I too am experiencing crashes using vanilla 1.8 server on MCProHosting. I've posted three of the crash reports at this link. It doesn't seems to coincide with number of users or activity. I've been using 1.8 server for 48 hours and have encountered five crashes so far.
For me, the cause of the issue was that I had spawn-protection in Server.Properties set too high. Had it set to 100 to prevent players from griefing spawn. Instead, reduced it to 16 and now I'm using command block to change player gamemode between 0 and 2.

Anyone know what's going on?
ive read the crash report and it looks like its either your computer or you have been trying to get on some outdated servers question:have you had any problems with your computer lately or have you been using any texture packs?

The crash is due to the Watchdog. ITs a feature new to 1.8. the watchdog will terminate the server if it lags to far, as in 1 tick more than 60 seconds. thats a lot of lag. But the issue is what is causing so much lag that the watchdog is turning off the server.
Can confirm it's extremely laggy to the point of being unplayable. Constantly sends 'Server skipping ticks' messages, even with just one friend and myself on localhost. It acts rather strangely though - I have almost no lag or delay, yet the server says it's skipping ticks, and my friend has extreme lag. I'd say it's the network, but we both tested our internet and it was very good. As well, when running other server versions minutes later there's no interruption at all. We can detonate 10,000 TNT on a 1.7.2 Bukkit and have less 'Server skipping ticks' messages than running 1.8 vanilla with 2 people on 2 CHUNK render distance each. Absurd. This is on an [email protected], 5Gb RAM dedicated, 770 GTX. There's something very, very wrong with the 1.8 server.
Edit: Maybe someone else will be able to find this tool and be able to better diagnose what's happening:
I have done a lot of looking for the problem, and came across this website: http://www.sk89q.com/2013/03/improving-your-minecraft-servers-performance/#transient-problems
Under 'Profiling Minecraft' it tells how you can actually identify what specific threads of minecraft are hogging your performance, and could potentially reveal exactly what's happening. That being said I download the Java JDK and can't find the specific .exe he references, and even if I could most of the minecraft threads are obfuscated, so not easy to understand. Perhaps someone more skilled than I could use this to figure out what's happneing, but that's just a thought. The page also contains lots of other good informatioin on what exactly improves server performance, and how a server runs.
It crashes by this when the server lags. There is a new watchdog feature that crashes the server if it gets frozen. you can modify this in server.properties. I think it is max-tick-length and setting that to -1 will disable it
Sorry, yeah I should've specified I did set that to -1, but as AzazelEldritch pointed out that only prevents the server from automatically shutting down when lagging, and doesn't prevent the lag itself. The real issue is that for whatever reason it is skipping ticks even with 2 players on 2 chunk view distance, when in previous server versions you can have graphics settings max with huge amounts of block updates and it still skips less ticks.

Knowledge is power, ignorance is bliss. Take your pick.

My players and I are not experiencing lagging. Well, occasionally someone complains of lag but others chime in and say they are not experiencing it. I have not changed the max-tick-length setting from default.
Thanks for the link. Very useful. Regarding your ticks issue, I'm curious to know what the Server GUI says about the amount of memory allocated to it and how much percent it is using.

Thank you very much. I'll try this out. My server's been lagging because I'm playing on the same network with my sister; as normally it usually doesn't lag.

Did that stop it from lagging?
ive read the crash report and it looks like its either your computer or you have been trying to get on some outdated servers question:have you had any problems with your computer lately or have you been using any texture packs?
Edit: Maybe someone else will be able to find this tool and be able to better diagnose what's happening:
I have done a lot of looking for the problem, and came across this website: http://www.sk89q.com/2013/03/improving-your-minecraft-servers-performance/#transient-problems

I am running from my computer at home.
Thank you all for helping.
