Look, I don't like to be the person who's annoying and ignorant, but I have a serious question:
Why don't modders like being pestered to update something? This proves that you're mod is so good and so much people love it. I mean, isn't the point of a mod to add a new dimension to minecraft with new features and to make minecraft players enjoy the game more or at least enjoy it? If so many people pester you for an update, it just shows that what you give to the people is amazing and lots of people are happy. I don't understand why it's so bad to be reminded to update. Ok, sure you have your own life to work on and enjoy, but isn't coding enjoyable? It's a beautiful form of art and it's even more beautiful when so much people love your art and recommend it to their friends and relations. It's not like you HAVE to listen to the mass (except for suggestions, then you might want to lend an ear .). I mean, it's not like that if you don't update a mod to another version for a long time, then we'll go to your house/villa and kill you or mug you or something. We don't care how long it takes to update a mod, as long as you do it in a comfortable and enjoyable pace. We only pester for an update because we're so loyal to you and your mod that we'll do anything for you. We're always here for you, and we would never hurt you. I hope I didn't insult you or any modder that's looking at this, but I really think that asking for an update to this mod just shows that what you're doing is amazing and so many people love you for working on something this amazing with what little time we all have in life.
Firstlty, I really like how you said “It's a beautiful form of art and it's even more beautiful when so much people love your art and recommend it to their friends and relations”. That actually gave me a bit of a warm feeling
Now a quick definition of pester
Trouble or annoy (someone) with frequent or persistent requests or interruptions
Annoying someone is never a good thing, especially when it is to release something that is for all intensive purposes a hobby (I am also using it to sharpen my Java skills). I get that people like the mod and want to play it, but that does not excuse them posting and PM'ing me constantly mere hours after an update(the latter is the one I have the major problem with and was forced to disable my PM). Yes any single person might “pester” once which they may not see as quite bad, but when I receive messages numbering into the double digits in a single day you can see how annoying it would be.
Not only that bust some of the messages I get can be downright rude or even hostile. I have been called names for not updating within 3 days of minecraft updating (despite it being mid week and forge was still yet to update) and was recently told that I should “Stop doing 'Real Life Stuff' and update my mod instead, because my mod is more important”. I would like to point out that the 'Real Life Stuff' is actually me writing a scientific paper and trying to find a job. I think the problem is most of the crowd in this community is very young with little life experience.
Furthermore, it is also against the rules, likely due to the fact that most modders feel the same way.

On the Battlegear note: Will it be possible to Shield-Bash? You could fix the controls like, right click with the shield to block, and then, while holding the right-click, left click to smash your foe with a mighty Bash! And please don't add a Stamina bar or something like that, because with vanilla blocking, we don't have one, and limitations like that makes the mod harder to play with
Keep up the good work, and remember, we pester, cause we care .
Shield bashing was actually already implemented in the old system, and I don't really see a reason it shouldn't be included again. It was actually implemented the same way as you mentioned (i.e. pressing left mouse button while blocking with right mouse). Ideally I will do it the same way again, but if I can't for whatever reason (the backend stuff is quite different) then I will just bind it to a special key, which I am half considering doing anyway.
The reason for the stamina bar was one of balance. I don't want to make the shields into a “god item” that make the game too easy, the stamina/block bar made it so you had to time your blocking (a bit). The other option I was considering was having it based on damage absorbed rather than time (so it will only decrease when the shield absorbs damage) but I am still not too sure about this one.

Anyways, I'm guessing if flan doesn't update within a month (so by august 31st), I should say that people would have the right to decompile the codes, figure out the coding of the mod, update and fix things, and then recompile, and release an UNOFFICIAL version of the mod.
Why am I saying this? Its because I'm giving flan about a month to update this mod. Its great and all, but its the update time that counts. Sure, his last update took almost 2 months (probably), this time is one month. I'm sorry flan if I'm telling people to do this, but you just gotta keep up with the fourms. You may be in college now, and I know how important that is, but you will be remembered for this awesome mod.

Do you know how hard it is to code something like this?
It could be ages for you guys if you want all bugs gone and everything to be perfect.
Maybe some bugs are permanent.
Either way, if you don't like waiting, why don't you go code your own mod. Nothing is perfect here
