Jul 29, 2012Hey guysPosted in: General Gaming
Remember my obsession with Jeff the Killer? Yeah? Well I made a text-based game on it for Silas 48 hour Game Game Game competition.
If you don't know who Jeff the Killer is, it is a creepy pasta story.
You can find it here:
Anyways, this is kind of my first game in Java so let me know what you think!
Instructions on how to install the game are in the README file.
Download link: http://adf.ly/FUopJ
I've made this into an adfly link so I can get a little revenue from the downloads. Don't worry, you don't have to pay anything, just wait 5 seconds until you can skip the ad.

Also, did anyone know that mirrors are actually slightly green?
Sep 9, 2012I hate when people say something is a 'Minecraft ripoff'.Posted in: General Gaming
You have to realize that Minecraft has turned more into a genre than a game.
Aside of that, the game looks really fun. I don't speak German, so could anyone possibly send me a link to a download?
Sep 4, 2012I have no problems with bronie's. Nor do I have a problem with anyone who plays ROBLOX.Posted in: General Gaming
It's your personal choice on what you call entertaining.
Personally, I wouldn't mind watching MLP if I ever saw it, it seems like an anime show minus the sexuality.
Also, I hate the ROBLOX community, but it got me started in computer programming, so I have to give it some credit, and it teaches a lot of kids basic programming syntax. If it had a more mature community, and a little bit more freedom while creating games, I would probably still be playing it.

Thanks for your feedback. The game is made in Game Maker, but it took some time and effort.
Others have no problem with the background, so I'll keep it like that.
I can't afford a domain O_O
You can get domains really cheap, some of them run for like $5-$10/year.
Also, if you really want to develop games, stop using Game Maker, it won't teach you anything about developing game and isn't flexible enough. Plus, no developers will take you seriously if you make things in Game Maker.

Hey all, I must be missing something really obvious somewhere. Im trying to use Chunky to render a Minecraft Multiplayer map that we've been playing using Bukkit. However when I load Chunky it shows the top down view of the map we've been playing but Clicking '3D Render' and 'New Scene' tells me no chunks have been loaded...
You have to select the chunks you want to render by clicking on the overhead map of the world.

SEUS Renewed screenshots!
SEUS Renewed is an on-going project! Feel free to report any issues you encounter.
Setup (PLEASE READ)
OptiFine has taken over shader support for Minecraft. Go download and install OptiFine first! ALWAYS USE THE LATEST VERSION
You need to install this mod to use my shaderpack!
Once you've got OptiFine installed, to use a shaderpack, follow these instructions.
1. Navigate to your .minecraft folder (google is your friend if you don't know how to do this).2. Create a new folder called shaderpacks (without capital letters) if it isn't already there.3. Go download my shaderpack "Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders" from below and place the shaderpack in this directory.4. Valid shaderpacks include .fsh and .vsh files that the Shaders Mod reads to tell your GPU what to do during runtime. These files must be in a folder named shaders within any shaderpack. Shaderpacks may only be uncompressed folders or .zip files.
The following is an example of the file layout possibilities for the shaderpack Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders v10.1 Ultra.minecraft/shaderpacks/SEUS Renewed 1.0.0/shaders/[.fsh and .vsh shader files here]or.minecraft/shaderpacks/SEUS Renewed 1.0.0.zip/shaders/[.fsh and .vsh shader files here]
If this layout is not respected, your installed shaderpacks will not work. This is the first thing youshould check if your game looks like vanilla Minecraft.
5. In Minecraft, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders. Here you will see a list of your currently installed shaderpacks. Select a shaderpack by clicking on it.
6. In Options > Video Settings > Shaders, make sure that "Old Lighting" is set to Default!
7. Click Shader Options in the bottom right corner of the Shaders selection screen (for v11.0 and Renewed) to setup SEUS-specific options. Here you can choose from Low, Medium, High, Ultra, and Extreme profiles, as well as tweak any individual option to suit your needs!
Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders

Once the mod is properly installed, there are a few things you can do to ensure maximum performance.
-Run the game in a smaller resolution in full-screen
-Lower your render distance
-When OptiFine is installed, try toggling "Options > Video Settings > Performance > Smooth FPS:". "ON" gives more responsive input and more steady fps, but likely lower maximum FPS.
Reporting an Issue
If this mod is giving you unusual results, please make sure that you installed everything correctly first.
If you are using this mod on a Mac, I'm sorry to say that I am powerless to provide Mac support. I apologize.
I can't help you if you don't provide these details:
-Describe your issue thoroughly. Provide a screenshot or video if you can.
-Describe your system specs. If you forget this step, I cannot help in any way.
-Include the output log along with your issue report.
-Describe the shaderpack, OptiFine mod version, and Minecraft version that you are running when encountering this issue.

