    Last time I checked, the random textures support was working. I'll install Optifine and take a look! That's one of my favourite ways to use the resourcepack. =) Of course, now that there's models in the newest snapshots I've been using the snapshot versions almost exclusively!Also redstone is currently screwed up if you're not using the snapshot, that's something I need to fix. xD

    A tool much like that 'model maker for mods' that will generate the coding for you and let you freely see what you're doing.

    Someone will probably make it after the modelling format is completely stabilised--if they make it sooner rather than later they'll end up having to rewrite things, most likely.

    I'll admit that this is really hard to do without that currently, tho.
    Here are some of my personal tips:
    • Keep the f3 menu open, this gives you some nice info.
    • Stand so that your cursor vertices are facing the correct way:

    • The corner that it's pointing to (the one furthest from the camera) is ( 0, 0, 0 )
      (x is red, y is green, blue is z)
    • The f3 screen will also give you which cardinal direction you're currently facing--sides of unrotated cuboids are labelled the same way.
    • The easiest way to make a new cube is to simply copy an old cube.
    • y in minecraft starts at 0 going up, while y in the images starts at 0 going down.
    • f3 + t to refresh your models, a lot! x3

    Hope this helps if you attempt it by hand more!

    Something to note here, the way you've currently done it (with a cube only using 2 of the faces) is probably the best way to do it. I think (I'm sorry, I don't remember where, I read both on Mojangsters' twitter and reddit pages) that one of the devs said that planes will be dropped entirely because you can just as easily make cubes with 1/2 faces.

    I did not know about that! I'll switch it back, then, I'm more for upwards compatibility than it being simpler/faster currently. =P

    I guess I really shouldn't expect to be mentioned by big community members like that, as to not get my hopes up, like 100% of the time :/

    Tends to be the case with most things in life! Revel in the fact that at least there are a few people who appreciate what you're doing. =)

    Me, I prefer doing a run-and-gun and just making a model based on images. The "run-and-gun" method is especially easy now that models refresh with the other resources, as you can do quick edits and see if it works, just like you can with textures.

    Same. =D

    You could replace the flat cube with a two sided plain. No visual difference, but might be slightly faster

    I tried that and couldn't get it to work, so I just did what I knew how to do. xD

    My current code:
    {   "type": "cube",
        "from": [ 0, 0, 0 ],
        "to": [ 16, 0, 16 ],
        "faceData": {
            "down":  {"uv": [ 0, 0,  16, 16 ], "textureFacing": "down"},
            "up":    {"uv": [ 0, 0,  16, 16 ], "textureFacing": "down"}
        }
    }

    My plane attempt that didn't work:
    {   "type": "plane",
        "from": [ 0, 0, 0 ],
        "to": [ 16, 0, 16 ],
        "facing": "up",
        "twoSided": true,
        "faceData": {
            "uv": [ 0, 0, 16, 16 ],
            "textureFacing": "down",
            "cull": false
        }
    }

    I just tested it again tho and now it seems to work? Maybe I had some silly typo in there somewhere. xD

    I think the workbench is a solid block, and you shouldn't be modelling a solid block in a way that exposes faces like that. Things that are already transparent (flowers, torches, slabs, doors, and even glowstone though it looks solid) are the only things you should be modelling in a way that faces are exposed.

    Very true! It was just the bottom face that was the problem on my model, I ended up fixing it by laying a flat cube on the bottom with that texture:

    I think it still kind of works in the ways that solid blocks are supposed to, personally! Just looks nicer. =)

    Thanks for being so attentive to this topic, btw! You're a very kind person. <3

    I'm not really sure I understand the concept of culling, I guess? Also, is there a way to turn off the culling by default on blocks when they're next to a block which used to be one that caused culling? I redid the workbench and the blocks around it have invisible faces now, so.

    Sorry if I'm being stupid. xD

    Oh, darn, I just found out that you can't reuse 3d meshes on slanted rails. Rotation rescaling doesn't work. D=

    Does anyone know how to make NEI show what mod a block/item is from?

    EDIT: Nvm, found it. It's a separate mod called Waila. =)

    We should try to figure out how to add the fez music and sounds to the game, would be pretty cool.

    I know exactly how, and actually have all the sounds/music from fez, ready to import into the pack. The thing is, I'm not sure if it's allowed, and since Phil Fish isn't even active on things anymore, I don't know who to ask. I suppose if this pack is noticed and they don't want the sounds/music in it then I'll take it out.

    I added some step sounds, changed the menu/dispenser click sound, and the open/closing sounds. I have more, but I'm a little busy right now, so I'll add more later.

    Love them but the little villager with the fu manchu is a bit strange.

    That's based on a character from the actual game FEZ named Geezer. =)

    I can't seem to get it to download.

    Through dropbox? Oh, that's strange, I can't either. Dropbox downloads must be down! I'll upload the current .zip to my website.

    Wait, actually, it just started the zip download. It takes a while! I guess that's because there are so many files in the texturepack.
    Of course, I do have a lot of untextured modpack files in there.

    I'll upload a default minecraft version as a .zip. Give me ten minutes. =)

    EDIT: Updated the downloads section. Now, since I have a symbolic link connecting my FEZ folder in dropbox with the resourcepack in dropbox, it's VERY up to date. That means every time I change a texture, it updates to dropbox in real time! It's incredibly handy. Both the vanilla and mod support downloads use this technique. The direct zips, however, I'll just update whenever someone asks.
