Quote from mazejaker
Don't talk to me like I'm a ****ing retard. I save multiple backups of everything, I don't just have 1 .minecraft which I mod the **** out of and update to snapshots whenevr. I havn't ruined anything in my worlds, the reason it's ruined, is because this (when implemented) will make it so HARDLY ANY mods work, as they will need to be MP compatible and that just isn't possible with some things. It also bugs out connection to worlds, which shouldn't be needed on SINGLE PLAYER.
Every update breaks mods. Then the mod developers fix their mods and get them to work with the new version. And there will be no errors connecting to your single-player server because you don't need a network to connect to yourself locally.
I'm sorry if I insulted you, but you're conjecturing based on others' conjectures, based on a snapshot that the developer TOLD YOU WAS EXPERIMENTAL. Why not assume, for the moment, that Jens is at least as non-retarded (to use your word) than you, and thought of this very obvious stuff already?

I just may quote you on the first post when I am not posting from my phone
Very, very little
Remove the trees, go back to needing to make a cobblestone generator... Hmmmm I'm not sure but you may have something there. I'll think on it a bit.
0
I am! To be totally honest though, that was pretty much what I expect day 1 to look like for a lot of people.
And now you know what I mean about "if you're clever you can even get some of the dirt." You can't simply break it and hope to get any reasonable amount back.
Don't worry about spoiling the best surprises. There are plenty more in the Nether. Plenty more.
0
If you're cool with going into peaceful mode, I'm cool with you going into peaceful mode.
The only way to get a red mushroom is to spawn a mooshroom, on grass, in the mushroom biome.
0
Thanks for the info! I've modified the thread title.
0
Jungle trees have always dropped somewhere around 1 sapling per 40 leaf blocks, which is about half everybody else. I think up until now you've been lucky.
0
I won't spoil it because you don't know what's under the dirt, but let me say you'll have to be clever to collect more than a tiny bit of it.
And for better or for worse, there is a link to a Hardcore mode of the map. I do not suggest this for anybody.
0
I'm afraid to! It changes the url and I have no idea if that'll screw anything up.
I'm not super concerned about that. If you care that much, you should have the book Also, with extremely few exceptions the challenge list is actually the same, just better organized and with some extra challenges that are perfectly possible in 4.0.
I won't lie, I did some thinking on that. In the end, what convinced me was that the "starter chest" is in vanilla Minecraft, so it's not at all a problem. I too liked the floating book on the bed, but 2 books is pushing it, and I really needed to fix that book.
Interesting aside: I accidentally destroyed the book the first time I tossed it on the bed, because I accidentally hit the cactus.
And you're welcome. Thanks for playing and for being such a big part of the update!
0
You should! People seem to like it and I'm pretty proud of it. It seems so simple until you try to do stuff. A lot like this map, at least a lot like this one hopefully is
0
Thanks for the offer, but now that I know how (I googled NBTExplorer ) I'm going to do it myself, to both this and OceanBlock. Hopefully I'll have the Hardcore link up in a couple hours.
I was GOING to start a new hardcore world and then paste all the stuff in with MCEdit, but this will be SOOOOO much easier!
0
Not at all! I'd hate to play this on Hardcore but by all means feel free!
(I sound all strict in the rules but really, I just want people to enjoy my maps )

This is bugfix release of the new minimal-survival map from the maker of OceanBlock!
(No, this is not about surviving on pancakes.)
NOTE: This map will only work on Minecraft 1.5 or later!
OceanBlock had too much of everything. Too many villagers. Too much water. Too much CONTROL.
So I took those away.
Now it's just you, some trees, and a single, solitary friend.
CHANGELOG:
1.0 Initial release. You can pretty much make, breed, grow, spawn, or trade for everything in the game, eventually. If you're smart
1.1 Biome Bugfix. Added 4 biomes: Jungle, Mushroom, Swamp, and Taiga. Click the below spoiler to see how to upgrade your own map, or just download the new map when you screw up next

Make sure your lava block is uncovered. If you've moved your lava, build something so you can see where it was, if you were looking down on your world from below (Like, a big circle of wood centered on that spot)

Download and install BiomePainter

Open it, and open your map. It should be in %appdata%\.minecraft\saves\Pancake_1.0\level.dat

You should be able to find the single square of lava, near the middle of your map. Or, you should be able to find the structure you made in step 1. Center it in the box and zoom in all the way (Magnification 10x)

On the right side, click the cirle selection brush, then set the diameter to 45. Center your mouse on the lava block and click. It should turn orange.

