I've been playing Bedrock Minecraft for quite some time now. Maybe a whole year now? (Yeah I'm new!) Anyways, I heard that Java Minecraft users are going to have to migrate their accounts to Microsoft soon. My question is, has the new format started? Or if I got Java now, will I have to still transition?
I don't want to get Java if it's too soon; meaning I'm going to still have to migrate my account to Microsoft soon.
But if everything is done, I can play Java without having to migrate anything.
Also, the migration to using Microsoft accounts will only affect how you log in to the game - the actual game itself is not changing at all (except for the normal updates, such as 1.17).
So, as greyling12 and walkman17 said - don't base your decision on whether to purchase Java edition on the Microsoft account migration, as that is only a very minor part of the game, and won't affect gameplay at all.

As far as I know, the migration isn't happening till 2021 at the earliest. If I were you I wouldn't base your decision solely on that.
