Reasons why Hunger was added (and why they are bad reasons):
1) To make the game more realistic. You want realistic? Play Sims. Or better yet get off your computer. Realistic is not what Minecraft should be aiming for in the first place,

Minecraft is SUCH a versatile game, it can become ANYTHING! It has so many options... Building, Fighting, Farming, Breeding, Spelunking etc.
Hunger is partially realistic, although i like it more for it's affect on spelunking! You have to be more careful, have to be more wary of your surroundings and most of all, you must have a goal and a time limit (unless you have food, which is the other point).
Creating food is not THAT necessary but if you plan on cave diving with endermen and skeletons then you must have food. Let's look at it like a leveling system:
Level 1: House
Level 2: Food
Level 3: Armour
Level 4: Cave exploration
Level 5: Massive dungeon raids.
I didnt listen to it all the way.. i was too scared :biggrin.gif: But it sounded to me like there was smoke around him, he was trying to light something, probably a fire and so it is either night or he is deep underground (or just 1 block deep.. -__-)