Below the map area, below where it says "Edit Biomes in Selection," click the drop box and select "Jungle". Then click "Fill." Now, when you hover over the orange box, the tooltip will read "Jungle" instead of "Plains"

On the right hand side, click the white square under "Select." The orange circle will turn green.

Click the square under "Selection Brush," and lower "Brush Diameter" to about 35. Then click the map so that you highlight it as in the picture.

Back in the bottom area where it says "Edit Biomes in Selection", set the right two drop boxes to "Jungle" and "Mushroom Island", respectively. Click "Replace" to their right.

Click that white square under "Select" and the upper left quadrant of your circle should turn a shade of blue.

Click on the square Selection Brush again, and click the next (upper right) quadrant of the circle. Note you're going around the lava square like a pinwheel. Down below, change "Mushroom Island" to "Swampland" and click "Replace." Click the white square under "Select" and that quadrant should now be another drab shade of blue.

Repeat the process for the lower-right quadrant. First click the area, then change "Swampland" to "Taiga," click "Replace" and then click the white square under "Select." It should be a dark greenish color.

Hover over each quadrant of the circle. They should be (in clockwise order from the lower left) Jungle, Mushroom Island, Swampland, and Taiga. The lava block should be Jungle (bonus jungle square!)

Save and exit, and you've upgraded from Pancake 1.0 to Pancake 1.1!

1.2 Diamond Bugfix. Fixed the strange behavior with the diamonds. If you want to upgrade manually, do this for each diamond you find that acts strangely:

Throw all of your diamonds into the lava

Make sure you have at least one open slot in your hotbar inventory (where you can wield stuff)

Hit ESC.

Click "Open To LAN"

Click "Allow Cheats: OFF" to turn it ON.

Click "Start LAN World"

Then hit "T" to open the terminal window.

Type /gamemode creative

Hit ESC to exit terminal mode

Hit "E" to go into inventory

Scroll down the list to find diamonds. You can also hit "T" here and then type "diamond" to filter

Drag one (or two, or however many you have lost) diamonds to your hotbar

Hit ESC to leave inventory

Hit "T" for the terminal again

Type /gamemode survival

You may also want to quit the map and reload it to turn off LAN mode.
Note: There are ONLY 3 diamonds in the map. Exploiting the bug (or the fix) for more diamonds (or anything else) is cheating.

(Note: This map is not really intended to be played in Hardcore mode. Normal mode is hard enough and it is very easy to be killed, so download this knowing that it is totally, completely unfair. I put this here because people wanted it, not because I thought it was a good idea myself!)
Rules:

Do not kill yourself in ANY way for ANY purpose.

NO mods/hacks/cheats that give you an advantage. (Optifine is fine, but TMI is not)

Play on at least easy difficulty.

Have FUN!

Notes:

Yes, it's an infinite plane of dirt.

Even good machines will stutter a bit when you break a dirt block. It's part of the Minecraft lighting engine and I can't do anything about it.

When you start, there's no water, stone, ores, grass, or anything like that. You don't need them. Well, you do need them but not right away.

Anything that you need, that you don't see plainly in front of your face, is in the Nether.

There are 5 biomes in the world. Most of the world is a plains biome, but there is also a snow, a jungle, a swamp, and a mushroom biome nearby.

Read the spawning rules for slimes. There are 2 ways to spawn them and both are viable on this map. To be nice, I've placed that lava block on the intersection of 4 chunks, and all 4 of those chunks will generate slimes. There is also a decent sized swamp area. Enjoy!

Read the spawning rules for Mooshrooms. In particular, the height restriction! They'll never spawn on the plane you start on, you'll have to think vertically.
FAQ:
How do I get cobblestone? Where's the Water?
Until you get to the Nether, there IS NONE.
Anything you can do with cobblestone, you can do with wood, except maybe holding lava.
And if you're clever, you can get the dirt too.
What about Iron?
Iron is a renewable resource, and getting it is one of your goals. If you do the challenges in order you'll get iron eventually.
What about Whithers? I bet you didn't think about those.
You can get Whithers in the Nether. I apologize right now for how hard a task that's going to be.

I'd welcome any suggestions. If you make something awesome I'd also love to see screen shots or videos!

All signs are pointing to an early morning Thursday release. I'm just doing some final checks. I'd be able to release tonight but my internet is very dodgy where I am right now. I'll have to wait until I'm home.
I think I'll do all my animal farms in rivers that end in a hopper, so I just feed, kill, and let the hopper take care of picking up the drops. Same with my mob farm.

The only annoying part is all the replies where people say it's so annoying.
Seriously, it's one line in the bug list. Chill out.
