How to have multiple versions of the .minecraft folder, and also change it's directory!
Everyone has tried to have different mod packs, or different versions of minecraft. It has never been possible, without using several tools that decrease your FPS and makes your game run horribly. This tutorial will help you to create a file, called a .bat file, that will make it possible to have multiple versions, without running in the background and decreasing your FPS.
You will need the following... - A legit copy of minecraft - Notepad or Notepad++ ( I recommend notepad++) - Working knowledge of a computer - Minecraft launcher ( Download the .exe launcher from minecraft.net )
Well, let's just begin..
1. Create a new folder anywhere in your computer, like the desktop, and call it whatever you want. 2. Inside the folder you created in step 1, create a folder for your first modpack/version. 3. Inside the folder you created in step 2, create a .bat file, and name it: "start minecraft" 4. Open the .bat file, and copy and paste the following code into it and then save it, MAKE SURE IT'S A .BAT FILE
set APPDATA=%cd%
minecraft.exe
5. Copy the launcher into the folder you created in step 2 6. The contents of the folder will be the following:
7. For every version you have, you need those two files in the folder, and then just run the .bat to run your version of minecraft. 8. When you run the .bat file, log into the launcher, and it'll download the .minecraft if it is not avalible
Well, that is about it, you can modify the .minecraft as much as you want, but make sure you do not modify the code of the .bat file, or it might not work anymore. Remember to message me if you need any help, or if it is not working for you, but please include the error message you get.
