Half-Life 2. Even near it's time, I didn't really like it. I respect what innovations it made for sure, but man it was such a drag I didn't complete it. I loved Ravenholm, but anything previous or an hour or two later, I hated. I don't see the appeal in being talked at, it really does the opposite of immersion for me; and the combat against any human-like enemies were a bore to me.

I think you've completely missed the point of my point (or purposely ignored it). If you're not worried about financial gain, then you should really consider supporting an existing project instead of re-creating the wheel, again. It doesn't benefit anyone to make another MC clone to be honest, that just fractures the communities even further.

It would be in the best interest of everyone if you were to find an existing project and support it.

    Relevant XKCD. http://xkcd.com/927/

But yeah, I agree with this. So many times was the wheel recreated; Minecraft-clone wise.

what am saying is every single halo game is the same halo 4 to halo reach are almost the same with very few new features but wait sorry i forgot halo 4 tried to copy cod i believe perks and all that stuff that i know a lot of people hated but i do play a bit of halo my friends come over or i play with them and they are halo junkies they cant get enough of these games i mean they play them for hours a day (one time we played halo 4 mp for about 8 hours straight) am just saying that there pretty boring

Ah, it looks like you've only played the newer ones, meaning Reach and 4.

You can't really base Halo off of 4 and Reach. That's when most started saying Halo was going downhill. I disliked 4, sorta liked Reach, but 1-3 were really great. You should really try those. There were definitely changes between those games.

Just don't pre-order in general. It's nearly always a bad idea. Luckily, I've only been gimped once, and that was the trainwreck called Aliens: Colonial Marines. Even if it's your favorite developer, I'd hold off. The game is still there up for purchase on launch day. A gun skin or a TF2 hat really isn't worth your $60 that could be spent on potentially greater games.

Hopefully 343 will make a good decision and actually release this on the PC. I got a PS4 this year, due to the X-Box One's high cost and lack of exclusive games. The only thing I'm gonna miss is Halo.

Why should they? Halo is pretty much Xbox's icon. With this, they're using people's nostalgia and the fuss about 1080p/60 FPS to get people to buy it. And, people who were kinda interested in Halo but only played a bit could buy this. This could be a huge boost towards Xbox One sales.

I want Halo on PC as much as the next guy, but this is huge for the Xbone. They should at least wait a few months to get the sales from PC gamers who decided to buy a console for this.

posted a message on IDEAS FOR A GAME
Before you think about making companies and Super Dinosaur: Ultimate Combat 3, you should probably realize that game development is pretty hard. And based on what I've read, I don't think you have dabbled much. Why not change that? And don't hesitate to try "becuz ur 13 dur". Start now, and make sure to start simple so you don't stress yourself out. I messed with BASIC when I was eight, and moved on to other languages to build things.

Go learn a programming language. You've got Visual Basic, Python, Lua. You can then learn more, like C++, C#, or Java, as the previous languages are great for learning. There are all kinds of wonderful tools out there to help you, like Unity, XNA, LibGDX, SFML, SDL, Unreal Engine 4, CryEngine, and much more. And then if you wanna learn more of the art side of things, use some free tools like Blender (3D modelling) and GIMP (Image Editing). Or you can use the more expensive software, like Photoshop, Maya, or 3Ds Max.

And to build on the start simple thing, I mean simple. I don't mean top-down 2D dinosaur shooter. I mean like Pong, Space Invaders, and Tetris. It may be boring, but it'll teach you some important aspects of creating games. Go search up on some stuff if you really want to become a game developer; there are tons of resources out there. That's my suggestion.

And now the original composers back. This game seems to be coming along very nicely so far.

I'll definitely have to try this out. The only wild-west game I've liked is Call of Juarez Gunslinger. Never got to play Red Dead due to the lack of a console.

Yup! A new Unreal Tournament has been announced, with the price of $0. You may be at first pretty worried, will UT be plagued by the F2P trend? Nope, it is just free. The catch is that there will be a community marketplace. Users will be able to upload and share the content they made, for free, or a price. Epic will take a cut from paid mods. For those without Unreal Engine 4, it looks like you'll have to buy it to be able to use the tools, but that may change.

It will also be a PC exclusive, luckily, and the Unreal Engine 4 community may shape the future of the game as the source is on github. I, for one, am very excited to see how this turns out. Especially since I'm subscribed to UE4.

No way I'm getting a Wii U or 3Ds. Not until they fix the games being tied to the console thing. Break your 3Ds/console? You just lost all your digital games. That's a huge deal breaker for me.

Please do tell me if they have fixed this already.

I think AI in general needs to evolve. I can really care less about a dude's pimple actually having polygons rather than faking it with a normal map. I want AI that doesn't seem to be brain dead. Escort missions could actually be viable if the guy I'm supposed to protect knows the difference between the spot he's supposed to get to, and the spot that will easily kill him.

Also, most microtransactions. I really hope Fortnite won't be ruined by this, as it looks like a really cool game.

posted a message on Is Unity the New Java?

Never Tried Unreal, will have to check it out.

I really disliked UDK(UE3) because of the interface and UnrealScript, but 4 improved it so much in my opinion. Note that there isn't a free version, at least not yet. It's $19 a month, but you can cancel the subscription at any time and keep access to everything. You won't get any updates 'till you pay another $19, though. And I somehow forgot, you get access to the source code!

It may take a bit for it to start up, though. Unity has excellent documentation going for it, and that's probably one of the reasons the community is so big. UE4's isn't as good.

Unreal Engine 4 could also compete. It's surprisingly cheaper than Unity, but there are royalties. Honestly, I left Unity for UE4. Blueprint along with C++ is pretty awesome.

But yeah, Unity is getting pretty popular.
