I'm attempting to install minecraft server version 1.15.2 on a dedicated Linux server on my LAN. The install goes fine but so far I have not been able to connect to the server from my Windows 10 PC with Minecraft version v.1.14.30.
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 with the firewall disabled. I haven't changed any of the options in server.properties. Start up log messages:
From my Windows 10 machine which is on the same LAN I can connect to the server with telnet:
$ telnet 192.168.11.27 25565
Trying 192.168.11.27...
Connected to 192.168.11.27.
Escape character is '^]'.
Attempting to connect with the Minecraft client fails with an "Unable to connect to world" message.
Using Wireshark I can see the connection attempts being sent from the Minecraft client to the server but no response is ever received.
I've also installed the minecraft server on a CentOS server (it's the 192.168.11.48 address in the wireshark capture) to check whether it's an Ubuntu specific problem but same problem exists.
The different version numbers should've been a hint for you that those are two different games.
Yes it was but what's the solution? I checked for the latest client version in the Microsoft Store and it's v.1.14.30. which I have. Do I need to downgrade my client somehow?

Mate you realize those are two different games? Mc from the windows store cannot connect to Java edition servers.
For anyone else in the same situation the server to use with Minecraft Windows 10 Edition can be found at https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server/bedrock/.
