Nope, I discovered Deadmau5 & Minecraft under completely separate circumstances. One didn't lead to the other, but I still thought it was awesome when I found out he played.

I think the smoothstone could use some contrast since it's pretty lacking when compared to the other blocks, but aside from that, very nice. (:

Amazing work! When are you going to release it?

At this point I'm thinking when I get it completely 1.8 ready sans items (so really just after I finish mobs & paintings I think), though i'm not sure on that since the full release is coming soon and I haven't even started on 1.9 things. :Ta

    In other news: Ghasts!

    A little hard to see in this shot since I failed at getting a close-up without the fireballs, but let me just say this is probably my favourite thing of all of the work I've done for this pack. ; u;

posted a message on The All-Inclusive Guide to Texturing
1)What texture editing program do you use and why?
Photoshop. I've been using it for years so I'm the most comfortable in it. It's also very good for making textures because it supports transparency (a must for texture making) as well as some conveniences like layers, level/hue/curves (among other things, though I use those the most when I want to make color changes without recoloring pixel by pixel), both soft and hard brushes, layer opacity, and layer blend styles.

2)What do you think are the basic 'styles' of texture packs? What defines those styles?
Everything I wanted to say here has already been said, so i'll opt out of this question.

3)To Be Simple, Or Not to Be Simple: What is a 'simple' pack? Is there a difference between 'simple' and 'simplistic'? What are the common mistakes of simple packs? How can they be avoided? Should simple packs even be made at all?
A simple pack is a minimalistic pack. It says a lot with only a little. I think that before one sets out to make a "simple" pack, they should poke around a bit and see what's already been done. A lot of simplepack creators, I've noticed, seem to think that their concept is a unique thing, when in fact the thing they make often looks exactly the same as 20 other simple packs.

Many people also seem to have the idea that super simple packs are all you can do with 16x because of how tiny a workspace you have. This simply isn't true--as most of us here know, you can fit a lot into a little 16x16 pixel box if you know what you're doing.

As for if they should be made or not, it depends on what the creator intends to do with it. In general I think a simple pack is a great way to learn the ropes of how textures and texturing works. But if it's the same handful of textures I'm going to find a dozen times over by searching for "simplecraft," it's better not to release. A well done, truly unique simple pack takes skill--the whole idea of calling it "simple" is amazingly deceptive.

Changed the stone to be less bedrocky and hard on the eyes, hopefully.

    Also, zombies!

    Nope, not a one.
My creeper pumpkin did get kicked around a bit, which ripped off a lot of the paint and made it look like it had exploded or some such thing, which I found amusing.

Since response on the brand-new Weekly Content Contest has been so positive, we are making some revisions to the proposed schedule. One of those changes? Announcing the theme of the week a bit earlier, to give people plenty of time to work on submissions! We want to make sure everyone has a chance to make their entries the best they can be, and have as much fun with the contest as possible. Texture packs, mods and skins can all take awhile to create, and we want to make sure everyone has a fair chance!

This week's theme is: Halloween Texture Pack!

Here's how it works: between now and Wednesday, November 2nd, participants create (or enter an already created) appropriately themed texture pack. When your entry is completed, entries can be submitted in this thread by filling out the following:

Name(s) of who is working on the entry:
Image(s) of the entry (if there are more than 2 images, please use Spoiler tags):
    Download link for the entry:

Any number of people can work on the entry, and we encourage you to create your entry however you like, with whoever you like! When you've completed your entry, fill out the above and post it in this thread! On Wednesday, November 2nd, we will pick out approximately 10 entries, and create a voting thread. That's where everyone gets to participate; we need you guys to vote on the winners! On Friday, November 4th at 6pm GMT, we will tally up the votes, and whoever has the most votes will have a feature article review on the front page that same day!

Additionally, we will announce the medium and theme for the following week's contest on Friday. While we cannot divulge the theme just yet, we can say that the medium will be mods, so keep an eye out for that! We look forward to seeing your entries - good luck!

Note - every Weekly Content Contest will focus on the most recent full release of Minecraft at the time the contest begins. Presently, that is 1.8.1.

Right from the home page :smile.gif: .

I now have motivation to frantically finish my wip pack :tongue.gif:.

I'm not even going to bother trying to enter that. I haven't even gotten to a releasable state in my first pack so there's no way I can Halloweenify it that fast.

posted a message on what would happen
If you put a character skin as the creeper texture file, it would wrap around the creeper model just the same. The texture file does not determine the shape of the entity.