[Update] Dec. 24th, 2013:
Crafting Azeroth version 1.0 has been released!
Download Now: CraftingAzeroth-v1.0-release.torrent (6.8 GB)
Crafting Azeroth v1.0 includes over twice the content of the original beta version, including the new continents of Outland, Northrend and the Great Sea, in addition to the original continents of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Additionally, many zones that first appeared in the beta version have been re-generated using newly added blocks and features. To learn more about v1.0, you can view screenshots in the updated image gallery, read the included readme file, or explore the interactive map in your browser.
[Update] Jan. 23rd, 2014:
There is a nice Mac OS X installation guide here. Thanks Joshua Reeves!
May. 17th, 2014:
Someone asked me to modify CA-Static and CA-Teleport so they would only affect the Crafting Azeroth map, so I made a separate version of both plugins that checks the world name before applying any changes. You can download them here and here.
About this project:
The Crafting Azeroth project is a full-scale reproduction of the World of Warcraft environment for Minecraft. The creation of the map is heavily automated, assisted by custom software that I have developed. The best way to explore the map is inside Minecraft, but you can also view the map in your browser by clicking the link below:
Screenshots of the map can be seen in the following galleries, including all new screenshots of Outland and Northrend. If you are unfamiliar with World of Warcraft, the "Before and After" gallery will show comparison screenshots between World of Warcraft and Minecraft:
Additional information about the map and many older screenshots are available in this this archived post.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Q. How does the conversion process work?
A. Custom software converts the continents of World of Warcraft into Minecraft blocks using a process known as voxelization. This software converts everything in the game, including all the buildings and natural details, down to the individual tree stump. Once the parameters for the software have been set, the conversion process takes approximately 48 hours and requires no human intervention.
Prior to the conversion process, I needed to match textures from World of Warcraft to the appropriate material in Minecraft. For example, an object with a wooden texture might be converted into wooden planks, while an object with a mossy texture might be converted into mossy cobblestone. I created a special software tool to help perform this assignment, but selecting materials for all 10,000+ textures in the game still required many hours of work.
Q. How large is the world?
A. The current version of the map spans approximately 500 square kilometers and contains over 100 billion blocks. The highest part of the world, the peak of Mt. Hyjal, stands more than a kilometer above sea level. Since the map exceeds the Minecraft height limit, the world had to be divided into seven altitude layers, each connected via a server-side plugin that teleports players as they approach the height limit. To be played locally, the map requires 22 gigabytes of available hard-drive space.
Q. Does the world include underground areas, like dungeons and caves?
A. Yes, the map includes all caves and dungeons that are not part of a separate instance. So, areas like Blackrock Mountain are freely accessible, but dungeons like Blackrock Depths or Molten Core are not. The map also includes many randomly generated caves similar to those found in Minecraft.
Q. Do you plan to convert any other zones, such as Pandaria?
A. Yes, work has already started on Pandaria, but it will take a bit more time before the zone is ready to be released. The conversion process can also be used on dungeons and battlegrounds, so they may appear at a later date, but they are not top priority right now.
Q. Where can I download a copy of the map?
A. The full map is available to download right now, just click the BitTorrent link at the top of this post, or download from this mirror. If you don't want to download the map to your computer, you can explore a read-only version of the map by adding wow.cursecraft.com to your in-game server listing.
(new) Q. I downloaded the map, but now I'm stuck in Outland. What do I do?
A. Entering the Dark Portal in Hellfire Peninsula should return you to the Blasted Lands in Azeroth, just as it does in World of Warcraft. If the portal takes you to the Nether instead, you may not be using the correct plugins. Check the readme file for instructions on how to download and install a Bukkit server with the required plugins. The readme also lists some useful /tp commands for teleporting to key locations.
(new) Q. The game runs really slow when I'm near a jungle. How can I fix this?
A. There are two important things you can do. First, set your graphics in Minecraft to "fast", so that leaf blocks are opaque rather than transparent. Second, make sure that you are running the map on a Bukkit server with CA-Static-1.0 plugin correctly installed. Doing both of these things will greatly improve performance in large jungles and forests and should also help preserve the map from damage.
(new) Q. Can your software convert games other than WoW?
A. The same technique could be used on other games, but it would require a tremendous amount of additional work. The converter would need to be adapted to handle different file formats and then specially configured for the new data set. This is a very time-consuming and technically challenging process, so I have no plans to use the software to convert other games.
Q. Who is involved in this project?
A. The conversion software for this project was developed by Rumsey (RamsesA). Hosting support for the Minecraft server is provided by Cursecraft, and in particular Martin Benjamins (Marlamin), who helps manage the server directly. The mapping software used to generate the Google Maps view of the project was developed by the Minecraft Overviewer team.
Q. Who can I contact if I have more questions?
A. In addition to posting here, you can contact me via [email protected] or Twitter, or send a private message through this website. If I do not respond right away, check if it's something covered in the readme or this FAQ.

