    They all seem pretty interesting. Honestly I would make the one that you want to work on the most.

    Impossible within my lifetime or yours because of lacking neural mapping technology. How do you plan to take someone's thoughts and interface them with the game? Are you going to create textures for every possible object the players could enter in the game?

    Right now, imo, the future of gaming is virtual reality.

    Actually this isn't impossible. I can't remember where, but I remember seeing videos of a machine that puts peoples thoughts onto a screen. It's generally a pretty blurry image, but they said within a couple of years they should be able to improve it.

    The game by itself isn't a copy of Minecraft; the gameplay is somewhat stupid (splitscreen is good though), but it's not a copy, just the same genre.

    However, when the creator started instulting Notch/Jeb and saying Minecraft is crap compared to Fortresscraft, it was different.

    I didn't know that?

    Wow now I hate the game more than ever.

    She thinks you can get viruses from watching videos on youtube, Trust me, it would be like talking to a brick wall.

    Haha.

    Honestly tell your mom she's a dumbass. If steam had any viruses, they would already be ****ing up your computer because you have Steam installed already.

    If you still can't convince her then ask a friend to buy it with their credit card (they can buy it as a gift) and send it to your account, then just pay them with your cash in real life.

    Or, you can just play a massive Minecraft server? ;)

    You could try Unity3D http://www.unity3d.com/.

    Unity3D is a free (or you can pay $1,500 for the pro version (not including addons)) in which you can use a few coding languages such as C# or javascript (I'm not sure of others though) to create a game.
    Its also easy to create a game environment with the simple object tool (click and decide which object you want) then you exit it as you please.
    Unity also comes with Monodevelop which is a program for creating scripts (used by default but you fan change it).

    I'm even making a game myself using this program by following a tutorial series only because I don't want to bother getting a book.
    I'm using C# and if by any chance you don't know it here's tge code for a health bar.
    using UnityEngine;
    using System.Collections;

    public class Player_Health MonoBehavior {
    public int curHealth = 100;
    public int maxHealth = 100;

    public float HealthBarLength;

    //use this for initaliztion
    void start () {
    HealthBarLength = Screen.Width / 2;
    }

    //update is called once per frame
    void update() {
    AdjustCurrentHealth(0);
    }

    void OnGUI() {
    GUI.Box(new Rect (10, 10, HealthBarLength, 25), curHealth = "/" + maxHealth);
    }

    public void AdjustCurrentHealth(int adj) {
    curHealth == adj;

    if(curHeath > maxHealth)
    curHealth = maxHealth;

    if(curHealth < 0)
    curHealth = 0;

    If(maxHealth < 1)
    maxHealth = 1;

    HealthBarLength = (Screen.Width / 2) * (curHealth /
    (float)maxHealth);
    }
    }

    I don't know any C# or javascript (I believe unity uses js too) but pretty much all code is recognizable to me and I can get a general idea of what it does.

    My 3D modeling skills are sloppy and my texturing is even sloppier so unity doesn't seem like a great option even though you can still make 2D games on the 3D plane. It's just using extra hardware on players computers that isn't needed.

    I've given it some thought and I've decided I'm going to make the game from scratch using java.

    But thanks for the post mate ;) If I end up making a second version of the game I'll definitely look into using 3D graphics in Unity.

    I hate people who say games are a 'copy' of Minecraft. It's a genre of games more than anything, and unless you copy MC almost directly, it's not a ripoff.
    Quote from ArktosDysis

    Took a little longer than I was hoping, but I've got the character animation tool all up and running so I can quickly whip up new characters (players and enemies) and so I'll have some new in-game vids to show off what I come up with using it!

    Should be quite easy for anyone to pick up and make a new character with - it'll just need some integration so those character can also be placed in game (but I'll make sure that happens before alpha release :D ).

    Also, the fact that you made this program is really really impressive.

    Call of Duty games. Mainly because of the horrible community who think they are weapon experts and think you can shoot weapons full auto and hit targets at 200 meters. Usually on target shooting videos: "lul afraid to shoot full auto? ***** lol"
    And the games as well. Horrible storyline, russians are always the bad guys.

    The only thing true about CoD is the fact that the Russians are the bad guys.

    That is the better thing to do although with my projects i would make it in something easy even if it has major setbacks just to see the rough draft of my game. Using java you can look up on goolge many open soruce well.. everything really. from sound engines, engines, physics etc. so it might take longer but the quality of game will be better and depending what you get online it might even be faster you never know,

    Yeah I just installed eclipse (this is a new computer) and I've started coming up with some basic code towards the game. Working on getting gui, and stuff down.

    As player who used to play both games, that's a great start. The Runescape combat system was pretty ridiculous, unbalanced and heavily reliant on luck.

    I used to play both. I liked runescape more because it was more unique and not some WoW ripoff like every other MMO.

    Quote from The Abandenz

    I wouldnt mind if the game had a "alpha" that was made with gamemaker. and that would just be judged on the creative aspect and gameplay to a extent. Then when it moves to a beta its gets a real langauge and dev team behind it to really flesh out the game. cause no offence but gamemaker isnt really something to make a game with, ironic i know.

    Using just a langauge should be good enough might be harder but you have more freedom infact so much more.

    I just want you both to see this, that's why I quoted you.

    Since you both said I shouldn't use GML, I'm going to use java. It will take a lot longer but like you said, you get a lot more freedom with coding languages.
