I'm guessing it just looks up the username you type, and gets the universal user ID for the username. If you try to look up a username you had before, the uuid isn't associated to it anymore, and you won't see any skin.
You guys do realize that biomes were added in the Halloween Update, right? Grass was only a single colour for a fraction of Alpha.
If you don't count classic, indev and infdev, Alpha had bright grass for 122 days. It only had biomes for 51 days before Beta was released, which means it had bright grass 71% of the time.
If you count all the versions before Alpha 1.2.0 that had bright green grass, Minecraft pre-beta had bright green grass for up to 532 days, which is 91% of the time.
Great Application! Very useful for making youtube thumbnails (bit.ly/mcknightz), but you can't seem to load skins on the extended version?
The extended version is outdated and tries to look up skins from the old skin server. Since you probably didn't upload a skin until the new skin system came into place, it won't find any skin for you
Do you have any ideas? I think the pack is very much completed, might be some details that need to be ironed out, like making a chest model that has the "old full block size", with no lid opening, and remove the sound maybe (if it's not already removed).
And then the 1.9 update ofcourse.
The chest model won't happen before it gets its own block model of course.
Also, I could have sworn that the grass and leaf colors used to be in-between the levels that were in Alpha, and what there are now. Am I mistaken? If not, I'd like to see a version with those grass colors.
I explored this concept a while ago to see how the old biome coloring system worked, but something made me stop working on it.
Here's the screenshots i gathered from that exploring, and as you can see there is a very smooth transition from biome to biome, and local variations within the biomes.
Is it yet possible to recreate the old chests yet? Or, is that still not a possibility? Kinda lost with the 3D stuff in Resource Packs, and I'd love to see those old beautiful chests once more, without having to play the older versions.. :-)
Last time I checked, there was no .json model for chests, so they can't be changed yet
I'm fairly sure that wool has a single texture, which is altered by the code. It's illegal to redistribute modified source code. So that idea, unfortunately, would be illegal to implement.
The discontinued "Classic/Survival_test" pack had the old wool colors and red rubies, but it is discontinued and I will not work on it anymore.
If I was still running the "Classic/Survival_test" version of NostalgiaCraft, I would add it to that pack, but since it's discontinued, and the fact that the cacti only had those textures for a limited time during Alpha, I will keep the default (not the old) cacti
I have mixed feelings for the new update, but i think it'll be mostly good. :wink.gif:
Not going to get mad over something that may likely be changed before the release :smile.gif:

Sure, you can put it as your server texture pack, no problem!

I'd say that's a pretty big fraction.

Are you sure you are using the latest version?

I'll try to do it again and make a grasscolor.png and foliagecolor.png out of the old colors, but it certainly won't look as varied and smooth.

Nice reply, but you're about 4 years late.

Old sponge is now in both packs

Are you sure you have the latest version of the skin viewer?
The old versions try to grab the skin from the old skin servers, which, if you got your account or updated your skin recently, won't work.

I'm just making a quick FAQ for new posters who ask the same questions again and again...
Will this come out for mac?
Probably not in the near future, no. You can try running it through Wine.
Does it support 1.8 skins?
Yes, kind of. The extra layers (jacket, sleeves, pants legs) will be flattened onto the base skin as of now. (the hat still works)
What about the Alex "thin arms" model?
No, it does not support it as of yet.
My antivirus says it's a virus! Help!
Calm down, it's a false positive, probably because you have Norton antivirus.
I have an idea for a feature!
Yes, we all have, but Luke seems to be busy for the time being.
Now, please don't post about this again. (until the thread gets a new page and everyone just skips to it...)

Except that the top and bottom textures are completely borked.
