Finally switched from 1.12 to 1.14 with optifine. villagers stopped working now - they just stand there in the open at night and get killed by mobs. What should i do?
and my iron golem farm stopped working as well lol.... idk whether i should actually switch back lol
I don't know for certain that adding beds to the houses would get the villagers to go inside at night but it's worth a try.
Look up iron farms specifically for 1.14 on YouTube.
The exact mechanics of villager behaviour has changed several times between 1.14 and 1.15.2 so don't go with a 1.15 farm if you are running 1.14.
It's a bit complicated, to generate iron golems the villagers need to have been scared by a zombie but also have unscared time to use the beds and workstations, you need to have at least 3 villagers that gossip about the need for an iron golem and there have to be less than 10 cats around for some reason.
I don't think I'll ever understand why everybodies first step in protecting villagers isn't putting up a fence and lighting up the area.
Though you should also read the Wiki to find out about zombie sieges and, a new thing, raids, and how to protect against them.
Also there're new mobs that attack villagers and have ranged attacks so you should make the fence or wall high enough that they can't shoot villager over it.
guess i will revert to the old version for now lol....
I hope you mean start a new world in 1.12, load a backup or go back to a world that was never run in 1.14 !
Taking a world back in time almost never works, the older version finds blocks it doesn't recognize, thinks the chunks are corrupted and regenerates them.

no its cause i already made a save backup just in case. so no issues here XD
Just to say this... you really don't need that much effort to fix an iron golem farm that used to work in 1.12. Mainly, the changes that affect already-existing villagers are good because you can decide what villagers you want (and if you don't like their trades, you can reset them). To fix the iron farms, you do need to scare them and provide workstations as Hex stated, and there are videos for how to do this. However, amending an already-existing iron farm is much easier than making a new one with new villagers. Why go through moving the villagers again when you already have them?
Mainly, just move a zombie up to the farm as you see in the videos, then you need to separate the villagers and give them each a workstation and bed. The rest of the farm is fine (if you're using a traditional design, I am assuming), and it will actually work faster than before.
It's up to you what you want to do, but I say, embrace the change, because Minecraft is always evolving. Stuff will break but it's usually fixable with just a bit of effort.

LP series? Not my style! Video series? Closer, but not quite. Survival journal, maybe? That's better. Now in Season 4 of the Legends of Quintropolis Journal (<< click to view)!! World download and more can be found there.

i have not decided yet. my iron farm design is extremely old and not optimal

Villages and iron farms need beds now.

Just testing.
