Speaking of the Japanese levels, how are we going to make the tsunami and other similar obstacles?

Edit: I just tried this pretty good Crash-inspired map; maybe the creator would be willing to help on a much larger project.

Honestly deserts villages need an overhaul in general. I'm not sure if this is perfect, but I'd definitely prefer it to the current ones.

I do know about guns, i have fired one or two myself (An M1 Grand and an SA80) i am not "your typical person who knows nothing about guns".

As i said before, Muskets Won't fit whatsoever but cannons would.

Stop making out that i am hating on this thread, i am not, i am just giving my opinion

Well, that was a short leave.
Anyway people wouldn't use so much ad hominem in their arguments if you backed up more of them with evidence. If you're going to state an opinion as nonsensical as muskets being totally out of place but cannons being fine or even worse: Minecraft being a medieval game, you have to give logical reasons otherwise everyone laughs you off as a dumb hater, so please give some real, solid evidence (and not 'guns are horrible').

Also, for the guys that didn't experience gypsyblackmagic's reign of terror last year, I suggest you leave, now, or else we're just going on circles.

Well... this is a bit more realistic than villager rockets or super creepers; maybe with another 5 years of suggestions Gypsy'll finally give us something worthwhile, and even if he doesn't his threads still deliver some good comedy.

posted a message on The Mysterious East- An Asian Themed Adventure Map! [Featured by the Yogcast!] {1.6.1} [Now with Custom Music!] {48,000+ downloa
Wow! That was a very, very good map; one of the best I've seen. It manages to grip you right from the start with the spectacular design and visuals (courtesy of a very good texture pack) that give every location a unique atmosphere. The modern Asian city in the opening felt like a real lower-class slum, and helped to add to the wonder of exploring the mountain in the game-proper. The content itself was fairly standard but that hardly mattered with the brilliant stylistic choices; and rare for a Minecraft map: an interesting story!
Considering how much effort was put into the story and atmosphere though, I feel like not criticizing the weaker aspects would be doing it a disservice. This'll contain a number of spoilers so... um, spoiler alert.
Although I did really like the 'Wizard of Oz-esque' plot, it probably needed a different setup; the protagonist is supposed to be a western kid so why would their subconscious take the form of an East-Asian fantasy land? I know they're trapped in Asia, but aside from the odd bit of decoration and a few characters their escapism would still be firmly routed in western culture. It doesn't damage the map at all, but it would've helped the atmosphere if the protagonist had always lived in Asia, and it also would've meant the map didn't need a gigantic exposition-dump at the beginning. This plot concept also would've benefited from some character development before going to the fantasy world; there's a reason The Wizard of Oz doesn't just jump right to Oz, and this map would've benefited from the same treatment; if we got to see some of these characters in the real world it would've given much more emotional weight to the main quest (an encounter with chairwoman Wuqing would've been great).
Also this is much more minor, but what culture were the elementals based on? Because last I checked both Chinese and Japanese mythology have 5 elements (fire, water, earth, wind/air and void/spirit for Japanese; fire, water, earth, wood and metal for Chinese). Again, the map works fine without this accuracy (the bosses were the worst parts of the map anyway) but it would've been nice to see the proper elements.
I hope this doesn't sound to negative, because despite its flaws this is still a very, very good map. I hear your next one is going to have a central American theme? That's something I haven't seen yet, and with the addition of horses it'll probably have an excellent atmosphere too. I look forward to it.

Wikipedia is not a legitimate source, it is the most unreliable info site due to the fact that anybody can edit it.

And please don't give me the post-apocalyptic rubbish, i have heared it all before.

Alright, whatever, i'm done, i know guns won't ever be added so i have no business on this thread anymore.

I know it seems pointless to reply since you said you'd leave, but I can always respond so other gun-opposed members will know what not to do.
If Wikipedia has sources attached (here it does) the chances of it differing from the accepted truth is very small, so don't point out that it's community-run unless you know it's wrong and can provide what really happened (Jamest couldn't, and practically admitted it).
If you do have to point out Wikipedia's illegitimacy however, don't make the basis of you argument something as subjective as Minecraft's setting. If you are going to make your entire argument (against any suggestion) that Minecraft is set in medieval times (it isn't) you better provide some pretty hard evidence.
Also, if you do decide to give up arguing in the face of strong opposition, and if you want to make a final closing statement in disagreement, don't make it whinier version of your initial point that was long-since disproved, it doesn't help you at all.

Note: if anyone else is interested I can give some evidence for post-apocalypse in Minecraft.

    Wikipedia? Really?

Yes they may have had guns back then but they were not guns, not even muskets, they were big sticks filled with gunpowder that go bang, they even had crude flamethrowers back then, let's add those too shall we?

Which is what plenty of the suggestions on this and the other thread were about: 'sticks that go bang', and crude flamethrowers don't seem too far removed from Minecraft's current combat system, so I'm not sure what you mean by this. Although I'm not sure why I need to explain this; you've given us practically no argument beyond telling us what we already know and saying a legitimate source (since you haven't bothered to correct anything and it has attache sources we can assume it's valid) isn't a proper source. Also, I'm still waiting for evidence that Minecraft is both set in medieval times and nothing but a building game (if you want I can give you a pretty good argument for it being post-apocalyptic).

Damnit, why are you two so good at building? I'll move that totem picture up to the main post, and I'll add a spoiler section to show of the rest of the pics so people have an idea of what you can build without having to scroll down. I have a live lesson now so I won;t have a chance to build till later, but I'll post some pictures later...

And may I ask, what are your actual names? It seems a bit strange just calling you MiniHill and
23232323... Mines Ethan By the way.

Lots of practice, analyzing what makes other builders good and using real life for inspiration (or in this case, other games). Well, I use my name on most other forums anyway, I suppose there's no harm in telling: Nyk (pronounced as Nick).

Edit: Here's a warp room concept.

Well, I for one loved Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped; and iirc I've got a playstation plus copy somewhere (and probably the PS1 copy, but I think it was damaged. I never really played the original CB, but I played (and still have) the 2nd and 3rd games, as well as Twinsanity and WoC, to which I felt was a tad disappointing (and had sold since).

Anyway, though, I may be able to help out with the 2nd or 3rd titles, preferably the 3rd my favourite of the series (and I'm unsure if my original copy of the 2nd still works).

    Name: just call me Hilly

    Age: 16

Job your applying for: Builder, but I Can make texture-packs (see my profile); I'm not that great, though

An example of some of your work: Argh; nothing that's really that close to this franchise, and nothing 'amazing' that's complete, but okay:

Steampunk-style cathedral; a build for my adv. map (unfinished obviously). Texturepack is Victoriacraft - an excellent pack by the guy helping the project.

'Ferrodil Town'; again, part of this adv. map. Texture-pack is an unreleased beta copy of steelfeathers' skyrim-pack

A very-early look at one of the concept-builds for a boss for one of the larger-levels:

Contact details: practically everything uses this same name; so skype is also minihilly (but I rarely use it...; just PM me)

As for you guys not getting much attention: screenshots of progress would greatly help; else, it makes it appear you're just wanting people to do the work for you...

Oh my god, someone's actually replying!
Yeah, like Eth said we don't have anything to show just yet, and we don't actually know how to post screenshots... how do you post them?
