✦✦Allows advancement of technology to unlock new items✦✦
Start your research! Building a desk allows minecrafters to research new items and technology.
Right-clicking a desk when it is placed opens the desk gui. Putting items into the gui researches the technology associated with that item.
The desk gui:
Things don't research instantly so the arrow works like in a furnace where the bar takes time to produce an item. However, the desk gui MUST be open while researching something (its like you're sitting at the desk and thinking up new stuff.)
When you first start a new world, the desk is going to be one of the things that you'll want to make first, as it is required for researching anything more advanced than the most basic of stuff such as mining with a wooden pickaxe. because it is required so early in the game, the first few research items will take only seconds to research because you must stay at the desk for the whole research time.
However items can research themselves with a computer. Computers are made of plastic, redstone, and circuitboards. The crafting recipes and required research can be found below.
Putting treesap into a furnace produces rubber (shown below), and rubber in a furnace makes plastic. Trees will drop treesap when cut down, but you must research rubber before you can make rubber out of it.
Producing Rubber:
Plastic, redstone torch, and redstone makes a circuitboard.
Plastic, circuitboard, etc makes a computer.
The computer opens the desk gui and works exactly like the desk, only the gui doesn't have to be open while you research. Your computer does all the work while you can happily mine and build freely. It will also decrease research time by 10%! Now all this stuff is a lot to consume off one post, so there will be a craftable list that lets you access a research tree upon right clicking the list. This shows a thing exactly like the achievements tree, but it's research items
Here is the as-of-yet list of research items:
and the tree of technologies:
COAL---OIL USE Oil is found in caves. It looks like black water and can be harvested with a bucket. It fuels cars, planes, etc
IRON---INDUSTRY Researching industry allows industrial workbenches and furnaces. The industrial workbench allows for a larger crafting gui to make larger items such as vehicles and well, industrial era stuff. The gui looks like this:
crafting:
The industrial furnace (or forge) can smelt two items at once. For example, iron ore and coal makes steel bar instead of iron ingot. The industrial furnace also creates two iron/gold ingots from one ore block. It also smelts 1.2x faster than a normal furnace.
crafting:
And a car!
Don't know how quite how the physics of this will be yet. Obviously faster speed. Thinking space bar speeds up, shift slows down, and it can go over halfblocks. Requires oil in the inventory and one oil bucket fuels it for ten minutes or something. Cars also take a small amount of damage over time and will generate smoke particles when they are in need of repair. fire particles will generate when they are almost destroyed. to repair vehicles, simply hit them with a craftable wrench :smile.gif:
crafting:
where is a rubber wheel
wheels are made of wood, stone, or rubber, in this shape:
GUNPOWDER---FIREARMS
flintlock:
bullets:
makes sixteen bullets
MUSHROOM---PENICILLIN
Penicillin allows medicine which is used through vials. each vial gives 3hearts of health and does not take time to use (instant health gain). To make the vial:
makes three. Empty vials may be stacked to 64, but full vials only to one. To put medicine in the vial, put a vial in crafting with a mushroom on top. Empty vials are reusable.
This is a work in progress. I was thinking these could expand into something that would allow us minecrafters to start building modern items such as planes, missiles, cars, remote activated C4, whatever.... Just would be best if it took time, so research! Anyway comments would be appreciated! Feel free to add your ideas to this, too.
fluxigon's recent ideas:
1) Wheelbarrow -- The Wheelbarrow is a type of vehicle that can hold roughly 27 (3 rows (a small chest)) of items, and if you are next to it, and right click it, will attach to you, and can be pushed on flat grounds, and up half steps. This would allow you to roam more freely in the start of the game, and be able to move your items around. However, the down side is that you can only push one wheelbarrow at a time, and can only ascend half a block (only can climb up half steps (will not climb stairs, as they are too steep)). Requires the invention of the WHEEL.
2) Cart -- The Cart is a more advanced form of transportation, and can transport people (normal cart) and items (storage cart). Requires the invention of the WHEEL.
3) Cart Linking -- Cart Links are an essential item needed in order to utilize the potential of carts. By holding a cart link and right clicking 2 adjacent carts, one can link them together, allowing them to pull/push both at the same time! Pushing carts isn't effective, as the carts will start moving directly after contact, and controlling their direction is hard. Requires the invention of the WHEEL
4) Rope -- Rope is an essential part of evolution, and is an important item to the revolutionary minecrafter. Rope is stronger than string, and can do more tasks. Right clicking a Dog with rope will leash it. Right clicking the rope on a cart after that will tie the rope to the cart, allowing your dog to tow it. The Dog will take damage as it moves the cart, the more carts, the more damage, and the more dogs, the less damage, and damage will be distribted among them. You can also pull the carts yourself (consumes hunger instead of health this way). YOU NEED ROPE TO PULL CARTS! Requires THATCHING skills.
5) Horses -- Horses are a great bunch of animals, as they are stronger and more sturdier than other animals. They can be used to pull carts without getting damaged, and can be saddled and ridden, and be controlled by you. Feeding horses Apples will make them tame, and feeding them Golden Apples will make them stronger. Requires HORSEMANSHIP.
6) Carriage -- A Carriage is a more advanced version of the cart. Being 3x3x3 big, it can hold multiple people/mobs, and items too! Also, carriages can be tied using rope to saddled horses. Carriages can ride up 1 block tall ascends. Requires the invention of THE WHEEL, and HORSEMANSHIP.

Please change the recipe for the Industrial Furnace since Industrial Craft uses the same recipe for its Iron Furnace and they will conflict!
In general, try avoiding recipes with only a single type of ingot in them (f.e.4 iron like your Industrial Workbench, or 2 gold, etc., ) since they are far too common and they cause conflicts all the time!
Other than that it seems you have an interesting mod there!
I expect more from you!
P.S.One final question, are you going to add forge support?

hmm i dont know about changing the recipes because this mod is kinda going to include something like industrial craft and a **** ton more :smile.gif:. idk about forge support because it'll take longer for updates, but could be a good idea
