I haven't played Minecraft in a while so I hopped back on again. I reset my computer so I had download Minecraft again and when I start to play i play maxed settings and my fps is really bad, 30FPS average. I used to get 300FPS average all the time, but why so low now. My specs: GTX 770, i5-3570k, 8GB RAM, Windows 7. I installed all my latest drivers and updated java but why so low fps?
You could maybe make the graphics medium instead of all the way. I don't see how it makes the gameplay different. If you want to simply make it look good, get shaders and maybe get medium settings.

Have you installed any programs lately? Not the updates, but some other type of programs, like modloaders.

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
You'll probably need to allocate more than that. I allocated about 10GB a while back on a bad comp that got about 15-30 FPS, then afterwards, I got about 70.

Minecraft actually runs better with only 384 MB allocated. 10GB is a huge amount, and this pushes Minecraft onto the disk, which causes less framerate. Unless you are using mods, only allocate a max of 1 GB.

Make sure you install optifine as well. It is a famous method of increasing fps:
