I am new to Minecraft and trying to setup my own server on a MacBook. I am running the latest Minecraft server Java Edition (1.15.2) and trying to connect from my iPad running Minecraft app v1.14.20.
Both the MacBook (server) and the iPad (client) are in the same local network, and I am pretty sure that the IP address and port are correct, but iPad client always complains "Unable to connect to world". What am I missing?
btw, I tried to use older server v.14.4, and got the same error.
btw, I've put a random name in "Server Name" on iPad, does that matter? (My understanding is that only Server address and Port matters).

Thanks in advance.
Already the different version numbers and "edition" names should have told you those versions are incompatible with each other.
Thanks for you reply @Tails1. As I mentioned, I tried to use server v1.14.4 and iPad v1.14.20, but got the same error.
By "edition", do you mean iPad edition (Pocket Edition?) cannot work with Java Edition Server?