Customizer (Fan Managed): Customizer (thanks Cabralol522! and formerly Zakristone.)
This texture pack utilizes MCPatcher's Connected Textures & Randomobs mods to a huge extent. If you want to use my extensive connected textures mod support, MCPatcher is required. Currently MCPatcher has a better CTM version than Optifine's. If you try and use CTM with Optifine ~C3 you're going to get a lot of bugs.
What is CTM? Words cannot do it justice, check out these pictures:
Regarding use of my work..
I get a lot of PMs about using my work so I thought I'd clarify some things. You're free to use my work in any video, server, map or project as long as I get full and clear credit with a link to my thread. This means you can do what you want with it, as long as it is only distributed with that project. I just ask that you don't use it in any public texture pack mix, edited or not. Please don't PM me about permission for things, because I'll tell you the same thing you just read.
Update [5/7/2012]: Send all your fan edits, old version textures and other stuff to Zakristone so he may add them to the customizer!
Update [6/29/2012]: Dear servers using my texture pack, please give me credit for my work. Especially if you're going to edit it.
(Lookin' at you, A Song of Ice and Blood!)
I update and overhaull my texture pack a lot. I encourage users to take backups before updating their texture pack, because things change and some people don't always like them. If you have any old old old versions, I even encourage you to post them because I'm terrible at keeping old versions. It's fun to look back at old textures!
Sorry for all the words.

(Builds are from WesterosCraft, an awesome server that's recreating Westeros from Game of Thrones.)
It's been almost a year since I released the first version of Revival. A lot has changed since then, pretty much every texture has been redone, including a general change in style overall. My pixel art skills are always improving so I can't guarantee the pack will look the same in another 6 months. My changes have been mostly well received though, so I hope you guys will continue to enjoy my work. If you do enjoy it, share it with your friends, family, family pets, strangers or acquaintences; I'd appreciate it!
I'm not done yet though, I will continue to update this pack for the forseeable future and I always have a todo.txt with 10 more things I need to update. My interest in Minecraft waxes and wanes, and with it, so does the speed of my updates. Stick with me though, because I'll put SOMETHING out, temporary or not.
Just for fun, I figured I'd write a little about the history of my texture pack career™.
In late 2009, I made a replacement leaf texture just because I was sick of the neon green leaves. This spiralled out of control as I realised there was always something I didn't like about another texture. This led to my first pack which I stupidly called SMP's Realistic. It wasn't realistic at all but HD textures weren't A Thing then and I was using colors pulled from photos.
Then someone figured out that you could make higher-res textures just by doubling the size of the texture file. The first thing I did was make a hideous photo realistic texture pack called 2Realistic (get it? GET IT?!). I canned that almost immediately though and made a regular 32x texture pack where everything ended up looking like a different colored sand. I called it...SMP's Texture Pack.
I'm not sure when it happened, but I made a really lazy 16x version of it for the Webhallen texture pack contest.
Around the same time, Doku released his first texture pack and it blew my mind. Actual pixel art, and it was awesome. I had the great idea to make a cartoony texture pack, and for the first time I ever, I didn't just abuse photoshop tools to something out. Warning: the image below is terrible and will probably hurt to look at.
After some time I just gave up on Minecraft in general, discontinuing my pack and letting others take over it. For months I used a John Smith/DokuCraft mix pack I made, and around May '11 I decided to make a 16x mix pack too. It used textures from a bunch of different packs including painterly, quandary, eld and norsecraft. I don't have any pics of the original pack, but I do have this terrain.png from when I first started making my own replacements.
Then stuff and things happened, and this is the oldest version of Revival I can find. If you have an earlier version, please post it here so I can look back in nostalgia . Edit (5/21/12): Thanks to The Barinade for relinking the very first release of Revival! It's the second image below.
Very first release ever:
Now at SMPtextures!

Here's a sig since so many people like them!
You can follow me on twitter here, but I never tweet and I'm not interesting.

I will never charge for my texture pack or use any ad-based link referrals, but if you're feeling extra generous, donations would be very much appreciated .
