I know you said no to reply, but I just wanted to state that I actually love the little flying "offspring of a non married couple". Really. They add a lot of fun and challenge.
    Sorry. Back to topic.

Do you guys have any other thoughts on the new mobs? I found them all, I don't know, lacking salt? Like too samesy?

posted a message on Piglin Brutes spawn only in world generation

It's just facing a vindicator in a tighter area, backed by what become zombie piglins.

    YES! :D

    Quote from Ptolemy2002»

Honestly, I believe they should spawn just like any other mob (that is - more of them spawn when you get near a valid location). Making them spawn on structure generation makes it so that there is a limited number of piglin brutes, which means that you could simply kill them all and then go straight back to exploitive bastion looting. I thought the whole point of having the brutes was to cut down on the number of people that just walk into a bastion, place down a hopper, and enjoy tons of valuable loot at no real cost. As long as to don't anger the piglins, there is almost no challenge at all in looting a bastion (aside from the typical lava hazard and occasional magma cube fight). I like how they added a chance for a chest to spawn on gilded Blackstone, but that chance should be a guarantee, and the piglins should also be angered when you move it with a piston. Also, when you explode TNT inside a bastion, the piglins should become angry at the owner of that TNT block. That way, people will not be able to loot ANY of the chests without activating a piglin fight, and they will become adequate guardians of the bastion.

    THIS.

Yup, I totally agree. I don't see the point in non-renewable mobs, really...

    This.

Also piglin brutes are really not valuable, just vindicators basically and they make peaceful bastion restoration/exploration impossible.

The value is the fun of facing them in combat... ;)

mmm. Maybe I have to expand the testing to other Bastions then. I confess I only went to one, and before it seemed to me that it would be during chunk generation, but as I went to the same fortress in different copies of the world, and the only copies which spawned brutes were the ones where the whole world was created in 1.16.2 (pre release 1), I thought that when they say brutes spawn at world generation, they meant that.

I did some tests yesterday and it seems that Piglin Brutes can only spawn during generation of the whole world. Meaning that worlds that were set up during 1.16.1 won't be having Brutes, even if you never went to the nether before updating to 1.16.2 . Is that right, or there's anything I'm missing here?

Me and my friends are quite down about, cause we already abandoned an ongoing world on realms to be able to enjoy all the things the new update have to offer, and then it seems we are going to have to abandon yet another build.

posted a message on Craftable xp bottles

    I completely don't understand.

When you craft the XP bottles, they would be empty. Then you would have to fill them up. Either:
... by using something that gives you XP, like a furnace, while holding the bottle on your off-hand,
OR by using the bottle in a pool of XP orbs, like you would do to fill up a bottle with dragon's breath. And how you obtain those XP orbs' pools? Either by killing something big (think bosses), or a lot of smaller things, like mobs in your farms, or even when you die, if you have enough XP levels.

I would actually prefer it to be HARDER? They're way too easy?
edit: I mean even the ones with trident.

posted a message on Craftable xp bottles

Lapis is the rarest ore in the game for me, to the point I get more excited to find it when mining than diamond or gold. Part of that is that I avoid mining in levels 14-17 where it's most abundant in order to avoid cave systems. It is fairly common in shipwrecks though, with almost every treasure room having a solid stash of them. Still, this sounds like a good idea but keep the XP bottle as is and make it 3 bottles if it takes 3 lapis because it's not that much XP as it seems (and farming lapis is basically trading in which case you are getting more XP from doing that anyway so it's not like it helps).

Yeah, make it3 bottles per 3 lapis. But, a twist: They are crafted empty, and you have to fill them up from a big pool of XP laying on the floor, before it enters you. And you know how you get those: it's kill or be killed. ;)

posted a message on Use gunpowder instead of redstone to blow up tnt

I agree with OP. But not instead. They should be both. So you want do a contraption, with signals and etc to blow the TNT? Use Redstone. You want to put a TNT on the ground and make a fuse so you can light it from safety? Use gunpowder, 1 per block, but it will be consumed by the fire and lost. I think it's a great suggestion.

I agree, the ground needs some more working.

I would like to see how the house looks without textures.

I specially liked the chimmney. Is that trapdoors around a campfire there? It looks really neat.

    Congrats.

posted a message on How do i get more creative in shapes and styles?

    1. Challenge yourself. Put yourself a random constraint: build using only one chunk. OR build in non flat terrain. OR build using only grey blocks OR build using what you can fit in a single chest. Etc.

    2. COPY. Don't be afraid of copying other people good ideas. Try as most as you can copying the whole build, but if you want, do it. The idea is to copy specific ideas. Do you like Grian's roofs? So build a serie of dirt sheds with his roofs. So you like someones walls? Make several walls, but just the walls. Copy ideas of corners. Try to repeat in different shapes the ideas you liked, and try copying different styles. That will help you build repertoire, and also, to start noticing what makes a great build.

    3. Try different materials. You saw a nice wooden roof made with slabs? Mmm, maybe you can use quartz instead. TRY. Even if it gets ugly. Ugly builds are great. They'll teach you what you don't like.

    4. Pay attention to real life architecture. To the details and the big picture. Look at this nice house you found, now look at the whole street. This other house has a nice window? How does that window goes with the rest of the house? You can do that even in films or series, just look at the builds and imagine them in Minecraft. Pay attention to floor plans. When you visit other peoples houses, pay attention to how the internal space is distributed, and all the different ways you can combine bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Pay attention to public places as wells. Like Palin mentioned, christian churches often have cross shaped floor plans. What about banks? Libraries?

    5. Vary. Avoid making the same builds. So last week you built a big Medieval Castle? So now you build a small suburban house. Next, make a factory, and then, a pier.

    6. Reform, and rebuild. So, you liked this nice cottage you built? Ok, leave it there for a couple of weeks, maybe months. Then go back at it, and think what would you change. Change it. Don't be afraid (maybe backup first?). Ok, so you really liked it? Fine. Open a new world, and try to rebuild it, relying only on your memory. No prints, sketches, plans, nothing. Just memory.

    7. Exchange worlds with friends, or download them. Then apply number 6.

    8. Make horrible builds, on purpose. Like number 3, you'll learn a lot about what you don't like. And who knows, you might even be surprised by something you though it would be horrible and you ended up liking the way it got. Who knows.

FInally, 9. TAKE RISKS. Like a friend of mine says "it's just a block building game, anyways". Nobody is going to die because your build is ugly, or poorly designed, or flat.
