bitching, and moaning like pregnant walrus for 1.9 and the final release.
I read through every page on here to see how many of you actually respect the time Mojang is taking to bring us a better polished, more refined 1.8 release and how many of you cant seem to quit PMS-ing about dates and what not. I've found that for every 1 person who is a true fan and ok with waiting, there are about 15 of you kids that cant accept how game development works and would rather cry, yell, and complain. Which means that out of the 3,438,053 people that have bought the game... sadly, only 229,203 of you are actual loyal fans. I'm proud to be part of that minority.
Well that felt good to get off my chest. If any of you agree, I would like some feedback. message me on here and share your opinions with me.
Even if you suddenly hate me for sharing my opinion and have a personal vendetta against me now, I would love to hear what you have to say as well.
Peace out!

Take as long as you guys need, If you release when its not ready these same tools will be complaining about server issues and crashes and bugs. Perhaps you should just scan thru the forums and send the update to the people who actualy appreciates the hard work that goes into making these games.
Now that's an idea. :laugh.gif: It'll cull the noob population too. BONUS! :cool.gif:
Seriously, I'd love to see you whingy bastards do half of the stuff these guys can do. :huh.gif:
I don't think you lot realise how much of a time-consuming pain in the ass programming is. One symbol or space in the wrong place and the coding goes to shjt. And the time required to find and repair the glitch. Yeesh. To think I'm going into uni so I can do this. I feel exhausted just thinking about it. :sleep.gif:
They've released a bugged beta version of 1.8 so you impatient trolls can start playing with a majority of the planned content. And you're still not happy? :dry.gif:
I've been playing Minecraft since 1.1.2 Alpha. I paid for an account after one night of playing. No game has ever made me want to spend money so quickly, and it wasn't very expensive. All the veteran players have watched Minecraft grow and develop into what it is now. 1.8 is another big step into the future of the game, and you expect it to be availiable just like that? -snaps fingers- Sorry to disappoint, but it's not that simple.
I've been playing the pre-release for a couple days now, and I'm quite happy with what I've seen. Maybe those of you who whinge need to grow up. :huh.gif: -

If not, all you'll end up getting is the griefers, cuze none of the builders will want to join just to have their stuff destroyed/stolen.

I rolled as a testificate, made a new world "Rise of the Testificates" (chuckles at the Terminator reference)
Day three, I'm thriving well, but there's only two other tests left and I'm trying to get them together so they'll repopulate the village. lmao
I've already silenced the nearby graveyard of zombies, and broken one of the pots. Which had an ice demon thing in it. Which I killed, but now the village has an ice rink. XD

Ok, I have a bug here.
I tried to fix it myself and it didn't work.
I load the mod into the places you wanted.
(bin contents into the minecraft jar and resources into the resources folder)
I log in, and it freezes at 90% "Updating Minecraft" "Done loading"
It won't go further than that.
I tried redownloading the bin and reinstalling the mod. But same result. Any ideas?

Usually a single player requires a minimum of 11-12 obsidian blocks. Beyond that it's either wasteful or unnecessary, so it'd be nice to have a use for obsidian in the end game.

Consult the health points detailed in the Minecraft Wiki for each individual mob you want to kill.
Now here's the tricky part. You dig a 2x1 hole and you make it deep enough to drop your health down to the damage equivalent of what the hostiles have when you fall unarmoured, without jumping. (Build a ladder in one end of the hole so you can get back up.)
Eg. Creepers have 10 hearts, so you want a drop that takes 9.5 hearts.

I've seen hostiles fall down a ravine and survive! :sleep.gif:
To get them to die on impact, you're building a fall essentially from the top to the bottom of the world. That's a garaunteed kill. :cool.gif:

People don't read anymore.
A "Monkey" mob was put under the planned mobs category in the Minecraft Wiki. It was later removed, I suspect because Mojang wanted to make it a surprize.
Curse kinda spoilt the surprize though. Monkeys are distinctly mentioned in at exactly 2:01.
