My recommendation is to build a "cube" with the corners rounded out.

Where :Leaves: =floor and :Logs^: =outline of your wall. Expand this floor plan to fit your needs. This will give you a fairly large inside main room but not a cube looking outside. The cubby holes formed by the corners can be filled with chests, crafting benches, etc.

    Happy crafting,

posted a message on Powered minecarts are underrated
I only use powered carts for transport of materials. For this, they work great. At the moment, I'm excavating a large room underground and I have a rail that goes from the excavation to my material storage room. I dig until my inventory is filled up, empty it into a storage minecart, then rinse and repeat. Once all my carts are loaded, I send them back up the rail and meet at the top to unload.

For personal travel though, I always use booster rails. Much faster and no need to load the powered cart with fuel. Just place the minecart, hop in and push a button to go.

You should be able start a village like that. Some friends and I used minecarts to move some villagers from an existing village to one that we built near our settlement. They seem to have settled in just fine. They are multiplying and have even spawned a few iron golems.

Wow great tip thanks. I was wondering what the hell to do with that enchant lol.

Also since i seem to like enchantments are there any mods that you (or anyone else here) would like to recommend to me? I have played Tekkit so i have some experience. I also have friends that will help me to install them :) I guess i never trued mods because i
don't want to feel like i am cheating or playing on easy mode. (not to entirely say that all mods make the game easy as i have seen some very hard ones .)

Just for the record, you are more likely to get the "better" enchantments if you enchant an iron tool instead of a diamond tool. If you really want Fortune III, then enchant an iron pickaxe. If you only plan on using it for diamonds it will last for quite a while. At 30XP, it's almost a guarantee that you'll get more than just one enchantment as well. If you get an unbreaking enchantment, you could more than double your pickaxe's effective life.

One more thing I might add is that you may want to be careful how much you "combine" enchantments using the anvil. The more enchantments on a tool, the higher the XP repair cost will be.

figure out what just happened: 60s
try to gather my loot in vain: 60s
run outside to a tree, harvest: 60s
    run back, craft 2 2xchests: 60s
transfer full inventory into chest1: 60s
turn around to find all my loot gone.

So, to the trolls making me feel worse that I took too long to recover, thanks for nothing. Go find some other bridge to lurk under.

To the rest, thanks for the support. Everything was lit up, doors were closed, not sure how he got in or where he came from... :(
I guess I just have to start over. Imma thinking I don't want to look at this base and my half tapped mine anymore, so I'll probly start a new world. If I'm starting from scratch anyways i might as well... The real heartbreak is the loss of the diamonds. Was hoping to go back down with a shiny new pick and make me a nether portal... Well, back to the drowring board ;)

To be honest, you haven't really played Minecraft until you've experienced something like this. Still happens to the best of us from time to time. Just try to learn from it. Next time, you should realize that you can't hold everything that's been dropped so you'll spend less time deciding to make a chest. Also, you should ALWAYS have some wood planks/logs in your inventory (logs are more compact). As long as you have wood, you can make any tool necessary to survive.

I disagreed with most of your OPINIONS in your last thread. Didn't bother reading all of this one since you said it contained more or less the same stuff. For the most part, I as a casual gamer enjoy the game just as it is and don't really see the need for fixing all the terrible problems you seem to think this game has.

posted a message on does ghast attack you when you behind glass block?
No, a ghast will not target you if you are behind glass. That said, glass tends to get destroyed by errant fireballs when you are entering or exiting your house. I like to use iron bars for windows on my nether structures since you can still see through them, ghasts can't see you through them, and they will survive a direct hit from a fireball.

It's not much, but I'm still working on it. I thought I might as well throw in the "in-progress" label. :D (P.S., I'm only using Rei's Minimap. That explains the little 9.95 on the left :) )

Nice tree house! The fountains are a nice touch. Making one of these has been on my to-do list since the jungle update.

I rarely play SSP any more. This house is on SMP. 100% legit. The picture below shows the front door. The small structure in the bottom left corner is a small, water-harvested wheat farm.

The view from across the bay towards the back of my house. The glass tunnels underwater have minetracks that go from my house towards the main castle and other people's houses.

Standing just inside the front door.

Across the living room and down to the left is the storage/crafting/work room.

Across the living room and down to the right is the kitchen, potion set, enchanting table and stairs to the attic. Pressing the button on the refrigerator will shoot a melon slice from a dispenser at you.

    The back deck.

The view from the back deck.

This is my bedroom. I'm terrible at interior decorating. Still can't decide what else to add up here.

Through the bedroom to the right is the "entertainment center".

posted a message on Slime Help
You need to be at least 32 blocks from the spawn area for slimes to spawn there. You probably will not get very many spawns if you're always in the room. Run in and kill what is there. Then leave the room and walk off a little ways. Wait for a minute or two then come back. If you're already doing that, then I don't know what to tell you.
