TeacherGaming (team behind MinecraftEdu) and Dan200 (creator of ComputerCraft) bring you a new way to learn programming and computational thinking in Minecraft. Players start with a tile-based interface to learn the fundamentals of programming in a fun, accessible environment. They will be engaged and motivated to find ways to use turtles to automate and extend their usual Minecraft activities. Whether you are completely new to programming or you already have some experience, ComputerCraftEdu is an easy and fun way to learn important real world skills and get creative on a whole new level.
Do I need to know any programming to play?
No. The idea behind ComputerCraftEdu is to give you an easy start to understanding the structures and logic behind programming. You start by controlling your robot turtle with a remote by giving simple one-step commands. You’ll start actual programming by dragging and dropping commands to a grid area and gradually move to placing those blocks by just using the keyboard and finally to write the actual code with just text.
Do I need some specific version of Minecraft?
Like regular ComputerCraft, ComputerCraftEdu is Forge-based on Minecraft 1.7.10, and therefore requires Forge to work.
This is exactly what I was hoping Minecraft education would come to.
Also, I sorta like the Turtle GUI. Is ComputerCraft going to get an update with that sometime?
It is not going to be in normal ComputerCraft, but you can use ComputerCraftEdu to get the GUI! CCEdu includes all the features of regular ComputerCraft.

Is this still working with the latest versions of Minecraft? Seem that they have changed the filestructure.
I have followed the instructions and installed Forge and Mod for 1.7.10. I have placed the mod fil, in the mods folder but it doesn't get loaded. Som other mods do. Would very much like to try this with my kids!
Are you using Minecraft 1.7.10 also? It should work with that version What error are you getting? Can you see the mod in client's mods section in-game? Note that you need to install this mod both into your client and server.

This looks like Forge issue and not cc / ccedu. Have you tried removing the mod and just launching 1.7.10 Forge? I also found this thread which seems to be similar issue, removing your options.txt file resolved it: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/210325/minecraft-1-7-10-crashes-when-i-attempt-to-open-a-world
Deleting options.txt did work! Thanks!
Im trying to use the EDU with Computercraft and keep getting,
(java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: dan200/computercraft/api/permissions/ITurtlePermissionProvider).
Can you post a list of mods you are using / FML client log? Some mods erroneously ship copies of old versions of the computercraft api classes.
Are you using Minecraft 1.7.10 also? It should work with that version What error are you getting? Can you see the mod in client's mods section in-game? Note that you need to install this mod both into your client and server.
