Hi, I'm trying to set up my first server and got into some trouble while setting up port forwarding. I followed the instructions on the minecraft website and got the server running (including port forwarding). But then I realized that I needed to add some plugins to the server (to play together with bedrock users). So I deleted the server folder and started installing spigot. I set it up according to the tutorials but when I started the server up, the prompt showed me an error code that said that the port I'm trying to use is already in use (similar to this i.imgur.com/zH5We.jpg).
I can't find any useful tutorials online so any help is appreciated :-)
Try to locate the process in the task list (I'm assuming you are using windows), and terminate any java process which has some minecraft in it - you may need to see process details in some way if you have other java processes on the server.
Then you can launch the new process.
Also check if you have specified the server-ip= option in the server properties with an ip, it's usually not needed and you can leave that blank so if your server ip changes, the server will come up nonetheless.

You probably didn't stop the older server.

First of, thanks!
I checked task manager and there are no tasks from java accept the updater.
I deleted the server IP and it booted up fine. But now others can't connect. I opened the port (25565) as the tutorials instructed.
By chance do you have any other ideas? thanks!
Has you server change it's internal ip? In this case you may have to resetup port-forwarding.
Can you connect to your own server from your network?
