Hi, my girlfriend has been trying to connect to my privately hosted server and she will experience seemingly random disconnects with a wide array of different error messages associated. All searches on google point towards client sided issues but after reinstalling the game, ensuring java was running 64-bit and lowering settings, we cannot pinpoint the issue. We are not using any mods at all and I have dedicated up to 4 gigs of ram for the server.
Thats also what came up on searches. However we are both using wired connections and there are no apparent network drops for either of us.
even a wired network can have connection issues. Might want to perform a network stability test on both ends (don't ask me how, I've never done it before)
Is there a difference from the minecraft multiplayer connection vs any other peer to peer connection? We only have these connection issues in minecraft as other games we play together dont do this.

do you use a URL or IP to connect in those other games, or is it run through steam or the likes?
can't speak for Epic Games (but it's almost surely the same) but steam does not use peer-to-peer, connections are routed through steam servers hence why you don't have to do any port-forwarding

Some error messages are:
This one is the most common:
Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException:java.util.zip.DataFormatException: incorrect header check.
java.lang.IndexOutOFBoundsException: readerIndex(18) + length(1) exceeds writerIndex(18): PooledUnsafeDirectByteBuf(ridx: 18, widx: 18, cap: 18).
Badly compressed packet - size of 90 is below server threshold of 256
Java.lang.RuntimeException: VarInt too big
io.netty.handler.codec.CorruptedFrameException: length wider than 21-bit
Delete her player.dat and try again.
I deleted the file and had her log back in, she still got disconnected with incorrect header check.I deleted the file and had her log back in, she still got disconnected with incorrect header check.
Looks to me like it could be a network issue - bad data getting sent/received

hmm thats true that they are run through steam or epic games store. We are still having the problem now, any solutions?
