So after the 1.6.0 update, I have been getting the error message saying "This application requires Java Runtime Enviroment 1.6.0." when i click on the minecraft launcher. It also directs me to a java website to download java which i did but it doesn't work.
any solutions?
Uninstall all versions of Java (JRE). Restart the computer. Install the latest versions of both 32-bit and 64-bit JRE 6 and JRE 7. You can have both, yes. JRE 6 64-bit JRE 6 32-bit JRE 7 64-bit JRE 7 32-bit After those four installations, restart the computer. Get Minecraft from minecraft.net - save it, run it.
Minecraft doesn't seem to like the 64-bit version of Java 7. As soon as I switched to the 32-bit version of 7, it worked just fine.
How do I switch to the 32-bit version?
(Sorry if this is a silly question, but I don't know a lot about JAVA. I'm trying to get MC installed for my kiddos b/c they are actually taking a homeschool class with it.)
i tried all java versions no work or fix there's gotta be one that works!well if u wanna switch to 32 bit just download 32 bit, test it and if it works delete 64 bit
I don't know if anyone is still having this problem, but I was earlier on my win 7 laptop. So, Seodoori was half right. If you just download both 32 and 64-bit versions JRE 6, it should work. You shouldn't even have to restart your computer. Hopefully this helps if anyone is still having this problem~
Just in case somebody is still having this issue. All I did was go into "Control Panel" then "Programs" then click "Uninstall a Program". In this section you should find a verson of Java named "Java(TM) 7 Update". You might also find something that looks like "Java(TM) 6 Update". You should delet the "Java(TM) 7 Update" file and keep "Java(TM) 6 Update". Minecraft need to run on the java 1.6.0 so that is why you are keeping the "Java(TM) 6 Update" file, and not the "Java(TM) 7 Update" file. If you dont have "Java(TM) 6 Update" you should refer to: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html for a download. Hope this helped!
You don't have to do any of this stuff. All you do if MC says you need Java Runtime Enviroment 1.6.0, go to your control panel, then programs and uninstall all java you have. Then go install the latest Java just finished myself .
So, I tried running the default windows Compatibility check and it said I should use the Windows XP service pack 2. So I tried a test run and it didn't even install Minecraft. (I can't install Minecraft because I need Runtime environment 1.6.0) So I am trying TheCyberBunny's theory. Please keep me up to date.
I did have this problem before but an easy way to fix this is to go to the java website and download the latest version. When your in your downloads folder it will be called chromeinstall-7u60.exe, open it then run it then your minecraft will work again
i have windows 7 and i use avast and i did a software updater thing on java and its now gone i reinstalled java after that plez tell me if i did some thing wrong
any solutions?
i am on a windows 8
Restart the computer.
Install the latest versions of both 32-bit and 64-bit JRE 6 and JRE 7. You can have both, yes.
JRE 6 64-bit
JRE 6 32-bit
JRE 7 64-bit
JRE 7 32-bit
After those four installations, restart the computer.
Get Minecraft from minecraft.net - save it, run it.
found the fix
Ditto.
How do I switch to the 32-bit version?
