Me and my friends wanted to start an SMP server in Minecraft Alpha, for nostalgia, but for some reason no-one except me (the one hosting the server), can connect.
I have the following set up:
- Port forwarding
-The server exe file with a 1GB RAM limit
- Inbound and Outbound exceptions in Windows Firewall for the 25565 port
- I also have a DNS sub-domain that's linked to my IP
My port forwarding configuration:
IP - [My IP here, I triple-checked it to make sure it was right]
Internal Start Port - 25565
Internal Stop Port - 25565
External Start Port - 25565
External Stop Port - 25565
Type - Both (TCP and UDP)
Attempting to connect with either the DNS address or my IP itself both result in a time-out. Nothing relating to another player attempting to connect appears in the server's logs either, leading me to believe it's an issue with the port config, but I might be wrong. There's no error message in the client.
We've also attempted to connect with different client versions, since Minecraft Server 0.2.1 supports Alpha 1.1.0 - Alpha 1.1.2_01. None of them worked.
I'm stumped on what to do here. Can private Alpha servers still be run in 2021? What am I doing wrong?

Use canyouseeme.org to test your portforwarding.
Booted up the server and checked, looks good to me.
UPDATE: Completely disabling my firewall doesn't work either.
