I see no reference to lanterns. The closest thing I see is a lamp that turns off/on with redstone. Like redstone torches only they turn on when they have power and off when they don't, and (I assume) are brighter.
Which, incidentally, is awesome.

I assume you mean "HAS NOT ARRIVED"
Everybody: Until you see it here, it's not out.

The (original) joke is fine. It's a classic running gag and it's still funny.
Every other post in this thread being about the joke... That's what's getting (has gotten) old.

While this will technically work in 4.1 (there is a little stronghold area way off in a corner, I believe), it's not necessary. The Blaze Spawner is still there. I decided in the end that that's kind of the signature way to progress in this map.
The new map, which I'll hopefully reveal on Wednesday when 1.5 comes out, has a Nether tailored around getting blazes (and all other baddies) because you're in a stronghold.
BTW: I'm going out of town for St. Patrick's day. If 1.5 does not come out on Wednesday (or comes out too late on Wednesday even) I may not be able to post the maps until Monday or Tuesday.

You need a repeater after the very first line of redstone wire. The chest only powers the redstone with the very slightest charge. A repeater will turn that small charge into a full 16-strength signal.
Also, I've not gotten the trapped chest to send its signal through a wall. It works fine through the floor though.

Then generate the map in vanilla, and then exit out and reload it with Railcraft.

Too many requirements, and the house may get a bit gaudy. Also, space is getting tight and while I'm not totally averse to adding another page, I'd like to keep the number of pages as low as is possible.

Good idea. I have made that change.
I like both of those. I didn't add anything specific for quartz because I was trying to get away from the busy work part (Make a stone wall. BOR-RING. And before you ask, the wool and potions are different because they each require you to complete several sub-tasks first, all of which are more interesting than baking some cobblestone and crafting a wall). I considered "Use a daylight detector to do something useful" but that seemed a little *too* vague.
Here are the three pages I changed:
BUILDING:
-Enchanting Room
-A House for yourself (Include Brick, Nether Brick, Stone Brick, and Quartz)
-Cobblestone generator
-Giant red mushroom
-Giant brown mushroom
-Mob farm
-Grass for Animals (Min. 8x8)
GENERAL (2/3):
-Make a jukebox and collect records for it
-Automate something with pistons, hoppers, and/or dispensers
-Hang a map and at least 1 painting in your house
-Pot some plants for decoration
-Tame a Wolf
-Tame an Ocelot
FARMS (1/3):
-Mushroom (Min. 8x8 mycelium area)
-Pumpkin (Min. 1 stalk)
-Sugarcane (Min. 64)
-Jungle tree (Min. 4 or a 2x2 square)
-Birch tree (Min. 4)
-Spruce tree (Min. 4)
-Oak tree (Min. 4)

Sadly, since I've started working on 4.1 and the new map, I've essentially given up playing this one. The last time I played it, I recorded it and you watched it on YouTube. I've gotten a total of about 3 pigmen since I moved the portal, and only 2 of them died. Neither gave me any gold.
I considered for a moment making a massive gold farm with a lattice of Nether Portals, but - like I said - my interest in playing the map has waned. Maybe if/when I start a LP of the next map.
Thank you!

You've officially typo checked me! That was SUPPOSED to be Cake and Pie!
Rise it up about 25 meters and surround your portal with running water that will push them over an edge. Solves the problem AND nets you a ton of free gold!

I'm no good at explaining things. Search Google or YouTube for "how to install a minecraft map," there are tons of great guides out there.

Anyway, I'm essentially done with OceanBlock 4.1. Everything looks good, but I'd like a second (and 3rd and 4th...) set of eyes to look over the books and make sure I've not forgotten anything. Like put a Strength potion in twice or left out a wool color or a potion. Or any stupid typos that for some reason I don't see after reading over it 5 times
Book 1, the rules and whatnot:
1)
Welcome to OceanBlock 4.1!
This map is for Minecraft 1.5 or later.
Everything in this map is possible. I promise. It's not supposed to be easy. Think a bit before assuming I forgot something.
2)
Everything in this map is fair. By "fair" I mean that I've not hidden anything 100 blocks away, or under one of 100 pieces of dirt. If you don't have something you think you need, you very likely don't need it or will find it soon!
3)
See the other book for challenges.
That book is editable, so you can delete the challenges as you get them.
Within each category, the challenges are in REVERSE order so you can delete them easily as you go.
4)
Rules:

2) NO mods/hacks/cheats that give you an advantage. (Optifine is fine, but TMI is not)
3) Play on at least easy difficulty.
4) Have FUN!
Book 2, the editable challenges book:

I'm not sure what you're not understanding, so I'll break it down.
1.4.7 is the current version. It's the 7th revision of version 1.4.
1.5 is coming out soon, it's the next version. If needed, it'll have revisions and be 1.5.1, 1.5.2, etc.
Before any versions (major versions or revisions) is released, they do a pre-release about a week early.
Ideally that prerelease is bug-free. If it's not, they fix those bugs and do another pre-release but that's pretty rare. If that prerelease is bug-free, then it just becomes the release version. If it has a bug, they make a new prerelease that is again ideally bug-free.
As a bonus to all this mod makers, texture pack artists, and map makers get to test their stuff for a week before the game is officially released, with a version of the game that is pretty much guaranteed to be exactly what the general public gets.
