I'm going away on business for a couple of days this week, so I thought it'd be interesting to leave my game AFK fishing in my absence (with various other AFK farms in the area as well) to see how many drops I rack up before I get back. I've done a fair bit of prep for this - I spent most of yesterday adding an item filter, auto smelter for fish, and water streams to take everything back to my main storage, with everything overflow protected just in case.
This all got me to wondering, what's the longest AFK stint other people have ever pulled in their game? I've left my game running overnight many times, but this is the first time I'll have left it running for over 24 hours with no input from me.
I only need to AFK at my blaze farms & gold farms, and then probably 30-45 mins max. as kill them manually in groups. Any longer and the max cramming rule will kick in.
Actually, I forgot my Guardian farm when in auto mode, I usually AFK for around 2 hours, then the farm will auto shut -off as the chests will be full.
Never more than a few minutes, such as when using my minecart system, and even that is not entirely automatic (there are various stops where you have to right-click another minecart and press W to keep moving); most of the time I just wait until I reach the end.
Otherwise, my playstyle simply gives me no reason to ever AFK - it has no advantage when caving (and you'd have to wall yourself in to avoid mobs), even when I set up a bank of furnaces to smelt ores I continue exploring areas nearby for the 5-6 minutes it takes (half a stack each. Often I do not return for much longer, with several more stacks of ores to smelt, or set up the furnaces near an entrance marker on the surface so I can explore much longer without losing track of where I put them).
I do not use any automated farms either, which would be limited to farms that can work in spawn chunks since I only return to my main base (in the spawn chunks simply because I build at spawn) to put away all the resources I collected - and why do you need iron farms when you've mined more than 429,000 iron ore, hardly any of which has been used (in fact, when including iron found in chests I have more iron stored than I mined; I don't even need it for rails, just recently I collected more than 2,700 from a complex of mineshafts, and have used less than a tenth of all the rails I've collected overall. All these resources are simply a byproduct of what I do for fun and ensure that I'll never have to go out to collect more regardless of what I do need (I branch-mine to get my first resources that I actually need, since resources like diamonds are much easier to get).
The same applies to XP, which I get in such surplus (in a recent world I averaged 5308 XP per play session spent caving) that I've spent up to 7 times the necessary XP to repair an item due to collecting 70+ levels when I only needed 30 or so (I play in 1.6.4 so I only need to rename an item and it can be repaired forever so I never need to enchant anything again). The items which I do not use while caving, such as an axe and shovel, I do not need to repair very often and can be repaired with surplus levels from caving; any mining that I do when building a new base is usually very minimal since I do not build much more than basic shelters and do not do much terraforming or tear things down much to rebuild them better.
I once left my computer AFK for a week on a old Tekkit world. When I came back after a week I found I had been blown up by a creeper for a few days I assume.
i was afk on server for 2 weeks and this erver gave you money like 200 money every 30 minutes and 10 plot blocks for towny to expand and came back rich and a huge town ended up doing it again for 2 months and was the top of the server until they implented a afk for 10 minutes and your kicked off
An hour. I was moving my base very far away and needed food badly, so I made a massive wheat farm that took up nearly all of the loaded chunks around me. I keep tabbing in and out until it was all grown.

Let me know if my posts are helpful or if you like them. That's what I'm here for.
I am currently lurking more than I am posting. I haven't gone anywhere.
A few hours for a whole bunch of different farms a bunch of different times. Plants growing, guardians dying, iron golems spawning, cobblestone mining, waiting for cows to spawn on a Skyblock...so on and so on.
I go afk for hours upon hours in my fish farm i let it run all night... stop it see what i got clear all those damn saddles and junk then start it up all day till i get back playing at night lol
I have made a modded 1.15 pigman farm that produces more than a chest full per night I AFK there and I tested it 1 night and this is combined from direct ingots which eventually will go to a piglin, but I have a sorting machine configurable and set up for bartering loot. It also will have a manual input and will be fired every few seconds if I have multiple piglins there. It could be more efficient if I didn't add Infernal Creepers or nether creepers which also spawn and creep around there without getting farmed. I am waiting to finish updating my mods and find 1.16 versions of other mods to update to 1.16, but I am already in my mod gear that is way better than netherite.
I could do weekly overnight cycles like general mob farm monday, gold/ziglin farm tuesday, prismarine generator/guardian farm wednesday, cobble gen thursday and so on.
All of my away-from-keyboard farms that produce mobs like general mob grinder, guardian farm/prismarine generatorand ziglin/gold farm are equipped with sorting machines to sort mass produced loot in modded survival.

Mintutor now works in 1.13!
MrKite & Mc_Etlam ... I salute you!

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
A few hours. That's when I used fishing farms, but I don't use them anymore. Guess I'm getting back to being an old-school player.

Occasionally I will leave my fishing farm running afk overnight, so probably 10 hours max.
What am I supposed to put here again?

Lol, I doubt anyone who plays this game actually has a life to go afk over 2 minutes.
get out
Raspberry Pi Edition is dead lol
