I have watched just about every video on how to allocate more RAM to Minecraft, and I get the same error every time. I am running Java 8 Update 25 64Bit, my system specs are: Intel Core i7-4770 @3.4Ghz, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 OC, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, 3TB of HDD Space. here is what I've typed in: -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M, and it says this:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Incompatible minimum and maximum heap sizes specified
Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M
If someone knows how to fix this problem, I would be eternally grateful. If there is no solution to my weird problem, which apparently nobody has ever heard about - I might have to reinstall windows.

It looks like you have an environmental variable set in Windows which is causing your issue.
To resolve, first go to Start, right-click Computer and click Properties. In the left pane, click 'Advanced system settings', then click the 'Environmental variables' button.
In the bottom section (called 'System variables'), look through the list for something called _JAVA_OPTIONS. Click the _JAVA_OPTIONS variable, and ensure that is the only item highlighted, then click 'Delete'. Finally, click OK on all the windows to close them.

Thanks for your input, but there is no _JAVA_OPTIONS in my variables area.

Please try using the JAR launcher instead. Save it, then run it like the normal launcher: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/launcher/Minecraft.jar
Stu
It worked when I used that, what does this mean?

It's something to do with the EXE launcher for some reason receiving the _JAVA_OPTIONS variable when it isn't set. I haven't a clue why.
Stu
Okay Thanks for your help!
